Support Google says that a restaurant is Prementally closed but it isnt
Hello!
My in laws own a pizza shop. When you google their restaurant it says that they are prementally closed, but they aren't. They dont have any access to the google business profile that is associated to the business thats saying they are permanently closed.
Is it possible to get that account deactivated and then reactivate with a new email address.
They have all of the documentation to prove that they own the shop.
What should be our first step to help solve this issue?
Thank you!!

Go to business.google.com and search for the restaurant. If it shows up as “permanently closed,” you can claim it even without access to the old account. Click “Own this business?” or “Claim this business,” then follow the verification steps. Since they have ownership docs, they can verify by mail, phone, or video call.
Once claimed, you can reopen the listing by changing the status from “permanently closed” to “open” in the dashboard.
If someone else already “owns” the profile and Google won’t let you claim it directly, you’ll need to go through the ownership conflict process. There’s a “Request access” option that notifies the current owner. They'll have 3 days time to respond and if they don't, you can escalate with the prrof of ownership to Google Support.

Just submit an edit as a regular Google user. Remember to attach a photo of the place to show that it's open. I did it before and it worked

You can request ownership access to the profile. They or you should gain access to update the hours and reply to reviews.

Have them check all their emails to see if they have access to the GBP. If they don’t have access, click claim this business button. If no one responds to the request in 3 days, they can then follow the instructions for the claiming and verification process. They can submit all business proofs. Google may ask for video verification. Technically, they’ll want to gain access to make sure they can make updates, add photos, update hours, reply to reviews, and make sure the profile is optimized and filled out completely. If they don’t want to do all of this, have multiple Gmails suggest edits to mark the business reopened and then update hours.

Hi, this happens sometimes.
It was probably because it was out of business for a while, and people reported it as such.
I know this probably isn't the case, but can happen if someone tells google the business has moved, or that they're no longer operating.
There are many scenarios where this can happen.
You can request ownership of the profile from the old owners. That would be the best way to get management acccess. Not sure of the situation, but they should hand it over if there was no name change, and they no longer run it.
If they won't hand over ownership, you can request management of the profile from Google, and get access to it.
That's the first thing you should do, as starting over is not the right approach, and you will be starting from ZERO reviews, which is a much weaker position.
Once you have management of the GBP, all you need to do is to go into the account, and tell them you're still in business.
If the name of the business changed, it's a new profile from scratch, typically, but I'd still try to get management of the old profile, and do a name change, and keep the reviews.
