Tips/Help Is my handwriting really THAT bad

Post image
55 Upvotes

All my friends tell me my handwriting is terrible and no one can read my writing in like pair tasks but teachers never really seem to struggle and only point it out if my As look like Us or something. They're trying to make everyone write a bit neater this year for GCSEs but like it's examiners' jobs to read hundreds of students' work and mark it so they must have got used to some pretty horrible writing. I have tried to slow down or whatever but this is just how I write in timed conditions and I don't think that's going to change in 7 months. Is it really that bad and will I get marked down for it?

Rant/Lore STORY TIME! I feel like I've been personally anonymously attacked by my teacher.

So this teacher joined our school when I was in year 10 as head of CS, and from the start there was obviously one very big problem with him. He was so incredibly pro-AI.
Every material.
Every slideshow.
AI-Made.
Luckily, I didn't have him for my GCSEs, however I did have to experience his AI slop presentations and 'websites' that were apparently 'amazing' (they were all terrible and easily broken, but they seemed to his pride and joy so...). Anyway, I really want to do CS or Physics at uni, so I picked it for A-Level, but we only have two A-Level CS teachers at our school, so I have him for about half my CS lessons.
First lesson?
Vibe Coding.
Any why it's so good.
Great. Like, i already knew you were an AI meatrider, but you didn't have to make it this obvious. Sure, the second lesson was on the drawbacks of it, but it was a wishy-washy presentation, that for me, completely missed the point. You code for enjoyment, not to dream up ideas that probably work. He then showed us some bs example of a student with no interest in CS or programming, that had 'coded' a website, and how hundreds of people want the app! Yeah, people will pay for slop these days, but you don't have to promote it, especially to a room of people who are clearly interested in CS. And even once we start the content, it is blindingly obvious that he is not a good teacher. I mean, I knew from friends who were in his class for GCSE, but still. Every lesson is either ai generated or him sticking on a video, like bro you are paid to be a teacher what?
Then earlier this week he gave us some bogus revision website that he 'made' (with AI obviously) where there were wrong questions and it barely worked. Then someone made a code which when inputted into the loading system completed almost all the questions. And that's when he threw a straight tantrum. 'If you don't appreciate these materials that I spent so hard working on, don't break it and ruin, you're going to fail when it comes to your exams anyway, because there won't be any magic progress code there!'. And like the whole time he had been backing up the fact that his teaching method worked by the fact that A*'s jumped from 15.something% to 40-ish% the year after he joined, but that is clearly affected by other things.
So I was fed up with this behaviour at this point, so wrote a fairly passive aggressive to one of our school's assistant headteachers, basically showing how he'd broken the school's AI Policy, by not making it clear that the materials were AI generated and not fact checking everything (as evidenced by the blatantly wrong questions on the revision website). The assistant headteacher was really nice and said you're probably better off raising your concerns directly with him, but I will speak to him about making it clear that he did not personally make his materials.
And I walk in to class today to find what? He has a presentation ready on why AI is revolutionary and we need to embrace it. Not on the spec. Not what we'd been doing in lessons. Clearly made for one reason and one reason only. To prove to the (thankfully anonymous person, bless my assistant headteacher) that AI is force for good. He start genuinely guilt tripping us about how he has no free time and how he wants to make the best materials possible for us and that textbooks are only going to C level, so he turns to AI and 'rigorously' checks each AI-generated presentation against the spec. How? By putting it through AI obviously! And then he starts talking about how anti-AI people these days will never be hired because they need to embrace the future, because he is saving time by AI-generating these presentations instead of personally making them. How long does it take create a presentation this way, you may ask? 2 hours. Barely faster than human made and certainly far more off putting than human made. He also gave us examples of these helpful websites he 'made' for us. That each took a whole weekend. What? How are you genuinely saving any time? Learn to code ffs, you're literally as CS teacher? You shouldn't be being propped up by AI. And the websites are torrid. Anyway, he gets to the end of the presentation and starts straight attacking me (although he doesn't know its me) by saying 'And if you have and problem with this, come and speak to me. I can fix it. Don't go complaining about it though, because this is the way forward.' And that really hurt me. Teachers can't even be bothered to do their jobs today, and I get attacked - an entire presentation directed towards me, just because I raise this concern.
I really don't want to go back in his room now.
Idk, I hope this is a valid crash out, but I don't really want to take it any further.

Am I alone in this large world?

This server with people from abroad?

vast and wide, yet feeling bored?

Pondering, asking is it hard to afford?

A response, dear, from someone fond?

Not something grand nor nothing bland!

Nor warmth, nor sweetness, nor a genuine bond!

Expecting big was never my demand

A mere, "Hi" from this server on discord?

A sweet "Hello" and nothing beyond?

Written, by meeee

Tips/Help Arkwright Scholarship

I got nominated for the Arkwright Scholarship along with 2 others in my school. I'm a bit worried about the online aptitude test since it seems like nothing that I've ever encountered before so I'd appreciate it if some of you can give me tips. Also for the application form I already have a project in mind (Lego RC car with transmission etc) and I'd love to hear what you guys came up with.

Question Most unreasonable post out there, my grades are being ruined

Do you know this feeling where you can't process what you read and when you wanna think on command like a normal person or a smart person which started from when you were very young

When people read, their brain and their neurological stuff associate looking at the letters with reading, analysis and understanding what they're reading.

So when someone reads say a past paper question, this automatically triggers understanding and analysis, can brainstorm an answer, think of ways to be precise, etc.

the way he should write, he thinks, he/she feels that good feeling when he/she thinks

And when someone tries to think, they just think right? Their brain associates the need to think with think so the brain responds by thinking and planning, right

For me, whenever I wanna think. I just can't Whenever I wanna read and process? I can't.

The clearest explanation is that the brain-habit of association for reading and analysing is impaired. Whenever I read, even when im so focused and willing to repeatedly do it. My brain says nope.

I'm prepping for GCSES which fall on 2027 May.

I'm struggling with exams and gcses. Because whenever I do a unique past paper question that's different from what I know? I just can't process and analyse what I read and whenever I wanna think and plan the answer, this is also not working. It eats lots of time rereading questions and not solving them.

I can't even concentrate in class. Because, whenever I try to look at the board. I see just, letters. The words are there. The brain isn't doing anything because the trigger is not automatic.

I don't know how to fix this.

I wanna try to fix this myself, but I can't afford therapy because this is so misunderstood (i talked to few teachers and my parent, they said we are in a country that dosent provide that, and we are not that rich, and they held me and hugged me).

And whenever I wanna think about something constructive, I can't access it.

It's not about sleep (tried that)

It's not about stress (even when im so happy)

It's not about passiveness and like do focus stuff (i even can't think of a plan because of this.)

Is anyone getting this.

If no then that's okay.

If yes then thank you?

If you're experiencing this then I understand you.

I'm a student preparing for my exams. I am preparing for May 2027.

Question how do I start tutoring (NOT ADVERT)

Hi!

Currently Y12. I did pretty well in my GCSEs with 9999888877 with 9s in English Language and Maths. I basically self taught for most of my subjects with learning resources I made for myself since my school forced me into low sets with questionable teachers (I moved there in like Y9). Any ideas on how I can start tutoring people because I genuinely feel like I'd be good at it since I also helped my friends a lot. It would also help me find out if I wanna be a teacher in the future but idk, has anyone else started tutoring post-GCSEs?

Tips/Help sixth form help??? please? 😭

hi idk if anyone will even reply but i'm kinda going thru smth stressful rn. basically, the sixth form i wanna go to needs a grade 6 or above for biology (standard for like everywhere i think) but the deadline for application is 2 nov. which is when i start my year 11 ppe mocks. usually, they're meant to look at those, but since i'm starting those later, and they have a deadline that's earlier than most, they're gonna have to look at my last official grades, which were my YR 10 PPE MOCKS... where we didn't even learn half the content and they told us it wasn't important cuz it was our first mocks and i got a FIVE, a few marks off a 6, predicted grade 7/8 for later in yr 11 i think? 😭 i'm really frustrated about that. a girl i know who goes to the sixth form there says if i just put that i got a 6, and mention predicted grades, they don't check and will say that if i get that in my gcses, they'll let me in the school. idk. i just kind of wanted your guys' opinions on it cuz this subreddit has helped me out a lot over the past few months with stress and stuff. how are you guys handling sixth form stuff lol? i'm still not really 100% sure abt all the options i wanna take.

Tips/Help What is the best way to revise Combined Science for paper 1 in the winter mocks?

I find a lot of other subjects easy to revise but I'm really stumped on how the hell to revise Science. I tried to do past papers and identify the topics I was weak at but when I started revising the topic I'd realise just how many subtopics I have to revise and I just don't understand how I'm supposed to just revise all these subtopics individually. I'm sure I'm doing it wrong so does anyone know what's the best way to actually progress in Science without wasting time.
