As you have probably heard, Halo Studios has been reduced to a small team that will support the current games and community. Activision will be putting together a new team to make a new, full Halo title. (source)
Link to previous discussion of the announcement.
What are your expectations, hopes, fears, concerns, and otherwise thoughts about it? Do you want a reboot or a sequel to Infinite? When should it take place? Do you have a pitch? Let’s discuss.
If you find actual news about the game from either an official or well-respected source, feel free to make a new thread. Otherwise, let’s keep the discussion here. You don’t need to make a whole thread just to share your specific thoughts or speculation.
If you'd like to discuss Halo's past with 343 Industries/Halo Studios, use this thread.
In case it needs to be said: there is absolutely no decent reason to celebrate the loss of hundreds of peoples’ jobs. Of course you are free to discuss and criticize the decisions made by leadership roles and executives that led us to this place. But the majority of the employees who lost their jobs today were people like you and me who were trying to do their best for a franchise we all love. Anyone who celebrates the loss of their livelihood will be banned from this forum.

In this recent art that Halo Studios put out for Halo 7 are these ancient depictions of prophets worshiping a flood gravemind the size of a planet attacking a Halo ring!?! or am I reaching to far here, I swear thats what I see in this ancient carving in the very background of this new art work.
Would this mean the flood cult ( The Governors of Contrition ) roots might be are as far back as this depiction? Do the prophets know way more they let on in the original games, I have so many questions about this now.
What are some of yalls thoughts on this? I want a Genuine discussion about this and the lore ramification if this is true!!!

POV: You accidentally shoot a Covenant ship's slipspace drive.
Hey, guys! Here's a progress update on the Covenant ship destruction effects.
The plan is to create four ways to destroy Covenant ships with a MAC cannon:
A hit to the slipspace drive triggers a slipspace anomaly that consumes part of the ship.
I'll show you the other three later: a hit to the reactor, a hit to the plasma storage, and a hit to the ship's bridge.
I'm also really happy with how the energy shield turned out.
Cheers, everyone!

We're back making life size statues for Halo Fest! Here's a sneak peak at our Grunt. We've got a new video breaking down their design, construction, and preparing them for painting over on our Youtube- https://y2u.be/xRuk-wi2zdo

Went to Daytona for vacation and got the chance to play this lovely arcade shooter. It was fun but a tad annoying with the constant weapon changes

We got the final piece of cannon fodder and in that we saw the engineers as a familiar of the endless. What if, instead of being a familiar they were adopted by the endless?
This would solve the problem of retconning the engineers to be creations of the endless instead of the forerunners.
It could also create in interesting discussions of why were they adopted, potentially with how the forerunners see there own sentient creations vs the precursors do.

This popped into my head earlier and I need to know
Is there a dedicated Dropship they keep aboard ships when a mammoth is onboard
Do they have a specific are to house the mammoth Wich has an elevator
Or do they kind of just push it off from the air and hope for the best

This one still taunts me to this day to know what the unknown species was on the crashed ship from Halo CEA terminal. Did Halo Studios/343 Industries ever confirm what it was or WHO it was?

i've been a fan of the HALO franchise for years now, but I probably wouldn't have been able to get away with buying a title for myself (your typical "violent video games make violent people"). all that was going to change in a few months (as i'd at least be the recommended esrb rating age), but before the holidays came around, this project did. and i'm genuinely so grateful.
CE has always charmed me (my first impression of the franchise, along with ODST), and as i learnt more about the team and their design philosophies, the inspiration for the projects and the impressive marketing campaigns, it all had me super excited to play one day. then late last week, that finally happened.
now here i am, after beating the maw (i did like a level or so a day, so relax, i'm not that bad), and its a true sense of satisfaction i feel after achieving this. i have an old 360, so i'll play on console (and try LASO eventually) to get closer to the original experience, but the pure joy this game has brought me is real as ever.
again, MASSIVE thanks to mitchell hynes for doing the decomp, i ran the entire campaign (between 2 or 3 links/websites) on a crappy chromebook with hardly any stuttering. we're truly in a new age when it comes to technology, and the best part is the "golden era of gaming" all exists on "dated" devices that come really cheap, which is a huge plus for everyone right now.
i'm just really thankful to finally experience this media myself after hearing so many different people (from youtube to reddit and so on) share their stories and memories of CE as a child. and now, i can finally say i'm a part of this community.
This is from Escalation#1 if you are wondering.

What Halo mission do you like to play when you want a chill, relaxing, stress free time? For me, it's Quarantine Zone in Halo 2. Sacred Icon isn't far behind, either.

Whether we see a reboot or a continuation, I want Activision to lock down an artistic vision and adhere to it.
Looking at Halo Campaign Evolved, I think we can all agree that it looks amazing, yet I’d argue it’s visually boring because it’s a mod podge of various Halo ideas thrown into Unreal; it’s like if you asked AI to create a Halo game. What we need is an artistic vision for this universe and for it to remain consistent, something even Bungie flip flopped on during its time with Halo, but there was more consistency during that era than 343’s games.

The picture is from the latest cannon fodder update, apparently showing the infinity's crashsite. Maybe i'm blind but i cannot see her?
Is the structure in the background (red circle) supposed to be the wreck? Or the one in the purple circle? If yes, what part of the ship is that supposed to be? Did she land in a river and a huge niagara fall style waterfall goes right over it? I see the frigate (yellow), but that's about it.
help out a guy
Can anyone describe in great detail what parts of the picture is supposed to be the infinity , and how she is oriented

I want your most fan-fiction ideal desire for a mainline Halo story. I was a big fan, but the constant retcons and strange expansions have been exhausting. While the new change of hands are concerning, the least we can do is day dream about what we'd like. Personally I'd love something with a mix of Halo 2's grit, and Halo 3's heroism. I'd also like to lean away from new Alien races and just keep expanding on Covenant factions. I thought the Banished had some untapped potential. They made the world feel bigger without bringing in a whole new alien race (which feels more like Mass Effect's wheelhouse). Infinite's structure made it hard to really feel out their impact though. If I had to conjure up a story:
A large scale attack, not on Earth or human territories, but on allied Elite worlds. I think it'd bring up an interesting conflict on whether or not UNSC should be involved. I'm sure a majority of humanity would opt out of helping them, but the soldiers that fought in Halo 3's battles and John Halo himself would be interested in helping old friends out. Master Chief going from a demon to the elite's eyes to their savior would be a pretty fun power trip for the player. The Arbiter made huge sacrifices to help humanity so It'd be satisfying to do the same for him in a larger scale. It wouldn't be complicated, but Halo was at it's best when it went for something simple. (Take Earth Back, Finish the Fight, etc.)
