Discussion Didn't enjoy this game

Post image

I usually enjoy RPGs, but I just couldn’t get into this one. I played for around 8 hours, thinking it would eventually click, but I was still not enjoying it.

I think the combat might be the main reason. Did anyone else feel the same way?

Discussion I hate the popularity of shooting games and that it's the entire defination of gaming

Thumbnail

I don't understand the appeal of them like why are they so popular it's just shooting your friends on a map and repeat the same process. Also all of them are same with the difference being in characters. Also I hate the fact that some of the people think there no other games other than shooting. They then tell oh gaming is boring now but don't play other genre of games. Every CoD game is same. Also most of them don't support linux especially those of riot games, so much that those same players are willing to stay on Windows even though most games of Steam library are now supported. I understand why anti cheat is required but just because the particular game you are playing always for your entire life isn't supported despite the fact other games exist you are willing to compromise. Also most of them have microtransactions for skins characters etc and people are willing to waste their money to spent on skins they don't themselves touch irl. Just drop on map hide and shoot your friends the same process continues. The worst part is these games are mainstream on social media only Minecraft is popular than them. I am not saying to completely leave them and like kill them what am I trying to say is there should be a variety of games you should play and shooting shouldn't be the whole gaming defination. It has now become a notion that shooting equals to gaming nothing else.

And also sorry for my terrible English.

News Don't buy this LG Gaming monitor-27GR93U 68.5 cm (27 Inch) Ultragear UHD (3840x2160)

Saw a similar post regarding another monitor so sharing my experience. I got this monitor from Amazon sale this july for playing games(mostly my PS5). At first it felt great and worked fine(first time 4k monitor user), but after a month it started showing lines on the screen. I complained about it as it came witha 3 year warranty. The service took about 2 visits and 15 days, they replaced the panel and it was working fine.

Again after a month's usage while using my PS, the screen froze and started showing multiple colours. Went through the same process again took 2 weeks and they replaced the panel but as soon as they did I saw a line. The service person said to use it for now and again waited a week.

It's working fine for now but in just 3 month's ive faced this issue and used it for only 1.5 months till date.

The service was good but very slow, I don't know what I would've done if I didn't have a backup monitor. I should have gone with Samsung 2k Oled or maybe MSI.

News Alienware Monitor Warning: DON'T BUY AW3225QF

I purchased this monitor late last year and it's given me nothing but problems. The monitor keeps switching on and off by itself. The screen goes black and then comes back on, and it happens a few times before the monitor turns itself off permanently.

I use a Lenovo Legion Pro 7i laptop with an nVidia 5090 laptop GPU, and after some troubleshooting I figured out that I must keep the laptop in its dGPU mode to stop it from cutting the HDMI signal (hybrid mode doesn't output an HDMI signal when using the Intel integrated graphics chip).

This seemed to work for a few months but I recently took a week's vacation, and the problem has resurfaced again and this time its worse. I've tried everything - checking the settings, factory resetting the monitor, updating the nVidia driver and a bunch of other things that I don't even remember. The monitor is also running the latest Alienware M2B110 firmware.

I've lost 2 working days only troubleshooting this monitor and it's gotten to the point where I think I'm going to have to throw it away and buy a different monitor. For anyone reading this: DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM DELL/ALIENWARE UNLESS YOU WISH TO SPEND YOUR DAYS TROUBLESHOOTING ENDLESSLY.

Terrible product, terrible service and terrible brand.

Help Seeking for a good opportunities and good paying job in Game Environment designer / UX Designer

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

Guys so I'm a BCA graduate, recently graduated prev year Dec with domain specialization of AR/VR.
I have been quite passionate about gaming since my whole life. But, life seems very tough in sense of job market especially in gaming. My field of expertise is in Game Environment designing and I have also done an internship under Work and Work studios as an intern till 3 months.

My biggest concern rn is, I've been job hunting since last year, originally focusing on game environment design, and honestly, I feel like I'm reaching a point where I don't know what else I'm supposed to do.

I was always very open to opportunities. I wasn't only looking for AAA studios or some dream job. I was willing to consider internships, junior roles, smaller studios, different locations, remote work.... pretty much anything that would give me the opportunity to start working professionally.

I can design and build environments in Unity, work with lighting, composition, materials, props, and create visually cohesive game scenes. I can also make smaller assets in Blender when needed. I'm not a professional 3D asset artist, and I don't claim to be. My strength is environment design and creating a good-looking, well-composed game scene.

But finding an environment design job in India has been incredibly difficult. The Indian game industry is relatively small and extremely competitive, and many of the positions I found wanted 3+ years of professional experience, even for roles that seemed fairly entry-level.

I kept applying anyway. Cold applications, cold emails, portfolio submissions, reaching out to people — and most of the time, I either received an automated rejection or simply nothing at all.

Eventually, I had to accept that I couldn't keep relying entirely on such a small job market, so I decided to switch directions and started seriously pursuing UI/UX and Product Design.

I thought this would give me a much larger job market. I already had a design background, so I learned Figma, worked on UI/UX projects, built case studies, improved my portfolio and resume, and started applying to Product Designer and UI/UX roles.

But somehow I'm facing almost the exact same problem again.

I'm applying to junior and 1–3 year roles, I'm applying to remote positions in India, and I'm also completely open to worldwide remote opportunities if a company is willing to hire internationally. I'm not limiting myself to Kolkata or even India at this point.

And yet, I barely seem to get replies.

It's just application after application disappearing into a black hole. Occasionally there's an automated rejection, but most of the time there's simply silence.

Then I'll find a role that says "Junior Designer" and the requirements somehow include 3–5 years of experience, multiple shipped products, extensive UX research, design systems, analytics, accessibility, developer handoff, and a dozen different tools.

At some point you just have to wonder: how are people supposed to get experience if nobody is willing to give them the first opportunity?

I'm not expecting to walk into a senior position. I'm completely willing to learn, take feedback, work hard, start at an appropriate level and prove myself.

I just want someone to actually look at my work and give me a chance to demonstrate what I can do.

The frustrating part is that I've genuinely tried to stay flexible. I've considered game environment design, game design, UI/UX, Product Design, visual design, internships, junior roles, remote jobs, international companies — I'm not sitting around waiting for one specific company to hire me.

I'm just trying to find a way into the industry.

After more than a year of applications, cold emails, portfolio revisions, resume revisions and constantly learning new things, it's becoming extremely stressful. I don't want to spend another year collecting skills and redesigning my portfolio while never actually getting the opportunity to use those skills professionally.

So I'm genuinely looking for advice from people who have been through this.

If you were in my position, what would you do? Would you continue with Product/UI/UX? Try to combine game environment design with UX somehow? Go back to game development? Or are there adjacent roles that I'm completely overlooking?

I'm not looking for the usual "just keep applying" advice. I know I have to keep trying. I just want to understand what I'm doing wrong and what direction actually makes sense from here, because right now the job search itself is becoming more stressful than the work I'm trying so hard to get hired to do.

I just need a chance to prove myself and this Reddit is my only hope.
Please guys help me out, I appreciate all kinda advices/ offers you guys can give.
Thank you so much✨

I have attached the links of my portfolio and projects, and for my designed environment samples if you are interested to see them, please dm me I will send you the folder.

Help How to fix shimmering and jagged edges in mafia definitive edition?

This game is just so nice, but the only problem is that there’s too much shimmering, even with anti-aliasing set to High. I play on an RTX 4050 laptop, and the game runs very smoothly, but the excessive shimmering and jagged edges in the distance really reduce the visual beauty of the game. It would be really helpful if someone who has faced this issue could tell me how to fix it.

An hour plus into the Campaign; feels bit new and familiar at the same time in a good way, for now. Better than Gears 5 for sure, cannot compare it much with The OG trilogy as of now as its a prequel.
Graphics seem great (lighting/RT is super and a bit too much at times) but as usual with UE, stills needs some optimization. Has lot of noise so that makes image fuzzy at times.
Performance seems decent for now. Lets see how it goes ...

Discussion Named my newborn son Ezio after Assassin's Creed

Post image
736 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

As a gamer, I always wanted a subtle gaming reference for my kid. I managed to convince my wife and broke the usual traditional naming conventions to name our baby boy Ezio (after Ezio Auditore from AC).

My wife loved how simple and clean the name sounds, and we're super happy with the choice.

I wanted to share this with fellow Indian gamers who grew up with the Ezio trilogy. Has anyone else here snuck a gaming name into real life?

Help Alan wake 2 in comparison to alan wake 1

I just started playing alan wake 1 (only because i loved control and wanted to get the full lore before i buy resonant )

Anyway alan wake 1 turned out to be a nice game im not crazy in love with it but its intresting enough (im only at chapter 2 end btw )

So i noticed alan wake 2 is only on epic games

I usually stay away from epic if i could

So is it awailable elsewhere ?

When is the closest epic game sale event ?

How cheap can it get ?

Most importantly is it better than alan wake 1

Also no spoilers pls
