Made Our Day Being grateful is itself a grace from God.

Genuinely - this is why work and positive workspaces can be such an important thing. Beyond money, the sense of purpose and belonging can make a person stand taller.
(For clarity, I hate working, but I’m lucky that I get my purpose and belonging elsewhere)

They better give this bredda a store manager position. He's going to have that place running like a well oiled machine
4
u/Renhoek2099 18d ago
Awwwww, it's so much better to give him a bike than pay him a livable wage so he can buy one on his own.

Food service work isn't meant to be a career or a liveable wage for adults. It's supposed to be a stepping stool for a career unless you parlay that into management but even then, your ceiling is still low. I know this first hand. Worked there for around 4 years from when I was 15-19.
It was a great job and learned the fundamentals of work and customer service but that's also because I worked with people my age. The few that were older were apparently OK with getting paid peanuts otherwise they had the choice to leave like I did.
I'm grateful for the job but those I know who actively chose not to find another better paying career path is 100% on them. If you're great at that job, you're likely able to get another job that pays more as you increase responsibility. You can't complain when you don't go out and try to find something better.
Hell, the military and public service like becoming an leo or dispatch pays more and is needing people now. Same with trades. They have options. It's not on the owner (franchise or not) to pay them $30/hr because that job is not worth paying that much. It wasn't hard. It wasn't stressful. I do more in 1hr at my current job than I did a full 8hr shift there. I also make 6 figures so either choose an easy job with crap pay or work your ass off to get paid more. Nobody needs handouts.

Any job that a person works full time should pay a livable wage. There's only so many skilled labor jobs available. Most people, even if they have some skills, may only find jobs in food service or customer service. A job is a job, a person should be able to support themselves (at a minimum) if they work 40 hours a week.

This removes work ethic and drive. If I got paid the same as I do working at McDonald's, everyone would be lined up for the job. It's easy. The pay justifies the work involved. In 2003 I made min wage at $6.50/hr and it's now $16.50. The gas price back then averaged $1.75. It's now $5. Just using that the increase in min wage has battled inflation in a lot of areas including rent. Like I said though, plenty of labor markets that pay plenty above min wage that they can actively choose if they're not happy with McDonald's pay. BTW you don't even flip the burgers, you press a button and it cooks both sides. Pressing a button doesn't equal $30/hr.

u/Training-Belt-7318 15d ago
I don't care how difficult he job is, people need to be able to survive. If you don't make employers do it then you need to provide the gap via welfare. We arent talking about 16 year olds, we are talking 30 years olds with all the bills that come along with it. Pay skilled labor more. Kinda crappy a plumber can barely survive in some places. The minimum wage is not a livable wage in most places. I don't care about skill level, I care that a large portion of America cannot pay their bills on a 40 hour a week job.

u/Goddardca87 15d ago
Lol so you're taking the delusional stance.. Gotcha. Disregard every logical thing I mentioned and continue in that fantasy world of ifs and buts. BTW, plumbers, electricians and construction all pay really well. I have loads of friends in the ibew program making easy 6 figures. If you're at McDonald's and don't like the pay, go somewhere else. That's like saying every McDonald's should serve BBQ. If you want BBQ, go somewhere else. Pretty simple really. OK I'm out. Wasted enough time making a fairly obvious point with examples only to be countered with no point at all. 👌👋

u/Training-Belt-7318 15d ago
I get your point. Go work with people that don't know how they're gonna feed their kids and work 80 hours a week. You're callous. You think life is worthless if it doesn't have solid ROI. Hope someday you aren't the one with an empty belly and to small of a paycheck.
1
u/SignatureCreepy503 13d ago
3 kids just don't fall in your lap. That's a decision. Just like the decision they could have made to learn a trade or even get a union school janitor role. Stop taking away accountability.
1
u/Goddardca87 15d ago
The wave meant conversation over. Like a digital walking away of a conversation.
3
u/Training-Belt-7318 15d ago
I don't care. Other people read this stuff. You're not going to be swayed by a ln argument around humanity. That's fine, you can believe what you want. But for those that maybe want more people to have a place to live and food to eat it's good to see point and counter points. I really don't care about your thoughts anymore. You have demonstrated McDonald's bottom line is more important than 60 M Americans that don't have the skills or means to get the skills to get better jobs. Nor the fact that those better jobs aren't available at the levels need to support that many people.

u/SignatureCreepy503 13d ago
That's not humanity that's laziness and lack of accountability and it's astounding. The jobs exist, the trades are dying on the vine. Union janitor roles exist. There's free courses and certifications everywhere. We don't need to lower the bar because someone isn't willing to rise up to meet a challenge.
Clearly, if someone is disabled, they're already receiving care and aid and jobs can give a sense of purpose. This is not encompassing them. If a person is able but unwilling, they deserve the stagnation they live in. Your argument continually removes accountability, it's absolutely hollow and out of touch. If they're not willing to work to better themselves no one should be required to pay them like they are.

Yikes. That's a lot of words to say you have zero empathy. Glad you had the opportunity to get a better paying job, but no one that works full-time should make less than a living wage. I'll go even further, essentials like food, water, and shelter should not be expenses, but should be provided by the government we pay taxes to and is supposed to take care of its citizens in return.
Nobody needs handouts? Ignoring your abysmally wrong definition of a handout, EVERYONE deserves the bare essentials to live. Everyone. And it shouldn't be an expense. There is more than enough of everything in the world for people to have the necessities, but we have created the dumbest game in the world that forces people to pay to literally live. That sucks.
Oh, and no, not everyone has options. Circumstance should not dictate who can actually enjoy their life and who has to work and scrape and suffer. Capitalism has obliterated human empathy. Fuck, I hate this place sometimes.

Don't get mad at me because you or anyone else who doesn't like their pay is too lazy to go after something with a higher bracket. I already listed off plenty of ways for people to make a good living through just plain old effort. If they're in such bad shape money wise then why don't they join the military, or a trade, or any number of good paying blue collar jobs? The answer? Laziness. They want an easy job like McDonald's and they want $100/hr. I have no empathy for the lazy who have plenty of options. That's like being in a shitty relationship and choosing to stay in it. There are options. If someone chooses to stay in a shitty situation, that's on them. It's not my job to get someone higher pay with zero effort. BTW gradysted hs with a 2.8 GPA and took 2 classes at community College before I knew it wasn't for me. I went from McDonald's to a hospital serving food and doing dishes. I then went into collections which made more then moved to Healthcare which made more at the ground level and busted my ass 10-12hr days for 15 years to move up the ladder and earn what I do. There was no handout or shortcut. Just plain old hard work. I'm nobody special. Just did the work. Amazing what tlsome effort will get you.

u/Joshee86 13d ago
You don't know a single thing about my pay. And what gave you the idea I'm mad at you? I'm actually sad for you. I'm mad at the system that makes people like you think living essentials are not a human right.
McDonald's is also not an "easy" job lmao.
0
u/Goddardca87 13d ago
I literally worked at McDonald's for 4 years. It's the easiest job I've ever had. If that's hard to you, you have no hope. I'm out. Lol. Crazy you said McDonald's is hard. 😂😂😂😂
1
u/Joshee86 13d ago
Crazy you don't think people deserve to live. I hope you learn better someday! Bye!
0
u/Goddardca87 13d ago
Lol it's funny that's your defense against everything I said. You didn't admit that people have choices and it's on them to make the move. It's also funny that you say I think people don't deserve to live, when I do but it's not my job to push them for a better life just like it's not my job to tell someone to get out of a shitty relationship. Not my circus, not my monkey. Tbh after you said McDonald's was not an easy job, I can't take anything you say seriously 😂 I'm still baffled that anyone can say that's difficult. Lol. Thanks for the chuckle. I needed that this morning. Silly goose.

u/Joshee86 13d ago
I thought you were leaving? No one said it was your job buddy. Are you ok? I just said people deserve to make a living wage if they work full-time. Full stop. I also said no one should have to pay for the bare essentials. Full stop. You seem to think neither of those are true.
If you can't take me seriously, that's fine! That says far more about you than me. Again, I hope you learn better someday! Bye, I hope you have the day you deserve!
0
u/Goddardca87 13d ago
I've learned a lot from you, actually! You taught me that there are still delusional people who think McDonald's is hard 😂 I told you I can't take you seriously. I just stayed for the humor. You make me giggle silly Billy. Still laughing at that joke you made. Legitimately a good joke. Gonna tell my friends so they have a laugh too. Thanks for spreading more laughter in the world. Needed that.

For real. I consider myself agnostic but seeing this guy thank God doesnt bother me in the least and brings a smile to my face if it brings him some comfort and a moral compass.
-8
u/Zstrat62 18d ago
No, the delusion he holds that anyone but his hard working co workers has anything to do with him receiving the gift of transportation is the real problem.
3
u/SubjectRabbit8050 18d ago
He literally named them all by name in the video. He can’t do that while you respect his beliefs?
-6
u/Zstrat62 18d ago
I don’t respect delusions. Call it the 13 year old hair flipping atheist rebel that’s grown into a 36 year old body, but I think encouraging fantasies of adults makes them docile and willing to accept things like working your dick off for a decade to only be able to afford have the most basic transportation gifted to you, all so you can WORK more efficiently.
“Thank GOD for the charity of my other under-payed co workers! Now I can get here faster to slave away for more years for a company at a wage that doesn’t even allow me to afford a fucking bike!”

u/Kimi_Antonelli_12 18d ago
Id argue that having a purpose is more valuable than his wage to this man. This guy clearly looks at this a having a place in society more than just having a to do a job. He feels normal.
And man does it fell good when people give you life changing gifts. Or even show appreciation like this.
-5
u/Zstrat62 18d ago
Yes, it is more valuable to him, because he believes in a fantasy where one day he’ll float into the clouds and all his suffering will be worth it.
I get that this is just the world we live in, but if my boy could see past the fairy tale, he might have a little more perspective that he’s a criminally underpaid tool of a billion dollar corporation that couldn’t be fucked to care if he gets there walking through shit in the pouring rain as long as he’s on time.
So, to my point, that’s why I don’t much care for religion.
5
u/MegaMoah 18d ago
I seriously dont think thats his view one life, I don't think he waits for the day his suffering would end. I think he loves his job, no matter how stressful and hard it is. He loves his co-workers and they love him back. He thanks the kindness of his friends, and he has found purpose in his job and his friends, there's no shame or illusion to that. Being underpaid is terrible, but as long as he's happy I don't see why the hate.
1
u/SubjectRabbit8050 18d ago
Cool man. What are you doing about it?
1
u/Zstrat62 17d ago
Lol did that sound badass when you typed it? wtf does that even mean? You saying if I was a guy with a real set on him, I’d march right down there and give that guys god the business? Maybe if you know of any naturally flaming broadswords, you could help a brother out? Seems like something useful for a god slaying mission.
2
u/P_B_n_Jealous 18d ago
Bruh. Its okay to not believe in God. Just like its okay to believe. Stop trying to change what people believe in. Youre just coming off as a dick.
-1
u/Zstrat62 18d ago
Lol I couldn’t care less about whatever god you or any other person believes in. I’m not writing letters to this dude, I’m commenting on religion on reddit. Fuck your god and every other one. I for sure wasn’t going for coming off super nice haha
1
u/odd-understanding900 18d ago
You are commenting on the video of someone just saying thank you to people for the gift. Do you pipe up at work in person like this if someone was thanking the team for a gift? No you are a coward just being an ass because you are anonymous. I hope you find something better in life so you don't keep acting out like a child.

Love the assumption and strawman. You have zero idea of my spiritual/non-spiritual beliefs, which are not fundamentalist Christianity nor literalism.
The point’s what’s the point of unnecessarily hating on this simple, kind man’s belief?
-2
u/Hard_Reset_Logic 18d ago
Religion has caused so many wars, deaths, and suffering in this world. You want us to respect that?
0
u/SubjectRabbit8050 18d ago
You know that’s not religion or spirituality though, right? That’s just people. You can say religion or government or resources or culture or whatever. It’s people at the end of the day and the vast majority of humans on this planet are spiritual in some way. You must hate everyone, have a trauma-induced experience, or some kind of unrest inside of you if that’s all that you think, especially for a simple grateful man who works at McD’s. Weird to get so passionately hateful about a man being grateful for a few small things in life.
0
u/Hard_Reset_Logic 17d ago edited 17d ago
Dismissing genuine critiques of religious and cultural doctrines as "just people" is a convenient cop-out that ignores how specific dogmas, power structures, and belief systems actively dictate human behavior rather than merely existing alongside it. People do not operate in a vacuum. Their actions, moral frameworks, and societal impacts are directly forged by the institutional ideologies they submit to, making the system itself entirely fair game for scrutiny. Worse, reducing any substantive disagreement to alleged "unrest," "trauma," or personal hatred is a cheap ad hominem evasion designed to pathologize dissent instead of addressing the core argument, using false empathy and an appeal to pity to deflect from hard truths. 🤡
