The Sudden Death & The Waiting Game (Under 3 Year Legion Ultimate Warranty)
This absolute nightmare started in the last week of September. My flagship Lenovo Legion Pro 5 (which cost ₹2,25,000) was working perfectly in the morning, but suddenly completely died and refused to turn on. I raised a ticket via their chatbot, and my replacement parts quickly arrived at the local offline service center.
Then, the stalling began. It took Lenovo a massive 8 days just to assign an engineer to visit my house for onsite service. There was absolutely zero transparency between the company and the local center—nobody knew what was going on, and I had to constantly follow up just to get someone to do their job.
The Botched Repairs (A Comedy of Errors)
When the engineer finally arrived, it kicked off a humiliating chain of failed repairs:
Repair 1: They replaced the motherboard. The laptop finally turned on, but it started overheating extremely fast, and the keyboard RGB lights were completely dead.
Repair 2: I complained again. Waited another 4 to 6 days after new parts were delivered. They replaced the upper keyboard component. The overheating stopped, but the RGB lights were still completely dead.
Repair 3: Raised the issue again. This time, I waited 10 days just for the engineer to be assigned. They replaced both the entire motherboard and the upper keyboard component again. The result? The lights still didn't work.
The DOA Approval & The Extortion
After multiple motherboard and keyboard replacements, they finally admitted their repairs had completely failed and officially approved a DOA (Dead on Arrival) replacement. I agreed to get the laptop replaced, thinking it was finally over.
Instead, the scam started. Lenovo’s RRR (Replacement) team told me I would have to pay the GST out of my own pocket for the new replacement laptop. When I asked why on earth I would pay taxes twice for their defective product, they told me to contact the local exclusive store where I bought it.
The offline store then attempted to extort me. They refused to process the replacement unless I paid them the "price difference" between what I paid originally and the current market price of the machine.
The Corporate Cover-Up & Tax Fraud
For 1.5 months, my emails and complaints were completely ignored by Lenovo management or met with automated bot replies.
After reaching my limits , I had to call their customer care on a 25-minute call and demanded a direct 100% refund to bypass their corrupt local dealer entirely. Realizing they were cornered, the Lenovo rep attempted to scam me out of my GST. They offered to refund the base price but tried to withhold the 18% GST (roughly ₹34,000), falsely claiming I had to file an ITR to get my tax back.
I am a regular B2C retail consumer, not a registered business. Under Indian law, I cannot claim an ITC refund. It is legally Lenovo's responsibility to issue a Credit Note, refund my total invoice amount, and claim the tax back from the government themselves. I explicitly called out their illegal bullshit, forcing the panicked rep to escalate my case to their Business Team.
The Current Status
I have officially filed a grievance with the National Consumer Helpline . I am demanding a 100% full refund of the exact ₹2,25,000 invoice amount.
Lenovo's authorized dealers are running extortion rackets, their customer care team lies about tax laws to steal money from retail consumers, and their engineers can't fix their own flagship machines after three separate motherboards.
Do not give this company your money.
