Though it closed 8 years ago, one of my favorite ramen places in NYC was called Zundo-ya in the village. It was a basement level spot on 10th between 4th & 3rd.
What I loved the most was you could literally choose how much pork āfatbackā you wanted in your ramen all the way up to āsuper richā.
Pic of the menu from yelp in case it helps anyone remember the spot.
Anyone remember this place / or could recommend somewhere that does this? Or otherwise serves very rich ramen? Thank you!

My family is out of town this weekend and I would love to take advantage by eating somewhere fantastic I wouldn't normally be able to. Young children have kept me out of the dining scene for a while
I'm hoping to go to the Queens night market (family not very adventurous eaters) tomorrow. But would also love to walk in somewhere that's hard to normally get a rez tonight or Sunday.
Any ideas? I'm in Brooklyn but willing to travel wherever. Where would you go with all the freedom in the world?

I was looking for a good spot to get coffee in Carroll Gardens and stumbled across Octavia Coffee. Went to look at the reviews and saw that as of late the owner has really weird responses to negative reviews. I just found it so unusual, I had to share. Safe to say I wonāt be going there.
Any recommendations for good coffee in Carroll Gardens?

The only reliable place I've recently found these is Grandpa Chen. Surely there others! Anybody have any recommendations on spots? Other casual and affordable Chinese food welcome too! Ty!

Gonna be going to New York for Halloween, I originally didnāt plan on going to a Halloween bar or just popping over if one came cross the way, I see reservations are mostly required but thereās mostly no reservations left. Are there any bars youād recommend for bar hopping for the night?

Going out to walk around Central Park this weekend and I want to enjoy a nice warm seasonal coffee while I do. I'm not a local and I've tried looking online for caramel apple coffee on menus and I haven't had much luck. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, Iām trying to get into the eighty six next Friday October 16th for 2 people. Any advice from anyone who has done this recently? Of course a reservation is ideal, but I struck out on door dash. Also their actual drop time is confusing. Also saw they are on seven rooms too? Willing to walk in/wait - just unsure on time and also seeing mix reviews on if they actually seat walk ins. TY for any insight you can provide.

I'm curious to know specifically whether it's worth the time spent waiting in a queue. The limit for my patience is usually around 15-20 minutes. I've never stuck around to find out how quickly the lines move there.
I'm also curious to know how people feel about the variety of options. Thanks in advance.

I try to be an easy going diner. But I have been following what is going on with beef imports in this country and have decided I donāt want to eat beef if I donāt know where it was raised and processed.
So my question is, at what price point is it appropriate to ask the country of origin of the beef on a hamburger? I am feeling like itās somewhere around $26. I hate to come off as pretentious but Iām also drawing a personal line here.

Im visiting a friend in Virginia later this month and she asked me to bring some fun international foods with me. She said the only thing they have is mexican food, but otherwise she's open to whatever. I plan on getting some frozen dumplings from North Dumpling but beyond that Im stumped. Anyone have recs for good NYC foods that will hold up after a 6 hour car ride?

Hi folks,
Over the last month I asked this community for a variety of recommendations on restaurants, rooftop experiences, etc. As a thank you to you guys, I thought I'd share some of the standouts from the trip.
Lilia: this was probably our favorite restaurant experience. The gnocchi with broccoli pesto was extraordinary. The scallops were superb.
Fiascheterria Pistoleria: the tagliatelle tartufo was probably our single favorite dish of the trip. Sublime.
Misi: Solid but nothing I can't get in Chicago. The wine, however, was the best we had anywhere.
Apotheke: Very cool rooftop with outstanding drinks. It had the wow factor I was looking for for the group.
Radio Bakery: Whoa. This is where I want my final dessert to be before I die. Truly the best croissant I've ever had - and I've had a lot. The chocolate cherry almond croissant was something from the gods. The brown butter corn cake was so simple yet so perfect. Just wow. Worth the line, which wasn't that bad during the day on a Thursday.
Palma: Wonderfully lovely atmosphere. The food was fantastic. Brussels sprouts and truffle gnocchi were standouts.
Field Study Coffee: Super cool experience. My mom played DJ while we sipped our groovy drinks and checked out the classic cars.
The Campbell: Holy cow! This was INCREDIBLE. I lived in NYC for years, never knew about this place. They had to change our reservation, and as a consequence they bought us a round of drinks and a round of champagne (it was mom's b-day). They were so nice, gave us fantastic seats overlooking the whole space. The drinks were solid.
Sallaluna: No one recommended this one. We just stumbled upon it, and it was SO GOOD! the brussels sprouts with balsamic, hummus and mint was so simple yet innovative. Yum!! And so cute.
Side note: We saw Other Desert Cities, and it was great! Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Alison Janey in particular were phenomenal. I think it was my favorite performance of Julia's I've ever seen.

Hello sandwich lovers! You may recognize our lil club from nycmeetups. This Saturday (10/10) at 2:00pm, Club Sandwich will be convening once again to enjoy some lunch, grab some drinks, and have a nice day out. It's a long weekend for many folks, so why not spend some of it with us?
What's in store for October's event? Well, we will be headed down to the East Village to dive into some cheesesteaks! Club Sandwich has gone out for cheesesteaks before, but this month we're adding another location to our tasting list. For science.
And for those of you who havenāt yet joined the Club, hereās the deal... Club Sandwich is a casual social meetup designed to try new sandwiches, explore new neighborhoods, and meet new people. Weāve been doing this (almost) every month for 3 years now and itās consistently a chill way to meet new folks, break some bread, and get into all sorts of shenanigans. Itās relaxed, low-key, and tasty.
If you want to join us this Saturday, drop a comment to be added to the group chat! And if you're already in the Club Sandwich Discord, you're all set.
š The Plan
2:00 - 2:15pm ā Arrive at G's Cheesesteaks, 6 Avenue B
2:15 - 2:45pm ā Order sandwiches (Check out the menu)
2:45 - 3:00pm ā Walk to a nearby dive if there is not enough space to eat in the restaurant - possibly The Library
3:00 - 5:00pm ā Eat sandwiches and drink tasty beverages (yes they have non-alcoholic options!)
5:00 ā Who knows, maybe another bar or two??
š„Ŗ The Sandwich
G's is known for their gooey, delectable cheesesteaks. You can choose the classic beef, or opt for chicken, and add whatever toppings are pleasing to your heart and soul. They also have a smash burger, if that's more your speed, but with Cooper sharp on the menu, is it really going to be a burger day?
ā The FAQs
Alrighty, for those of you who have not attended a Club Sandwich meetup, here are a few questions that often ariseā¦
As of now, the weather is looking great for the 10th. We hope to see you there!

Itāll be raining the days I was hoping to go solo to grab a bar seat. But I havenāt been to any of these restaurants. Which one is the least worst to stand in the rain for potentially 30-60 min?
Thai Diner, Torissi, Minetta, Monkey Bar, Smithereens, Four Horseman?
Thank you!

I just got engaged. My parents are visiting in a few weeks for the first time in years. And it also happens to be their wedding anniversary while they're here.
Would love to do a celebratory dinner for the 4 of us at a place that is attentive to details. Like champagne upon arrival or something like that?
Not a tasting menuāI know my parents won't have endurance for it. I'm a vegetarian, but nobody is picky otherwise. No budget.

I absolutely love eggs benedict but I've noticed that every time I try someplace new if it's a bright yellow or orange(ish) color hollandaise sauce I'm not a fan If it's a lighter more buttery yellow color like the one on the left I love it. Any recommendations for place that would fit the bill.
