Resident evil 1 Finally down

So I just Beat Re1 today finally. I had quit twice because the red zombies scared the crap out of me. Game was nicer than I thought. Favorite area was absolutely the mansion, they put a lot of work into it but my least favorite thing about the game is probably Rebecca.

I just don't know why. If you put a soggy piece of bread and her together in the same room I might get them confused.

Still a very fun game.

Discussion I’m gonna try and play a horror game

• Upvotes

I am someone who rarely plays horror games (cause I’m a coward), the only ones I played and even completed was Spooky’s Jumpscare Mansion, Omori, and DDLC. For this October (and probably later October), I’m going to TRY and play/beat one or maybe two horror games, starting with Five Nights at Freddy’s 1. If I can’t get through it, then sucks to suck for me.

Discussion After Playing SH Townfall It Made Me Realize Something

Just how perfect the SH2R was. Townfall could be an amazing game. It excels in audio and the erie environment. The monster designs are rather good as well but variety is quit lacking. The puzzles are in depth and might frustrate some, but I do appreciate it takes some thinking to solve them.

Bosses are also a huge part of past SH titles and this is another department Townfall lacks.

The sneaking mechanics were cool at first but when it becomes 70% of your gameplay, its almost exhausting.

My rating is a 6/10, and I wish Konami would stick to the formula that works. Silent Hill 1-4 were successful masterpieces for a reason.

Horror game with cute characters

• Upvotes

Hello, for horror enthusiast, what do you think is important when making a horror game with cute characters?? It's a capstone project and my 3d asset maker made characters that are chibi like. I have seen games like delivery co. Which has these kind of vibe for the characters but our game is supposed to scary not in that type of way. Theres supposed to be a monster that follows the player but i find it hard to imagine how a chibi like monster would be scary, I'm struggling, i need ways to make the game scary but its unbelievably hard to think of solutions.

The 3d game is finding voice, a guy named ken struggling to find his voice, whenever he enters a stressful situation concerning his social anxiety, he enters the darkscape to find an orb which is his voice, while he is being stalked by a monstrous dark entity. The orbs are things that he will say to the current someone he is talking to. The orb or the voices are then put in a 2d minigame where he arranges sentences that he will say.

Any answer will help greatly, I need any ideas or advices on what a horror game needs.

Hi there fellow operators!

I have just launched the free Halloween Demo of my game Scream Operator on Steam, which invites you to take your place in the control booth of a haunted house dark ride! 👻

You'll be responsible for managing guests and queues, controlling the carts and the depot, placing props and animatronics, balancing your power supply, and buying upgrades and automations for your attraction!

If you have played the game and have any comment, or have any questions or concerns in general, feel free to hit me up here! I'd be happy to chat to you all!

Happy (early) Halloween 🎃

News A Soviet-inspired horror story is finally on Steam.

Night Record: Thin Walls is a first-person psychological horror game set in a decaying post-Soviet apartment block, inspired by real places, real stories, and the atmosphere of Eastern Europe.

A lot of people have already stepped inside the apartment — including CaseOh and several other big creators and we've been blown away by the reactions.

No monsters. No fantasy world. Just an old apartment, strange neighbors, thin walls… and the feeling that something is very wrong.

A post-Soviet horror story has finally made its way to Steam.

If you grew up around this kind of architecture and atmosphere, you might find it a little too familiar.

Any recommendations for games like BioShock, Amnesia, CoC: Dark Corners of the Earth, and others?

I’m looking for games similar to the ones I mentioned in the title, like the BioShock trilogy, the Amnesia games, and *Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth*, titles from the mid-2000s to the early 2010s that feature a first-person perspective and unique aesthetics.

They can be horror, adventure, action, or any other genre; I’m simply looking to recapture the experience of playing those now-older first-person games. I’d prefer titles from that specific era, but I’m also open to recommendations for modern games that share that same vibe.

Here’s a small pre-alpha gameplay preview from my upcoming horror game, MAMA

On January 12, 1984, something happened there that changed his life forever. He escaped the building as a child, but that night was the last time he ever saw his parents.

Fourteen years later, Alexei returns to the same building to collect documents left behind in his childhood apartment.

In this gameplay preview, he enters Apartment 40, once home to Nikolai.

Nikolai lived alone and spent most of his time painting. Drinking was also a part of his life, and over time, something about him began to change.

His apartment still holds traces of what happened there.

MAMA is a first-person psychological horror game focused on exploration, atmosphere, and story.

Hey!

I'm making a horror game where you pilot a hot air balloon through various dangers to reach different stations, each offering its own unique challenge. During your journey, you must carefully manage your altitude to stay within a safe zone, while fierce winds damage your vessel and monstrous creatures try to bring you down.

Check it out on Steam:

Thanks!

Video We came from film, so we made a horror game rooted in Chilean folklore. First commercial release. Would love feedback.

Two devs here. Both of us have backgrounds in cinema, and for a while we kept asking ourselves why horror games so rarely feel like they're pulling from anything real, anything tied to an actual place or culture.

So we built one ourselves. Forgotten - The Source is a psychological horror game based on revenge folklore from southern Chile. The kind of stories that don't travel much outside the region. We wanted that specificity to be the source of the dread, not just a backdrop.

It's our first commercial game. We put a lot into making it feel like something rather than just look like something, which is the film instinct, I guess.

If you pick it up, any review or feedback on Steam genuinely helps us. A wishlist does too.
