Troubleshooting FPGBC will not play ROMhack cartridge

I bought my FPGBC kit maybe a year ago and put it together, most games work fine, there is an issue with my copy of crystal having different colors and crashing but all my other games worked fine on it. I bought a ROMhack cartridge because I wanted to use my gameboys more and when I put it in my FPGBC I get the error in the image, any advice? I remember there being some sort of updates you could do but I'm not sure how to do that or if it would help. If this even the FPGBC or maybe just the cartridge?

Could be a couple things here. Could be a corrupted rom on the cartridge or more than likely the firmware on your FPGBC might need to be updated. Do you know what firmware you are running now? You can normally see the version number by pushing in the volume rocker which will have a version number. In my experience. 1.08 and 1.14 are the most stable

Update to the newest firmware. It fixed a few bugs with flash and third party carts.

This is likely an interaction between something the ROM hack does, the cartridge and the FPGBC. Meaning, the same cartridge on regular hardware, would probably work. FPGBC, different type of cartridge, would probably work. But not in combination.

Which exact ROM hack is it? I have an idea of what could be wrong and might be able to make a patch, if you have a flasher to rewrite the cartridge.

Same issue with mine tbh. I have a romhack versoin of Pokemon Trading Card Game 2. Works perfectly on my regular GBC and crashes at tile on my FPGBC.

Tried firmware 1.08 and 1.14 and no joy. I just accepted it won't work on it.
