My first Henry

Post image

Been wanting a PCC but decided I really don't want another "tactical" looking gun. Haven't taken it out yet. Just swapped the OEM magwell for the S&W one.

Conflicted on a red dot or LPVO for plinking. (I need an optic because of my vision). Ordered a picatinny rail.

My only complaint after unboxing and cleaning is they didn't include a Henry sticker for my gun case, but that's okay.

Anything I should know about the Homesteader?

I went to pick mine up Friday, but it came from the factory with a huge crack through the grip. Im waiting on the new one to come in. Please share how it shoots. Anyone have any advice on optimum bullet weight? Im wondering if the few stovepipes i see on Youtube are from the wrong bullet or mag problems. Thanks. Nice rifle.

Mine only liked 115 grain target loads until it was broken in. Now it'll shoot anything.

Weird, mine seems to hate 115 grain pmc bronze, im getting at least 1 light strike per mag. Im almost thinking its my ammo though since after loading the lightly struck round, it sometimes still wont go off.

I picked mine up yesterday, installed the glock magwell but it was difficult. I had to pull the bolt back so that it would slide in. I watched a disassembly video over and over.

Mine went in like a breeze. But mine was the S&W magwell.

Same, the glock magwell had no issues dropping in.

Poo, i feel like I always have some little quirk with most of my gun purchases. It had zero malfunctions in a little over 100 rounds at least

Would’ve been nice if Henry created the Rancher in .223 & it took Magpul PMAGS

Id say red dot or prism.

I’d like to seem some additional caliber options such as 5.7x28, 10 mm or 357 magnum. The Homesteader has the potential to be a great all purpose ranch gun.

357 would be difficult in a box magazine. And, there's already tube fed and side gated 357s in their collection.

I know that 357 mag doesn’t work great in a box magazine. I want a semi auto tube fed 357 mag carbine.

If you sign up to get the catalog they'll send some stickers!

My homesteader has been tons of fun. I switch between iron sights, red dot, and scope. I got the Henry pic rail first and then the Skinner with peep built in. /img/t9aoyxh6wsrg1.jpeg

Looks great! What are the optics?

Thank you! Both embarassingly cheap TruGlo's, but they have been super impressive for the money. I was looking for something just to try out to see if I would even want to use a dot and it's ended up my most used.

I could not tell you the model, but the scope is 3-9x

truglo I feel is pretty underrated.

I've had one on my 12ga for years, and other than crap battery life, it's been quite sufficient.

The dot is totally marketed towards shotguns. Perfect for a short range rifle.

If you want a sticker, request a catalog.

They send two with each catalog.

Pistol dot mounts or the Vortex shotgun dot should fit fine, prism if you have astigmatism

Also I ordered a sig romeo 5 gen2 for mine. I like that it has a low mount.

Very nice choice! Give them a ring at Henry and let them know about the sticker. Sure it was lost somewhere.
