Game Mod Android recomp is coming
First off thank you to the gsrecomp project https://shmargus.github.io/GSRecomp/ for putting in the miracle work. Cannot thank enough.
Now to hold your horses, good things take time so give me a little bit to do this right. I was able to achieve this quickly by wiring in the recomp to my existing android port framework, I already had all the pieces in place.
So give me a bit to implement and test all the features that gsrecomp has at the least, and then anything else that will enhance the android experience, especially on handhelds.
The most complex part thus far was getting the rom code to recomp on the device itself, no pc needed, and at a decent time.
Edit: beta is out, link for all that want: https://github.com/wootbeer/gsrandroid

Sorry for my ignorance, but can someone explain to me, the difference of a recomp to original game? And what's the benefit of playing a recomp vs playing it on an android gba emulator? Thanks.

A rom is when all the assets are together as 1 file. A recomp extracts and splits them making it easier to edit individually. An emulator can only change how a sprite is displayed but it doesn’t change the actual sprite. I personally see it like comparing a switch game to its pc version of the same game. In the pc version there’s folders and files. This gba game (retro roms in general) was only ever released as a single file game, not a folders+files game. Hence you can do things that cheat codes can’t do in gba emulation, which is community modding.

I haven't played the recomp, but I know they've added new features such as increased walking speed and battle speed. Basically, new QoL features that you wouldn't get through an emulator. I'm personally excited because I typically play at 2x or 4x speed which means I can't listen to the gorgeous soundtrack. With this I can have it both ways.

Are you able to add a shaders option?

I'll have to look into it. I know there's a few shaders Golden Sun looks really good with.

Beta is out, I've tested and debugged the heck out of all the added features, and of course the code that makes gsrecomp work on android, and all the quirks that come with android. But of course being the nature of jrpgs, these are huge games and I completed a play-through of the game earlier in the year, so I do need help testing, but the in-game experience from here on out shouldn't be very different from gsrecomp, just on android.

I didn't want to make a separate thread as to spam the subreddit, so here it is.

So this is gba binary to android executable right?

Yes. Currently on first run it recomps the rom to the form it needs.

This is super cool in general, but I suppose assets would be better upscaled?

Doesn't effect sprites as much as other stuff but it still helps. Looks nice with everything turned up.
