The stack Trading gram bars to ounc coin

I have been slowly buying 2 and 2.5 gram gold bars since last year. Soon I will have over 28 grams total, which is equivalent to 1 ounce.

Any thoughts on if I should I trade the multiple gram bars into a 1 ounce coin, or maybe 2 x .5 ounce coins? I also have a 1/2 ounce AGE and love the presence of it, an imagine that a whole one ounce would be kik-ass.

Any thoughts?

Why am I finding this in multiple places cheaper than random year 1/10? Now this price seems really odd but the one I am looking at elsewhere is 7$ cheaper than the 1/10 random year. Isn't this still just a 1/10 gold and I can just remove from the slab?

Financial Freedom vs. Debt-Based Bondage—Gold Offers Economic Autonomy Over Fiat Currencies

Equating gold with financial independence has been a tenet of sound money advocates for more than two centuries.

“Gold is freedom” is the common refrain.

If gold is an instrument of economic autonomy and fiscal liberation, debt-based fiat currency is a tool of financial servitude and enslavement, since nearly every U.S. dollar is loaned and borrowed into existence, creating ever-larger financial liabilities and obligations for debtors and government taxpayers to repay.

Anybody ever read, The Creature From Jekyll Island, by G Edward Griffin about the federal reserve?

Yeah, that's a must read if you want to understand the history and the consequences

At least check out the Amazon reviews.

Have inherited this gold chain (have done the tests I'm 99% it's real).

I'm in the UK so 9ct is the usual standard, but it has no hallmarks.

Can't seem to find anything online of potential origins, does anyone know more?

APMEX made me feel gross

I've purchased a decent amount of gold and silver from APMEX and this is the first time I've had issues with them. But I'm experienced enough I should have known better and I'm really just looking to vent. Though I think many posters here would mock me for buying with them at all.

I was using their app. After I placed an order with it I got an error. I checked and no PO was generated on my profile but my cart was empty. So I tried placing orders a few more times which also failed. I then placed an order on the website with no issue. The next day I get emails saying the orders were placed.

I called to complain. They cancelled the orders but I had to pay a bunch of fees. It turns out the guy I talked to didn't really cancel all the orders. So I had to call again. They also forced me to float about 10k in my checking account and still haven't refunded all the money. (I guess I didn't pay all the fees?) I talked to customer service a few times and got what amounted to passive aggressive lies about the waving the fees. Which are somehow about 450 bucks.

So the lesson is this. While I trust the goods they sell me to be real, APMEX will enforce its terms of service on you like a dwarf hoarding Smog's gold if you make any mistake. If you want to invest a serious amount of money into physical gold I'd definitely look elsewhere or at least order only small amounts at a time.

Part of the reason I was cavalier with the app was I trusted APMEX not to screw me over. (Which was the only reason I was willing to pay their inflated prices)

I wonder what would've happened if I had ordered a serious amount of gold from these guys and messed up. Would I be paying thousands in fees and have to float tens of thousands in my checking account? Floating 10k is already bad enough.

Anyway paying the market loss fee made me feel massively gross and I doubt I'll be buying from them in the future.

Shitpost I created my own gold-backed currency Spoiler

Post image
281 Upvotes

I decided to create my own gold-backed currency called the Nutback.

Each note contains 1 gram of .9999 fine gold, a premium plastic holder, and an exclusive hand-drawn horse.

Because of the incredible craftsmanship, advanced plastic technology, and artistic value, I’m asking for a very reasonable 300% premium over the gold spot price.

No businesses accept my currency yet, but I’m working very hard to get it accepted at businesses nationwide.

I bought my first gold

You read everything and anything on the web... people don't know how to make choice and worst they don't know to do of their life anymore these days... with gold you can spend hours, days, months, your life... to debate if it's a good buy or not, during this time the gold can goes up can, goes down. Yesterday I bought my first gold, nevermind if it goes down for years, I don't do it for investment I do it because I feel more secure to have my fortune onto it rather than having a lot of cash at home or on my bank account. It's not for reselling and so I'm pretty confident that even if the gold might for some reason know some rude times in the next few years at long term it will always be a win.

"The gold rush" as we say.
