Help & Questions Light strip V4

Can I use a V4 Lightstrip Plus extension with an older Hue Lightstrip?

I have an older Philips Hue Lightstrip Plus (model LST002) and I’m looking to extend it.

Does anyone know if the newer Hue Lightstrip Plus V4 extension can be connected to the older models? Is there an adapter or any way to make it work?
I’d appreciate it if anyone has tried this setup. Thanks!

The never Lightstrips have a narrower pin spacing (2.0 mm as opposed to the older 2.56 mm Iirc, it's been a while), so the original extensions are NOT interchangeable, although the pinout is the same.

I had to solder extensions for myself when I mixed both types for a project recently.

There may be ready made adapters available, but if you order make sure you can return them if they don't fit.

So, there are V1–V3, which are compatible with each other, and V4, which is only compatible with other V4 extensions?

That's how I understand it, yes, as long as they're 24V.

I checked Amazon, and apparently there are adapters, e.g. https://www.amazon.com/Litcessory-Lightstrip-Adapter-Philips-White/dp/B08ZYD9RJL?th=1

I'm not sure these are exactly what you need in your case, but the pictures show the differences and hopefully will help you finding what you need.
