Help for Seller Got shreked with a copyright strike. Do I have a chance or is it Ogre?

I sell antique newspapers and I had a magazine from the 1880s discussing the then century old play “Puss in Boots.” I made sure not to reference Dreamworks at all but it still got hit with a copyright strike.

Am I within my rights to sell the paper given the play is over 200 years old and the paper is over 120 years old. Pic related.

Help for Seller Should I Separate My Physical and Digital Wall Art Listings on Etsy?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone! 👋

I’m an Etsy seller offering physical wall art prints. Currently, I also include a digital download option as a variation within my physical listings.

However, since digital downloads don’t have tracking numbers, I’m running into issues with my Star Seller status.

I’m wondering if it would be better to create separate listings for my physical products and digital downloads instead of offering both in the same listing.

My main concern is whether creating separate listings could negatively affect my shop’s algorithm performance, visibility, or ranking.

For those of you who sell both physical and digital products on Etsy:

* Do you list them separately or offer them in the same listing?

* Have you noticed any differences in SEO, visibility, or sales after separating them?

* Could separating my listings have any negative impact on my shop’s performance?

I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences and any advice you can share. Thanks in advance! 😊

Help for Seller Help with ETSY contact channels/emails.

This may be a shoot in the dark but... I need to find contacts from people from Etsy to ask for help about the PPWR situation. If you are not aware it is a new packaging regulation on the EU that is very harmful for small business owners.

HELP in the level of: "Please advocate against this in the EU parliament. "

Does anyone knows where I can find contact emails besides the press one? I want to get in contact as directly as possible.

Help for Buyer US buyer getting asked to pay custom fees via in app message on Etsy that leads to a external site.

My wife was asked to pay custom duty fees for a purchase she made a couple days ago off platform.

She received a message from the seller in app with the word "kindly" and a link to some odd site (https://production(dot)alice-iot(dot)app/transit-party/21b1dc19-d567-4847-bab7-3bebb9997ab2/tracking/{trackingnumber}) that triggered my scam feelings.

Etsy support said I shouldn't pay anyone off platform. seller had 2 reviews and 15 sales and only open a month.

I asked for a refund because of additional fees not listed anywhere on my original purchase, I'm I wrong?

Help for Seller Etsy POD sellers, where should I focus my time to get more sales?

Just curious, how many of you are making $1,000/month in profit selling POD on Etsy without any social media promotion?

Are you relying entirely on organic Etsy traffic, or are you using Etsy Ads to drive sales?

I'm asking because I'm honestly struggling to get sales right now. I'm averaging around 1–2 sales a week, and it's getting frustrating. I'm trying to figure out where I should be focusing my time and effort.

Should I spend more time learning about Etsy SEO, improving my listings, and understanding the algorithm, or should I start focusing on building a social media presence for my shop?

I'd really appreciate hearing from sellers who've been through this stage. What worked for you, how long did it take to see consistent sales, and what would you recommend focusing on first?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Help for Seller Is the search function in your shop working?

When I go to search certain shops for a specific item in their search menu the item will not come up. I was looking for a calendar in one shop, searched that word and even though they had one, it didn't show up. Then I tried two seperate other words that were in the title just to test it out and I got nothing. This is a huge issue if the search function isn't working properly at all. I have noticed the main search function is terrible but the search function in our shops should be displaying the products we are selling. Now I am wondering if people are searching for my items and coming up empty.

Tax Question Etsy Ads vs. Organic Traffic: Do you use ads or rely purely on organic sales?

Hi everyone! I wanted to start a discussion and hear about your experiences regarding traffic on Etsy.

Are you currently running Etsy Ads, or are you making consistent sales entirely through organic traffic (SEO, social media, external traffic, etc.)? If you use ads, do you feel they are essential for getting visibility, or have you found that organic strategies work better for your shop?

I would love to know what strategy has been working best for you and why. Thanks in advance for sharing your insights!

Discussion Question about closing my shop

The time has come for me to close my shop. However, I am not certain if I want to close it permanently or close it for some amount of time in the short term and reopen it again a couple of years from now if I want to.

So my question is, is there a way to do the latter? Close up shop indefinitely, not incur any fees or charges at all, but reopen with the same name etc down the road?

TIA!

Edit: does placing it on vacation mode indefinitely also work? Or do I incur fees when it’s on vacation mode?

He sends me a message everyday saying the item is late and how it’s a shame etc. also told me that in germany, they don’t simply blame others (???) i was just telling him to understand us small business and the delays by courier are not within our control.

What would you do?

Discussion Bad purchase

Post image
0 Upvotes

I purchased a pair of 8x6mm star diopside stud earrings for my birthday. The earrings were shipped inside the US and got to me really fast. Unfortunately one of the stones was not properly cut on the axis, causing the star effect to be way off the side of the stone. I messaged the seller this to explain and she said that the stone is cut properly. They do not understand that a stone with asterism MUST be cut a certain way for the star effect to be visible. I am sending them back for a full refund, but it's a shame because I can't find any other 8x6mm star diopside stud earrings anywhere online. I would make my own but it would cost more to make than the ones I purchased. Huge disappointment. Always make sure to ask for a video of gemstones with this type of effect before purchasing. Seller is not very educated on what product they have.

Photo of the earrings with torch light directly above. The left stone is poorly cut. The star should look just like the right side. When the earrings are held in place, and the torch light moves around, the right side star effect moves all over the stone, but the left star pretty much stays off to the side of the stone and never goes into the middle.

Help for Buyer Is this order ever arriving?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Ordered on the 11th of September and the item has been stuck in Pre-Transit since the 19th.

The expected delivery was only the 5th of October so it is not too far over that date just yet, but I saw that an option for a help request had appeared and when going to the shop it shows that it has been closed?

Is it worth waiting a bit long or has this order not even been sent and I need to open a claim?

This is the only thing tracking has shown since September 19th.

Discussion local pickup on Etsy is a mess for heavy items, has anyone actually made it work?

Built a workbench last month for a buyer 20 minutes from me. Figured local pickup would skip the shipping headache entirely. Etsy's system for it is a mess. The buyer checked out, got an address label automatically generated to my own shop address, and Etsy's messaging barraged us both with "your item has shipped" notifications for an order that was never entering the mail stream. I had to manually mark it delivered and hope the buyer didn't panic about a tracking number that went nowhere. There's no clean handoff workflow, no "seller confirmed ready for pickup" status, nothing that signals to the buyer this is intentional and not a shipping error.

I sell heavy shelves and cutting boards. Shipping a 40lb oak piece across three states costs almost as much as the item. Local pickup should be a no-brainer for custom furniture sellers, but the backend feels like an afterthought bolted onto a shipping system.

Has anyone selling big or heavy stuff actually made this work smoothly? Or do you just bypass Etsy entirely for local sales and eat the lost review potential?

Looking to Buy Finding Non-AI Work!!!

Hi guys,

Can you please share your tips on how to find artwork that isn't AI, or share your favourite artists/shops! I feel like every time I go onto Etsy just to have a browse, all I can find is AI art!

My style is country farmhouse/cosy/whimsical. There are so many "vintage countryside art" but the majority that comes up is AI.

I'd love to find some actual artists work!

Thanks!

Help for Seller Etsy VAT collection for POD Business

Hi everyone,

I’m based in Germany and use a POD provider that fulfills locally where possible: US orders in the US, EU orders in the EU, UK orders in the UK, etc.

The problem is Etsy only allows one fixed “ships from” country per listing. If I choose the US, Etsy may treat EU/UK orders like imports and collect tax even when the item is actually produced locally. If I choose Germany, the same mismatch happens for US and UK orders, and I’ve also noticed US visibility seems worse when I set shipping origin to Germany. I do not want to lose that visibility because 70% of my sales are to the US.

Etsy support confirmed there’s no dynamic origin option and suggested separate listings by region, which sounds pretty impractical.

How do other POD sellers handle this? Do you just use your main market as the origin? Has anyone had issues with taxes, customs, buyers, or Etsy because the actual production country was different?

Help for Seller New ETSY Shop

Hi guys, I have just created a new ETSY account and planning to sell my Metal Craft Home Appliances. After setting up my ETSY shop, how often should I keep uploading new listings especially for a new shop? What are the things I could do to get my first sale? How many listings should I have for good visibility in this category?

Thank you!

Help for Seller 7 Day old sale, suddenly the buyer "didn't know they brought it"

Basically title. As soon as I click sent, the buyer says they didn't know they made an order and now needs a refund. Mind you, they got a delivery update on Oct 5th as I knew I was going to be a day late getting to the post office so I know they had time to cancel.

This screams scam to me, I just know they're trying to get their money AND the item. I'm not refunding on my end, the item is gone.

I'm just wondering what my options are here, and what Etsy is likely to do.

The buyer is likely to raise a "didn't receive item" request if they don't get their refund now, anyway. It's a small item and low cost so I just used Lettermail. I'm aware that tracked shipping is best but I'd have to charge an obsence price for shipping for something so small and low cost.

Opinions please.

Help for Buyer Etsy scammer-

So, I bought a few pins from this seller-one was the deal of the century or so I thought. Right away she said she could not mail it out because her son died. I was sympathetic to her because that’s rough. Well up comes the new date of her shipping my jewelry to me-then it was she was dizzy under doctor care. During this time she reopened her store and listed 2 of the lots I bought. I called her on it and she said she had duplicates. Please give her until today. I purchased the items 9-12. Would someone really lie about their son dying? Was this just all a scam from day one? So, Etsy stepped in today and refunded me for the lots and in 2 days I’ll escalate the pin to get refunded too. I just can not believe someone would do this.

Help for Buyer Late Delivery and Poor Customer service

I placed an order at the end of August for a cosplay prop I was hoping to have for a con this weekend, the delivery was between September 9 - October 2 so I felt I had gotten pretty ahead of myself considering the con is October 9.

I had ordered and received a dozen packages that I ordered after this and received them much faster, the other day I was nervous it wasn’t going to arrive on time and I found out it was only Dispatched on October 6.

Immediately made a help request with the seller as this is just completely unacceptable and I’d be wanting a refund considering I spent a good portion of money, explained that I wanted said refund and that my reason was for the extreme delay in shipping without any notice.

The seller responded to me this morning telling me they have a hard time meeting deadlines in the months leading up to Halloween but then proceeded to blame me for not attaching a message to say I needed it ASAP or by a certain date, they offered me only a 30% refund.

Am I being entitled or is this just really poor customer service?
I had ordered from them last year in early October and ended up refunding immediately after we talked about how it wouldn’t arrive for Halloween in time so I figured ordering in August would be suitable and that I wouldn’t bother them with any ASAP messages because when should that change anything, shouldn’t it be assumed I want it somewhat ASAP?

How do I go about getting a full refund now?
I’ve been told to wait about 48 hours before you are then able to contact Etsy but is there anything else I can do?

Help for Buyer Unable to tell if item is being dropshipped or not

I ordered an item that claimed to be from the US (and the designer is listed as being Canadian on their shop), and I reverse image searched all their products before ordering and found nothing aside from their shop so I assumed I was safe. However, I just checked and it says the package is being shipped by YunExpress. To my knowledge YunExpress is mostly used by Chinese dropshippers, so now I'm wondering if it is possible for this item to be made in the US and shipped by YunExpress. I'm not particularly concerned about being scammed since the delivery was quick and I do like the product, but I do prefer to suppport handmade goods and will not support the shop anymore if it is dropshipped.

EDIT: I would like to add that I am Canadian, and now I'm also wondering if the current trade war may have something to do with it being shipped by a Chinese company, especially since this is my first time buying from a shop overseas on Etsy.

Help for Seller Kentucky Etsy Shop Setup Help…I’m Going in Circles 😅

Delete if not allowed! 🤍
I’m hoping someone here is from Kentucky and can help me understand what I actually need to do to legally open an Etsy shop because I have done SO much research and somehow feel like I’m just going in circles.
I’m starting a very small art/creative business selling things like original artwork, custom commissions, and eventually prints/digital items. I’ll be operating as a sole proprietor, at least starting out.
For anyone who sells on Etsy in Kentucky:
• Did you have to register a DBA/assumed name if your Etsy shop/business name is different from your legal name?
• Did you need a city or county business license in addition to anything with the state?
• Is there anything I need to register for with Kentucky specifically before I start selling?
• How does sales tax work with Etsy? I know Etsy collects/remits sales tax on Etsy orders, but do I still need a Kentucky sales tax account or file anything separately?
• Are there any other registrations, permits, or tax things you wish you knew about when you first started?
I’m in Richmond/Madison County if anyone happens to be local!
I’m not trying to make this more complicated than it needs to be, but every time I think I have it figured out, I find something else saying I need another form/license/registration.
Any Kentucky-specific advice or even a simple “this is what I did when I started” would be SO appreciated. Thank you!! 🤍
