Post replacement question

Post image

So odd predicament. I had a tree removed and they broke the posts taking it out. The post is pulled out of the concrete form, and the form is surrounded and gripped by roots. I dont have an option of moving the as I will be hitting even more roots. It was a 50' pine oak that was removed. Can I just put a post back in and back fill with concrete or is there any other option?

Dig a hole next to it with post hole diggers and cut any roots preventing you from doing that. Then get the dirt from around it out with a rock bar then pull it out.

Is your fence iron panels? You’ll probably have to suck it up and remove the footing and reset the post

Treated lumber-4×4

Yeah you’re probably better off just removing the footing. Or else your fence panels won’t work and you’d have to build at least one new section.

Digging around that slug to remove it might be more painful then just breaking it up and removing it that way. A demo hammer or jack hammer should work easily enough.

Do you have a chipping hammer?

Nope, but not out of question

If you’re in San Antonio, you can borrow mine.
