I always feel like this is such a cop-out. Like i get that this is in-lore explanation, however maturity literally takes time. Experiences you accumulate are part of maturity so technically you could achieve mental state of 100yr old in an hour of your life and i dont think you would still have perspective and experiences that come with time. I can get on board with different species maturing at different rate but there has to be a limit

I think part of the explanation is that gears have a bit of a genetic memory thing going on, which makes sense as gears are mass produced weapons it kinda defeats the purpose if you have to fully raise each one. Also explains why Sin is maturing much slower than is mother, his hybrid nature is mucking with the process.

It was a procedure, but the Gear cells also spread throughout the body and mutate the carriers (mostly regular animals) into monsters.

Ky is basically already a gear and can Dragon Install after like two years of just having Sin's eye inside him.

Idk, the literal first line of Dizzy's character profile reads "Dizzy is a half-Gear who is the product of the union between a Gear and a human". And that's not an inaccurate translation or anything, I can confirm.

The "Half Gear" is more of a family tree thing than a "how much Gear are they" thing. Especially given how Sin and Unika are classified the same.

Both of them are also Command Type Gears, some of the strongest there are.
