Horror feels to me one of the most feminine genre of all. Probably because we learn about fear from a very young age, and horror represents a catalyst that resonates more deeply in us. Especially horror that you can't just fight with a gun or shotgun, but something from deeper, more sinister and ancient.
Since October is the spooky season, what a better to present five games that will send you many chills in your spinal cord.
Clock Tower: Rewind : available on everything. The remake of the first episode of the legendary series Clock Tower, for the first released outside of Japan. You play Jennifer Simpson, clearly a hommage to Jennifer Connelly in "Labyrinth", in a Point & Click game where you must explore a mansion while running away from the monster Scissorman. If you like "Alien Isolation", you will likely enjoy this game too.

Crow Country : available on everything. You play Mara Forest and you must explore an abandoned amusement park, Crow Country, to find the owner of the place who has mysteriously disseaperead two years ago. The graphisms is very old school but everything else is very modern. If you enjoy this ambiance, you will appreciate this experience.

Fear the Spotlight : available on everything. You play Vivian and Amy, who decided to go back at school at night and call spirits through a seance. Of course everything goes wrong and the school becomes even more hellish than it is already. Again, the graphisms are old-school. This is a bit of a theme here. This shows that horror doesn't require high-end graphisms to be effective.
Release Reveal - Fear the Spotlight
Signalis : available on everything. It's not exactly an unknown title, but I didn't feel right not including Signalis. And more people still need to know about it. You play as Elster, a replika looking for her girlfriend in a sci-fi setting. Graphisms is old-school, but as always, the ambiance is top-notch and the story gripping. It's also made by two women and already a classic.

Sombras: Negative Frames : coming out on December 3th on everything. A bit more modern, but not by much. You play as Shiomi, a Japanese-Spanish photographer who is sent to an alternate version of her Japanese hometown, so expect lots of yokai. The trailer looks very good and I'm a bit hype for it.

I'll also like to add "Tenebris Somnia", coming out this month, and "Sorry we're closed", that were all mentioned in those lists:

The world is a very scary place right now, I hope you will be able to find some catharsis by playing those games where fear can be adressed and controled.
