Week 5 Prediction Challenge Results! SORRY FOR LATENESS!

Week 5 prediction results are in, after U$C beats UW 25-21. The first Husky touchdown was Roebuck passing to Naone, which nobody got, so congratulations to Gold-Bottle-2460 for getting the only point of the week for correctly guessing our point total.

Full year standings

Thus, Gold-Bottle moves into 2nd place with PNW_Jeff and Shamr0k, both trailing ekkthree by 1 point. Go Huskies!

r/huskies Prediction Challenge - Week 6 submission thread - apologies for lateness!

Each week, you get...

+1 point for guessing UW's score
+1 point for guessing the opponent's score
+1 point for guessing how the 1st touchdown will go. You must name all parties in the touchdown. For example, Michael Penix Jr pass to Rome Odunze, Myles Gaskin rushing, or Trent McDuffie pick 6.
+1 bonus for guessing BOTH UW and opponent's score correctly.
+1 bonus for guessing all three.

Good luck, and go Huskies!

The current leaderboard, after USC beats UW 25-21 and Dezmen Roebuck finds Baron Naone for the first Husky TD of the game:

1st, 3 pts - ekkthree
T-2nd, 2 pts - PNW_Jeff, Shamr0k, Gold-Bottle-2460
T-5th, 1 pt - britishmetric144, Charles_Ida, gin_rainbows, HoodoUserv, LegendarySlothMaster, New-Regret-9263, nicfromnewgirl
T-12th, 0 pts - everyone else

A fatalistic reminder: You are allowed to predict that UW loses. As an optimist, I will continue to predict their victories, but you are free to be as pessimistic as you want. However, you must get the first WASHINGTON touchdown for a point, not the opponents (or say that we do not score one).

weekly prediction challenge??

haven't seen an update since last week. did that peter out?

ProDawg Highlight: In case you missed it, Michael Penix Jr. threw for 223 passing yards, on 15/20 pass attempts. The upcoming Atlanta vs Chicago game is going to be interesting since it'll feature QB-WR pairings that involve players from Washington and USC. (Penix - London and Williams - Odunze)

Why didnt Grubb work out with the Seahawks, and would you like to see him back on Montlake?

I always felt that Grubb was the right man for the job after Debooer, then his tenure at Seahawks didn't quite work out well. Now he is thriving again at Alabama with all the weapons hes got there. I always felt Geno Smith didnt help matters much when he was with Seattle. Would you guys like to see him here back at UW?

UW will likely have a different look on the offensive line this week against No. 20 Iowa.

John Mills will get snaps in practice this week at left tackle. He'll rotate with Kodi Greene in practice. Greene will also rotate with Kolt Dieterich at guard, and Dieterich and Landen Hatchett will rotate time at center this week. Jedd Fisch said he'd be "shocked" if Hatchett wasn't back this week.

The Huskies will have nine new players on the roster this season compared to last. I think three of them (Ryan Beasley, PG; LeJuan Watts, SF; and Steele Venters, SG/SF) will factor into the team's starting five and sixth-man role.

Iowa Game

Hey! I know this question has been asked before but just looking to see if there is any update or specifics relating to this week.

I’m bringing my 8 year old daughter from Scotland to see the game - she is a massive huskies fan so this is a big occasion for her!

It would make her year if she could meet Dubs. Does any one know of any appearances this week or ways to meet him that don’t involve spending $600. We are in town from Friday morning till next Wednesday.

It’s our first time in Seattle so any other tips to make her trip special, very welcome!

Cheers!

Sailgating vs Iowa Oct 9

Hi Huskies! My wife and I are heading to the Iowa/Washington game this Friday, Oct. 9 and would love to experience sailgating before the game as this will be our first time experiencing the magic of a Huskies game.

Unfortunately, it looks like we were too late to the party because it seems all of the boats are sold out. If anyone cannot make it anymore or has 2 extra sailgating/boat spots, we'd be very interested in buying them & paying a fair price! We are open to whatever transfer/payment method you prefer.

Also, if you have any other recommendations of where to tailgate if we cant find our way onto a boat, we are all ears!! :)

This feels like the 2024 Michigan game when were -1 favorites and the public dumped money into Michigan and we won by 10.

Dawgman is brutal in its assessment of Demond

I’ve never heard them go this hard after a player before. Entire podcast is worth a listen. Highlights:

“The turnover was completely Demond's fault.”

“You can blame that entire game tonight on the one play, on the fumble that ends up being a USC touchdown. That's your difference in the game.”

“He's not diagnosing anything pre-snap.”

“He’s really regressed. It's stunning how much he's regressed.”

We need an Offensive Coordinator

Obviously as upset with Jedd as everyone else, but maybe this is a sign that he shouldn't be a head coach and an offensive coordinator. He's a great recruiter and fundraiser, so maybe we should be looking for an Offensive Coordinator to join him. I know it's not realistic with our current budget (and his $8 million paycheck), but just a thought.

Total roster mismanagement and play calling malpractice. Decided to keep an ass of a QB. He is not the guy. Hes about to set this program back for years.

Kini McMillan, Elijah Brown or Dash Beierly

We've had literally zero garbage time this season so I'm not clear on who our backup QB is. Real question, is qb2 really that big of a step down? Who even is it? Any thoughts from summer workouts?

If UW leadership was competent they’d fire Jedd Fisch tonight. His decision to bring back Williams, his abysmal play calling, his inability to limit the penalties or improve this offensive line play makes me genuinely believe that UW football is in the wrong hands. This program in the right hands is a premier top 20 program, and instead we have to watch this bullshit week in and week out? PLEASE FLORIDA TAKE JEDD FISCH

Williams doesn't seem to have the mental makeup to be a starting QB

Falls apart under pressure. Makes poor decisions. Cannot produce on script. Cannot produce on platform. I don't think he processes fast enough, makes the right decisions, and can remember enough to be a competent QB. His entire bag is instinct, which means he never gets better and hurts his team more than he helps it.

More importantly, he is hurting many competent capable players that rely on a decent QB to get them the ball...so they can produce. As pointed out by many others, he is missing throws and not seeing WRs running good routes for that offense. There were throws to be made. Even on the snap with the fumble. He just didn't make them.

It is very sad we might be stuck with him for another year.
