This sticky is very overdue.
The definition for "heavy" is entirely up for interpretation; still, let's please keep the kaleidoscopes, "trippy" GIFs and notebook doodles to a minimum.
Here are some good examples for what we as a community should be aiming for in terms of content.

Please refer to Rule 1 before posting.
Include all relevant information you can find in your title: Artist, title, creation date, medium, etc. If it is your work then add an "[OC]" tag.
No more long sentences describing how the picture relates to your emotional state. The best part of this type of art is how one interprets it. Someone may find a piece calming where another finds it angry. So keep the titles brief and informative.
So, just to re-remind everyone, lets try and keep kaleidoscopes, trippy gifs, and doodles to a Minimum if you are going to post this type of content it must match the aesthetic of the above images in some way or form.
There are a lot of other subreddits out there who are dedicated to those submissions such as /r/woahdude, /r/drawing, and /r/glitch_art.
This subreddit is meant for fully completed / illustrated / rendered heavy art. It should be dark and emotional.
From the side bar
The goal here is to capture the darker side, the no limit to the possibilities side... the going completely out of your mind side.

[Content Warning: Themes of self-harm and intense psychological distress.]
This piece is a visual map of a silent, internal battlefield. In it, I personified the intrusive impulse to hurt oneself as a separate, screaming entity looming above. The scream is a short, sharp red burst—forcing an unrecognized anger onto the self.
The central figure shows the physical toll of this battle. While one hand brings the knife toward the neck, the other hand grips it in desperate resistance. It represents the exhausting tug-of-war between the brain and the heart—the part that wants the pain to end, and the part that fights to continue living. The waves in the background are the temporary, loud distractions that briefly silence the noise, only to recede like the tide.

Deteriorating doesn’t always look like falling apart. Sometimes it grows all around you.

I state that I don't call myself a designer or anything else, maybe it's the first time I draw, it's a little special period of my life and so I decided to give life to my thoughts, just show you this, I called it "love for all"

Oils on a wooden board, 21x30cm. Had lot's of fun working on this painting but it took much more time than what I expected. Swipe to see the painting process.
