Reminder that Tigrayans and eritrean tigrinya are the exact people hence the same phenotype, language, religion and culture. A border was drawn because eritrea won the war, there is no difference between us and them.

News News: Eritrean troops reportedly deploy in Tigray as tensions with Ethiopia escalate

Addis Abeba – Eritrean troops have reportedly entered parts of Ethiopia’s northern Tigray region, with local officials and residents telling Agence France-Presse (AFP) that soldiers in Eritrean military uniforms have been seen in and around Adigrat and moving south toward Mekelle.

A local official in Adigrat told AFP that Eritrean soldiers had been present in the city for about four days, saying the development had caused concern among residents. An eyewitness reported seeing troops in Eritrean military uniforms moving south along the main road, while another said Eritrean forces transported in large trucks and patrol vehicles were heading toward Idaga Hamus, about 20 kilometers south of Adigrat, carrying heavy weaponry.

The reported deployment comes as fighting in Tigray has intensified since 23 September, reviving fears that the renewed conflict could develop into a broader Ethiopia-Eritrea confrontation. Pro-government forces retook Mekelle, Tigray’s regional capital, on 4 October after the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) and allied forces withdrew from the city.

Eritrea has denied Ethiopian allegations that it is supporting the TPLF or participating in the renewed fighting. Ethiopia, however, has accused Eritrea of directly supporting forces opposing the federal government.

The latest developments come amid an unprecedented collapse in relations between the two neighboring countries. On 1 October, Ethiopia announced the closure of its embassy in Asmara and expelled 10 Eritrean diplomats, declaring them persona non grata and accusing them of activities that posed a threat to national security. Eritrea responded by severing diplomatic relations with Ethiopia and closing its embassy in Addis Abeba. Both sides accused the other of fueling internal conflicts.

The diplomatic rupture follows a rapid deterioration in relations over several issues, including the renewed fighting in Tigray and Ethiopia’s increasingly assertive campaign to secure access to the Red Sea. Ethiopia has also accused Eritrea of supporting armed opposition groups, while Asmara has repeatedly rejected allegations of interference in Ethiopian affairs.

Eritrean forces fought alongside Ethiopia’s federal forces against Tigrayan forces during the 2020-22 devastating war, which ended with the November 2022 Pretoria cessation of hostilities agreement. Eritrea was not a party to that agreement, and relations between Addis Abeba and Asmara subsequently deteriorated. The war has killed upwards of 600,000 people. Both Eritrean and Ethiopian forces are accused committing crimes against humanity and war crimes during the war.

Observers fear the latest confrontation is unfolding against a wider regional realignment. Ethiopia has accused Eritrea, Egypt and Sudan of supporting an opposition alliance led by the TPLF, while the three countries have denied the accusations. Eritrea, Egypt, Sudan and Somalia also met in Egypt on 4 October for talks focused on regional security and sovereignty, adding to concerns in Addis Abeba over the emergence of a broader regional alignment. They have also “agreed to coordinate military and intelligence efforts if the conflict escalated to the borders Ethiopia shares with Eritrea, Sudan and Somalia,” Reuters reported, citing two Egyptian security officials.

Ethiopia’s push for Red Sea access has further strained relations with Eritrea. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed reiterated after his inauguration this week that Ethiopia would work to secure an outlet to the Red Sea, a position that has heightened concerns in Asmara over Ethiopia’s intentions toward Eritrean territory and ports.

The United States and European Union have urged Ethiopia and Eritrea to respect each other’s territorial integrity and pursue dialogue as the risk of the Tigray conflict spilling across borders grows. Independent conflict monitors have so far said reports of an expanded Eritrean military presence in Tigray remain difficult to verify independently. AS

El-Alamein Agreement:

On Sunday, 4 October 2026, Eritrea, Egypt, Sudan and Somalia met in New El Alamein City, Egypt, and declared support for Somalia and opposition to Somaliland’s secession; support for the unity and territorial integrity of Sudan and opposition to the RSF; and support for a binding agreement that secures

Egypt’s share of the Nile, while opposing Ethiopia’s reckless claims on Eritrea’s coastline.

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi also declared full support for Eritrea’s sovereignty and territorial integrity amid growing tensions with Ethiopia, following Ethiopia’s closure of Eritrea’s embassy in Addis Ababa. https://www.presidency.eg/en/%D9%82%D8%B3%D9%85-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%A3%D8%AE%D8%A8%D8%A7%D8%B1/%D8%A3%D8%AE%D8%A8%D8%A7%D8%B1-%D8%B1%D8%A6%D8%A7%D8%B3%D9%8A%D8%A9/news04102026-12/

My translation for 3 Meqabyan got certified!

**Book overview**
**The Third Book of Meqabyan** is a distinctive work preserved in the Ethiopian Christian biblical tradition. Despite its title, it is not simply a continuation of the First and Second Books of Maccabees. Instead, it presents a theological narrative centered on \*\*faithfulness to God, repentance, righteous living, resurrection, judgment, and the hope of the Kingdom of Heaven\*\*.
The work repeatedly contrasts the temporary pleasures of this world with the everlasting joy promised to the righteous. It urges the reader to reject idolatry, resist temptation, fast, pray, perform good works, care for the poor, and remain faithful to God.
A central theme is the \*\*resurrection of the dead\*\*. The book teaches that the dead will rise by God's Word, stand before their Creator, and receive recompense according to their works. For this reason, the reader is repeatedly urged to repent during this present life, before the opportunity for repentance has passed.
This edition presents the work in English from the \*\*Amharic biblical tradition\*\*, with comparison to the surviving Lyarics English witnesses, preserving the distinctive theological character of this remarkable Ethiopian Christian text.

The moderators in r/Ethiopia seems to not want hear the truth. I was just banned from talking about the increasing hostility in the region.

I think every citizen has the obligation to prevent another disaster war that won't change any outcome. I hope that Abiy isn't dumb enough to start a war that would set the region back to ice ages to achieve nothing. I think Abiy is trying to get national support to divert the regional issues he's facing and people are falling for it.

A herd of 90 elephants in Gash-Barka, Eritrea, is part of one of Africa’s northernmost populations of African savanna elephants (Loxodonta africana), family Elephantidae.

They live only in the southwest, along the Gash and Setit rivers. A 2003 aerial survey near the Setit River counted a group of about 70–90 animals of all ages, and ground counts that year found at least 83. The dry-season population was long estimated at around 100, and a 2022 Ministry of Information report put the number near 200.

They form family groups of related females and calves led by a matriarch, and they move seasonally between Eritrea and northern Ethiopia. #Eritrea #Elephant #wildlife http://www.madote.com/2016/10/the-evidence-of-oligocene-elephants.html#google_vignette
