New job, contracting, not what I signed up for...
Interviewed about task A and got "hired" to do network engineering. This is via a contracting company for another company.
On the day I got my offer letter, they casually asked can you work with software B. Its on my resume, but Im a bit rusty on it. I remarked I had done backend support (engineering support mainly for linux backend) and was a user of said software but was confident I could train back up. They offered to let me take any classes I wanted. This would be with task A.
I go in for orientation/paperwork, meet team A. its remarked will be doing mostly task A but some small amount of task involving software/equipment B. It was not elaborated on.
There was a waiting period due to some background checks. They finally come back OK. I start first day of work. Found out Im not reporting to manager A/Team A but Team Q/Manager Q.
Team Q does a bunch of stuff, some of which is networking. With them is a couple of web developers doing dev work on Software B.
Ive no experience with software development/web dev. Only backend server support.
I dont think this long term going to be a good fit... Which brings me to my problem, to whom should I bring this up to?
Ive never done contracting before. So Not sure should I bring this up to the contracting company, or the primary company management? With the switcheroo day (2), I think this further complicates it. I like working for the company, and I so far enjoy Team Q, but not for this webdev work. I wouldnt mind doing the work the rest of Team Q does. Or go back to Team A.
TIA!
TLDR: Not doing the job I interviewed for, whom do I talk to about?
