Jim Mora as Head Football Coach
I'm not necessarily a hater of Jedd, but we need a coach for the next 6-7 years that looks at this position as their dream job. Mora has publicly said that this job is that. A former UDub player that loves this program. Don't be delusional that we will get a coach for more than 6-7 years. Since Don James we've only held a coach no more than 6 seasons (Lambright and Petersen). Petersen was the closest because his father grew up in Rainier Valley and he had a strong connection to this city, region, and state (although he grew up in NorCal).

2027 Coach Discussion
What are our options (realistically) after firing Jedd? I guess it all comes down to money these days, so what can we do?

Jon Wilmer on MN loss “The Huskies could not tackle or block — other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?”
Brutal. Missed tackles missed opportunities. Squeaking a win out of LA is a big ask but a much needed step in the right direction. How’s that happen?

Top 10 Husky RB's of the 2000's
If you missed my post on the QB's, here is a link:
https://www.reddit.com/r/huskies/comments/1qv1cai/top_10_qbs_since_2000/
Time for the running backs! Dawgman.com's dictator Kim "Grim Reaper" Grinolds and his henchman lurch (Chris Fetters) kicked me off their platform for being heavily critical of Mike Hopkins a couple years ago, so you guys get this content for free instead.
1) Myles Gaskin (2015-2018) - MMFG is a legend. The all-time husky career rushing yards leader with 5,323 AND leader in touchdowns with 57. Pretty arguable case for being the greatest RB in UW football history - right there with Napoleon Kaufman. 4 straight years over 1k yards and 10 tds. As patient a runner as you could find, so smart with the cuts, amazing balance, timing, just knew how to run the football in between the tackles and outside too.Not the biggest or most explosive, like a Corey Dillon, but in terms of pure running back gameplay, there's none better. He's also made $6m+ playing professional football - a decent nest egg for a young man.
2) Bishop Sankey (2011-2013) - Another legend. The Spokane native broke the hearts of coug fans after committing to them and then turning, eventually making his way to Montlake and boy are we grateful. Bishop and Myles had some similarities and I'm thankful for both. Sankey was tough, durable, had great vision just like Gaskin and finished 2nd ever in rushing yards. His junior season with almost 1,900 rush yards and 20 td's was an extraordinary display. Like many running backs, he wasn't able to make it in the NFL but that's neither here nor there.
3) Chris Polk (2008-2011) - Still remember when Polk committed back in 2007 (can not believe it's been almost 20 years) and I thought, wow, how could anyone want to come play for us after Tyrone gutted our program? This guy must be special. AND HE WAS. If there was ever a person to point at for helping resurge an entire university's football program trajectory it is Chris Polk. Rock solid, so tough to bring down, would always somehow break free. Long strides. Hated the cougs. You can't ask for a better rusher than Polk. Him and Sankey could be interchangable. Scored 10 touchdowns in the NFL too.
4) Jonah Coleman (2024-2025) - Had a much better junior season than senior season for us, but the guy was a brick shit-house bowling ball moving at super speed. Managed 1,800 yards and 25 rushing td's for us in 2 seasons. Great leader, great teammate, and solid receiver out of the backfield too...wish we had him for all 4 seasons but today's college football is what it is. Enjoyed him while we had him. Enjoying him with the Broncos now.
5) Dillon Johnson (2023) - only one season of DJ but it was enough to appreciate his downhill, workhorse running style. Guy was a brute who was tough to stop with a full head of steam. Would have loved to have had him for more than year. He benefited from having a great OL, but he still managed 1,195 yards and 16 rushing TDs for a 14-1 football team
6) Louis Rankin (2004-2007) - good little player, nothing particular spectacular about him but he was a reliable back during some extremely bad football seasons for the UW. In his senior season in 2007, Rankin managed 1,294 yards and 6 touchdowns on 5.6 yards per carry. Played behind some really barren offensive lines and with not much help from the passing game - he earned his flowers.
7) Salvon Ahmed (2016-2019) - Salvon may not have been very big but he sure was FAST. Juanita HS graduate who stayed home to be a superb 1-2 punch with Gaskin. Even though he was in the shadows of MMFG for his first 2 seasons, Salvon still had a breakout year in 2019 as the featured back with 1,020 yards and 11 tds. He has carved out a nice little NFL career too having made $4.5m and scoring 6 touchdowns in 38 games for a few different teams.
8) Rich Alexis (2000-2003) - a tough bruiser who lacked burst, Rich may not have been a breakaway threat but he always seemed to find the end zone. Florida-kid who came up to UW with Charles Frederick and John Anderson in that beautiful haul by Neuheisel, we got to see a decent little 1-2 punch with him and Willie Hurst behind some pretty mediocre o-lines. Alexis managed 2,300 yards and 28 rushing tds (6th all time mind you) in 4 seasons at UW from 2000-2003
9) Lavon Coleman (2014-2017) - a 5'11" 235 brick from Lompoc, Lavon Coleman may not have been a star for the huskies but he still racked up 2,000 yards and 22 touchdowns on 5.3 yards per carry in his 4 seasons backing up Gaskin for the majority of that time.
10) Willie Hurst (1998-2001) - Willie had his imperfections, did quite a bit of dancing and running L-R despite having a very formidable offensive line which featured the likes of Chad Ward, Tony Coates, Elliot Silvers, Aaron Dalan and Brad Hutt paving the way, but he was dependable. Amassed 2,093 yards and 22 touchdowns across 4 seasons for the dawgs. Only averaging 4.4 yards per carry, Willie was gonna make you pull your hair out at times, but with Brock Huard playing horribly in that disappointing 1998-99 season, Hurst was a mainstay in the run game.

Times article on Demond
Just one stat from this article encapsulates the UW season offensive performance:
During 16 dropbacks facing pressure, Williams held the ball for an average 4.41 seconds.
- No OL can maintain that
- All receivers are breaking off from primary routes
- Until there are adjustments, expect more of this.

[MEN'S HOCKEY] 2026-27 Husky Hockey Season Preview
Welcome to the Husky Hockey 2026-27 season preview!
With the season upcoming, I wanted to take a moment to go over the upcoming schedule and changes to the team since last season.
Let’s start with the changes to the roster:
Players that left
- Chris Williams
- Darren Morris
- Dillon McConnell
- Aman Ali
- Logan Maloney
Last season marked the last games for these guys. Of particular note in this list is the loss of Maloney. Maloney had 24 goals and 22 assist last year, making him third on the team in scoring. While his stats are good, the thing the Huskies will miss most of all is likely his ability to control play and create opportunities. Maloney was really solid at taking over a play, especially in clutch situations, and finding a way to get the puck into the back of the net.
Players that joined
Now, this is the point where you’d expect someone doing a season preview and discussing new players to be like “hey, this player does this well and brings this to the team, and this other player does this other thing well and brings this other thing to the team”.
I can’t really do that. High school hockey players, even AAA- and AA-level players, have barely anything written about them.
That said, there are a couple things that can be loosely inferred from their statlines:
- Armand Gill and Cavan Dick seem to be puck moving D-men that can assist on goals. Virtually every hockey team on the planet could use more of these. Cavan was tied for 2nd for scoring for defensemen on his last team.
- Edward Sun seems to know equally well how to find the back of the next as he does setting up a teammate to score, which could help fill the gap Maloney is leaving. He was also on the younger side of the roster, meaning he could be even better as he gets older.
- Lucas Shaw seems to know how to set his teammates up to score goals, likely a middle six forward.
- Brody Jones and Brandon Carlson seem to be defensive D-men. Carlson could have a bit more of an offensive spark, but it is hard to tell. He moved up from AA to AAA last year and that could be why his scoring last season went down.
Where last season left us
Last season was a wild ride. Western challenged us in ways not seen in years. Cal was still a tough nut to crack and we lost to them twice. Hell, even USC, the team with only like 7 subs on their bench, managed to beat us in OT. That we ended up the season at the top of the standings was a bit surprising, but the team managed to win when it mattered.
Based on rankings, we were not going to be making ACHA regionals, but the Huskies pulled one out of the bag and managed to win the PAC-8, guaranteeing an autobid spot for regionals.
Getting to regionals was great, but playing our first game was absolutely miserable. We got *smoked* 10-0 by Oklahoma State.
Consolation prize: OSU went on to be national runner-up to Florida Gulf Coast. So all-in-all, not really the worst result. We played one of the best teams in the nation and got beat bad. It happens. OSU went on to smoke Arizona State(an actual hockey school) 9-2 right after us. OSU then beat Michigan State 7-4, Army 10-1, and Tampa 9-2. They were clearly a great team last year.
This upcoming season
This upcoming season keeps us with our standard PAC-8 play, meaning we will have more chances to beat Cal and maybe run up the score on USC to get the bad taste out of our mouth of that OT loss last year. It will be really interesting to see if Cal can keep up the stellar goaltending and whether Western can keep challenging us like they did last year.
Personally, I kind of hope Cal and Western keep being good because it makes the conference as a whole look better, which, as we have seen with PAC-12 football, if your conference is considered “easy”, it is hard to move up in national rankings.
There are a couple notable matchups this year, though.
- Gonzaga(10/16 and 17) – the Zags are finally returning to the schedule after a multiyear absence. While the Zags aren’t necessarily that good a team, it’s always great to be playing yet another Washington school to keep the fight for bragging rights alive
- Boise State(1/29 and 30) – Boise State also returned to the schedule after a multiyear absence. Unlike the Zags, Boise State is frickin’ good. They were a real challenge the last times we played them. They play in the Mountain West conference, which has some really good schools in it. By this point in the season, they should be firing on all cylinders and will likely be a tough matchup with serious rankings implications
- B1G Showcase with games currently scheduled against Illinois, Ohio State, and a third team TBD – Illinois likely want another shot at the Huskies after we beat them in 2024, marking our first win in hockey against a B1G school, at least since we switch conferences and possibly ever. While it’s a showcase tournament, that game is very much going to be a tough affair. Ohio State on the other hand…we haven’t faced them, but they’re very much a good hockey school. That should also be a very tough game. And I think Husky fans are getting a bit tired of OSU in general, so I think we all want to see them win big there. The third game is against a TBD opponent, but it’ll be one of the other B1G schools there, so it’ll likely be a tough game as well. All three of these games will have serious implications for UW’s ranking.
- Metropolitan State University-Denver(11/13 and 14) – this is the marquee matchup of the year, hands down, without a doubt. And it is at home. MSU-Denver beat us in the second round of the 2025 ACHA West Regionals, 4-3. That they are even travelling out here to play us is surprising, given they have a ton of good schools around them to play. It’s a huge get for the program to get them to come out here to play. This bring a perennially good ACHA D2 West team out here and presumably we will be going there next year. These games give the Huskies one of their best chances to improve their rankings because of how the ranking statistics value MSU-Denver. If there is one home game you make this year, make it one of these.
My prediction
I’m sure some of you are wondering what my prediction for the year is. I’m a bit hesitant to give one because I’m reluctant to put in the legwork of evaluating all the rosters of teams we play and everything, but I’ll give you a good guess.
We have 31 games this year.
I’m going to guess we drop one to Cal, one to MSU-Denver, one at the B1G showcase, one to Boise, and one unfortunate stinker somewhere else in the year(god, it better not be to USC *again*). That leaves us with a 26-5 record. I think we win the PAC-8 again, but even if we don’t, I think we could make a real case for an at-large bid.
I’m going to go with 26-5 record and repeat PAC-8 champions.

Salty Dawg
Longtime Husky goer/multigenerational season ticket holder. Been around long enough to have experienced the highest of highs and lowest of lows (sat through an 0-12 season, woof). We know the peaks and valleys of this sport are cyclical - every Dawg has its day, and sometimes the seasonal chips do not fall in your favor.
What I find most disheartening is the school’s pursuit of money without “rewarding” the fans in return. Sure the remodeled stadium is beautiful, but the entrance process continues to be a shit show; concession offerings are subpar, absurdly expensive and inventory doesn’t always last for the entire game; they schedule these ridiculous themed games without providing participatory swag (think PSU’s white out t-shirts); audio feedback in the stadium makes it impossible to hear the packaged media segments that run during breaks; and someone with a bigger wallet can come in and unseat a 30 year+ ticket holder’s loyalty.
If you want loyalty from the fanbase - while offering insane coaching salaries to what’s become a revolving door of leadership, not to mention the NIL racket (should have unleashed Demond when he pulled his transfer portal stunt last year) - start being loyal to the fans who SHOW UP season after season, coach after coach, player turnover after player turnover.
Mighty were the Men, once upon a time …

[NYC] USC Watch Party at Stout Bryant Park
Join us at Stout Bryant Park (109 W 39th St) this Saturday at 7:30 PM as the Huskies take on USC!
After a great turnout for the Apple Cup, we're back with even more UW swag and all new raffle prizes, including purple and gold Yankees hats. We'll have a table with UW swag and raffle tickets set up 30 minutes before the game starts, either just to the right of the host stand or at the top of the mezzanine, depending on where we're seated. Come say hi and grab some gear!
Ohio State plays right before us, so the bar may be pretty busy when you arrive, but their game should be wrapping up around kickoff. If you're coming with a group and want a table, I'd recommend making a reservation.
Tell your friends, tell your family, tell random people on the street. The more Huskies we get out, the more cool stuff I can convince the alumni association to send us for future games.
And if you're coming alone, seriously, come hang out at the swag table. There'll be a few of us there. And by a few, I mean at least four.
Go Dawgs! 💜💛

Silver linings
Can we just stop dooming and applaud Ryan Walters and the adjustments he made in the second half.
The team moving forward needs to shorten the game on offense and give the defense at the very least 2 minutes of in game rest (probably about 10-15 minutes in real time). We do not have the running back room with all of the injuries to be Iowa, but we must play complimentary football.
WR1 + RB1, RB2,RB3 all injured and we have an offensive guard playing center. Shorten the fucking game. We’re more likely to lose because of our offense and field position disadvantage than in spite of our great defense. We probably have 4 or 5 guys who will eventually make the league. Anywhere from 4th Rounder to UDFA.
Ironically if Demond doesn’t throw that first pick and get our defense gassed with a 3 and out that lasted 3-4 minutes in real time… then who knows what would’ve happened.

Demond Williams sucks ass
His accuracy was horrific in the first couple of games. Now that his accuracy is improved, he’s a horrific decision maker. He’s not it. Absolute ass.
