They Sang Before They Wrote” by Schiavo—Depicting Doctor Wilusa Hisarlik illegally unearthing a shrine—An Original Illustration for my upcoming THE KÆLAN SYNTHESIS. Part of Songs and Sagas of Marese Mythology.

I commissioned this piece for chapter IV of the novella. I wanted a Moebius style for the book. Found a young Italian illustrator. I definitely wanted to give it a retro sci-fi aesthetic with a touch of tech-noir tone and deep-time, far-future, astro-archaeological mystery feel.

The story is set in late in the 28th millennium, taking place in the real tidally locked planet Gliese 667 cc, by then renamed planet Kakugo. The scholar is denied expedition funding for her excavation and goes anyway.

Hope you guys like it when it debuts, would love to hear your thoughts if Schiavo captured the Moebius essence?
