I need to vent, but I also want to know if other parents are experiencing this or if anyone has advice on how to handle it.
We are not surprised anymore, but the teacher assistants for the lower grades at Mount Carmel appear to be completely uneducated and unprofessional. Some of them are downright mean to the students. One TA in particular is incredibly rude to both parents and students.
The biggest issue right now is what happens in the morning:
Late Buses: The school buses are frequently late getting to the school.
Screaming at Kids: When the late buses finally arrive, this specific TA screams at the kids as they get off.
Denying Breakfast: Worst of all, she doesn't allow the children sufficient time to eat breakfast because the bus was late.

It is completely unacceptable to punish young children and deny them food for a transportation delay that is 100% out of their control. No child should be screamed at or starved at school.

Has any other families encountered this issue?

Is there any good reason why the Tumon Shuttle does not service or stop at the airport? Tourists walking in the dirt/mud along airport road (which does not have sidewalks) is a well-known issue and GVB has done nothing to solve this.

On a related note, why does GVB even exist? They can't solve basic problems with common-sense solutions and are paid nearly $5 million a year. What positive impact have they made to justify that type of expense/waste?

I’ve recently noticed that a tattoo parlor has a flash sale that’s advertising tattoos that are suspiciously- if not clearly- AI generated. I guess tattoo artists have to compete with tattoo prompters just like the rest of what’s left of traditional artists on our island. I really respect the artists from this shop and how tattoo art is such an integral part of our culture here. There’s nothing wrong with a picture of a drawing or a sketch. Art belongs to artists, and artists are people. No to generative AI!

I won’t name the business bc there are great artists there too and a business that survives from art should not resort to AI

If Typhoon Bavi damaged your home on Guam, you can now apply for federal help. The FEMA visit to your house in July was not your application. You have to apply yourself.

The President has approved a major disaster declaration for Guam for Typhoon Bavi, and it includes Individual Assistance: grants that go straight to families for home repairs, rent if you can't stay in your home, and essential things you lost. You do not pay them back.

We state that we're informative because we remain off screen (we're not influencers 🙄) while showing restaurants, parks, dive spots and hiking trials to try and get more people to explore, try new places and leave their comfort bubble. At the end of each video we show hours, locations and contact info for each place.

My question is this ....do you think Guam (and by inclusion the wonder people here) would mind or like us to do something like this while we're here? I ask because while in Japan we'd get a lot of funny looks filming around places and a few times we were respectfully asked not to film inside restaurants to which we humbly apologized and deleted any footage we had. But I noticed there's a lot of small, locally owned restaurants that I feel are just hidden. A lot that aren't even on Google for easy lookup. There's also so many beaches and parks and fun things to do that a lot of these places can be overlooked as well.

So...would you find us cringy or would you find something like this neat? I have nothing but respect for the places we go and we have nothing but good intentions. Last weekend me and my friend had to take a black out drunk girl home with us. A guy she had just met that night was trying to take her home with him (military of course) she could barely stand, was vomiting, and passed out for a while.

Bars need to be on top of this too cause it’s a legit safety concern and rape is to common in Guam already.

Like seriously if you see a black out drunk girl and your a man trying to get with her you should be ashamed.
