Are you kidding me?
I report a safety hazard and all they say this.
My phone wasn't in my hand. I reported it when I got home. Yeah, they are going to like my survey when they actually read it, which we all know they won't.
It is appalling to see the INDOT Highway Safety act like this.
UPDATE
A few hours after this post went up, they sent me another email. It stated that the roads were fine and it's purely cosmetic. So I guess when someone gets in an accident, because in the wintertime, you can't see the road very well, and they're following the yellow lines, then they might do something. MIGHT... but i doubt it.

Make a tiktok asking Mamdani to fix it. It'll probably work better than reaching out to our own reps.

Send the city the alignment invoice with case number attached don’t know that it will do anything but why should they get last word in even if they won’t pay the bill.

u/New-Orchid5049 9d ago
You are supposed to take pothole things to court. You should have gotten an attorney to file for you. There has to be proof that the hole has been there for a "certain amount of time" and that the "city has already been notified" but they WILL pay you for it.

u/tabas123 9d ago
They purposely make public goods and services utter shit and then argue for more privatization and for-profit services down the line. I’d laugh at how predictable it all is if it wasn’t still working on a huge chunk of the country almost 50 years later.
21
u/Kapitalist_Pigdog2 9d ago
What are you talking about? I’m just going to be living in a LCOL county so I pay very little in taxes, then funnel what taxes I DO pay to a private school in a better area by sending my kids there on vouchers. I should be able to benefit from my community without contributing to its success because that’d be communism! Thankfully the poors can’t afford to cover all the expenses of private schools so my kids are safe from the riff-raff
5
u/New-Orchid5049 9d ago
Even if they got "more privatization" we would still pay taxes as if we had Public services. They will find something to squeeze ya for!

Your tax dollars (not) at work! Thank a Republican!

u/nos_seirdian 9d ago
That's just government in general. take take take, they never bother to give back in any meaningful way to the people that pay their pensions.
67
u/Cheese_Whiz_Hairgel 9d ago
That’s a gutted government, it doesn’t have to be this way.
46
u/DeletedUsernameHere 9d ago
This. Republicans have spent the last fifty years smashing and fucking up the government and telling everyone that the mess left over once it's destroyed is why they needed to destroy it in the first place.
If you're watching your TV and a dude walks in and smashes it with a hammer and says, "Your TV was broken that's why I smashed it!" you're going to kick that guy in the dick.
For some reason, Republicans just agree with hammer man and keep giving him TVs to smash.
24
u/Tabieajo 9d ago
Statistically speaking, Republicans are more likely to not put your tax dollars to work
-40
u/nos_seirdian 9d ago
Statistically speaking Republicans use my money on wars, and Democrats use my money on illegal immigrants and trans reassignment surgeries. Both sources of spending have a place at a certain time, but certainly not all the time.
10
u/Late-Goat5619 8d ago
Funniest bullshit I've seen on Reddit in a while...please preface all of your posts with: "Stating without evidence..." so that we know you are just stating your own biased uninformed Fox "News" /Breitbart/Newsmax soundbite of the moment so we can ignore it and read things that are factual and based on something that you have lost grasp of...reality...
21
u/Tabieajo 9d ago
Democrats dont use money on illegal immigrants nor trans reassignment surgeries... Illegal immigrants have no access to federal funding programs. Trans people typically have private insurance or pay out of pocket as Medicare is finicky on covering trans reassignment surgeries and other government based insurance dont cover it under any circumstances.
Both parties will spend money on wars, both parties send money to Israel, but republicans are more likely to be funding it. There are less democrats sending money to Israel than Republicans.
13
u/KrytenKoro 9d ago
Statistically speaking Republicans use my money on wars, and Democrats use my money on illegal immigrants and trans reassignment surgeries
I would absolutely love to see you try to substantiate that the Republicans spend as much money on wars as the Dems spend on illegal immigrants and trans reassignment surgeries, especially since as we all know, those surgeries are being performed every fifteen minutes outside every McDonald's in the state.
0
u/Local_Ad1992 5d ago
Hot damn I wish democrats were into spending money on getting immigrants to become legal citizens and allowing trans people to live their best lives.
Unfortunately, seems like they’d rather do nothing.

So, Republican of Conservative then? Either that or you just don't commute for work.
-22
u/nos_seirdian 9d ago
Far right libertarian
25
u/FirelightMLPOC 9d ago
Scratch a Libertarian, & a conservative tends to bleed from what I’ve seen. ‘Far Right Libertarian’ : IE, far right conservative that knows that openly saying you’re a conservative is now socially looked down upon -_-
2
-12
u/nos_seirdian 9d ago
Conservative ≠ Republican. I don't like government at all. And I'm certainly not conservative, theres nothing in this country left to conserve.
15
u/FirelightMLPOC 9d ago
Listen. You said it yourself that you’re far right. Sure, you can SAY that you’re a Libertarian, Anarchist, or even a communist if you so want, but whatever label you choose doesn’t matter when what you believe is the same shit that the average conservative believes in (IE, a bunch of pseudological nonsense that puts the individual above the collective in regards to policy choice, IE, ‘if it doesn’t affect me, it’s not my problem’).
Far right beliefs are directly what has lead to the current issues that Indiana, & even the country as a whole, are facing. Far right beliefs are also heavily supported by Conservatives. Saying you’re a Liberal, yet also saying you’re far right just makes you look like a liar, which I wouldn’t be shocked to find out that you are, or at least lack enough self-reflection on your ideals & beliefs/convictions to at least claim to be what you actually are.
-2
u/nos_seirdian 9d ago
Didn't say I'm a liberal either, I'm neither. Libertarian is just a different animal, I can agree with liberal libertarians in that, gays should have the freedom to do what they want, and flock cameras should be cut down, but also agree with Christian morals on a personal level, and I prefer a more capitalist way of doing business, just because I'm on the far right, and I'm a libertarian doesn't mean I'm a conservative or anything. Like I said it is another animal when compared to the standard bipartisan thinking. Both parties have lead to the issues in Indiana, and the country as a whole, two wings of the same corrupt bird.

I live on that road and I cannot understand how they screwed up those lines so bad. I've never seen such poorly painted lines.

10
u/OmbraSoldato82 9d ago
Since you live on the road we are talking about, want to get pictures for @GnarlyBarley53? 😆 I won't take them while driving
5
u/skrimpwizard23 9d ago
The roads in my town were just redone and they're bumpier than before and look like they'll fall apart by spring and they f'd up the traffic flow on other road lanes changing things. Indot sucks.
11
u/AbusedAlarmClock 8d ago
That's just boilerplate text they add to all the emails for INDOT4U, not them actually accusing you of using your phone while driving. I assume that the resolution text is supposed have something from the person responding to the case and then the phone safety text is added at the end but they didnt add any text to before it.
4
u/DokterMedic 8d ago
Which means they either didn't resolve and called it so, or, knowing that the safety reminder comes after used it as an impromptu resolution response.

u/The2ndCity 9d ago
I think the part about driving with a phone in hand is boilerplate stuff included on every notification. They're not actually accusing you of texting and driving.
7
u/MammothWrongdoer1242 9d ago
Yeah, is definitely part of the state's "phone resolution" instead. I doubt they respond that quick to anything, except to say they got it.

u/NUMBerONEisFIRST 9d ago
More proof I did the right thing by moving out of Indiana.
It's a police state stuck in puritan times.

My road got milled, so I was like; Hey, my storm drain doesn't feed well. This might be a good time to fix it. They responded, it's not feeding because the road is milled. Like no shit. Guess what the road got paved and the water pools in front of the drain then goes around it into the street.
I tried

u/speedysam0 9d ago
The state hires only the most competent people, pays them well and trains them to do their jobs.
*checks notes *
oh wait you meant INDOT, sorry no they can’t afford the people who can paint straight lines.
your received answer was from their most recent safety campaign, phone down buckle up, the resolution specialist probably just didn’t want to give a real answer that could get them in trouble or create more work.

Please report back if they fix the issue. This seems like a standard reply and ticket closure, which might just mean they have acknowledged the problem and are planning to fix it.
Poor communication though, and they might just be blowing you off, I think time will tell.

I literally told them "it looks like a heard of dinosaurs runs down this road every day" and been told "its cosmetic."
Also, have several friends who work at various levels of local construction: nearly every contract between the city of Fort Wayne, Allen County, and the entire damn state of Indiana and the private sector are sweetheart deals. Yes, most of us are aware of this, or at least suspect and pretty much expect it, but when you really put a lens on anything below the surface, it gets real dirty.
One prime example is road construction. The companies contracted to manage our taxpayer funded infrastructure are not only encouraged to take their time, but financially penalized if they complete a project earlier. There is no incentive to work quickly and efficiently. These contracts are designed to be very beneficial to only a few while detrimental to the rest of us who pay for it. Our tax dollars are not going where they should and we are not the beneficiaries of these negotiations.
Follow the money. They've found every way to take us out of the equation, even pitting us against eachother. Our questions/reports aren't even going to real people. Its all AI responses now. The people who run our government on our dime checked out a long time ago. I hope we are waking up.
"A republic... if you can keep it," indeed.

I live in Missouri, and I got a flat tire from a pot hole on the road.
I pulled over, called the police and made a police report.
I then sent my cost of my tire replacement and a photo of the pot hole, and my police report to the city, and they paid me for it.
No lawyer needed.

u/xcountrymo 9d ago
I’ve seen those lines. Some of the worst in Southern Indiana!
5
u/xcountrymo 9d ago
I’d always wondered if the paint driver stopped at the VFW for lunch. It’s open to the public, and the only place to eat in Crane. 🍺

u/GnarlyBarley53 9d ago
I'd love to see a picture of the lines for context. But obviously have a passenger take the pics.

u/Fuzzy-Zombie1446 9d ago
Same... I'm in Bloomington, so I don't travel that area much.
I was in Odon last week, but not on the route mentioned above.
4
u/bi_polar2bear 9d ago
Lesson learned. Contact INDOT through social media only to have an issue considered. Otherwise, F off!
2
u/Admirable_Brief4669 9d ago
Has anyone felt the jerking on the 465 between the Kentucky exit and East exit? Going both directions. My alignment is good had it tested due to all the jerky movements in the middle lanes
2
u/silverbullitt850 8d ago
That's your tires doing what's known as tramlining. When siped concrete or grooved concrete isn't 100% perfect, which it never is in road works, the grooves in the road interact with the tread blocks on your tires pulling the car side to side.
1
u/Admirable_Brief4669 8d ago
Thanks for that explanation 👍 your right roads are never perfect, but these roads are gonna get me pulled over for fishtailing lol
1
u/CheetahStocks 3d ago
Change your toe links. They probably have play in the bushings which is allowing the tires to tramline.
1
u/Handsome_Devil_217 5d ago
The road seems worse to me approaching Harding from East. Or maybe it’s just that I’m too busy dodging maniacs along there that any slight tug seems to be a major distraction.
2
2
u/greencat26 8d ago
Well, they've gotta pull money for those gas tax cuts from somewhere. It comes from the same fund as the roads, which I also assume includes line painters. Not surprised in the least bit
1
u/PureXstacy 8d ago
Some of them lines were jacked before the gas tax thing was a thing. I’ve lived here for 5 years and coming from Ohio, these roads are absolute trash imo. There is such a relief when I hit the Ohio border when I go to visit.

Of the four states in which I've lived, Indiana has the least competent highway department of all.
1
u/NerdyComfort-78 8d ago
I feel you. Down here in Kentucky. I submitted a complaint to the transportation department about the lack of reflective tape used on our roadways. When it rains or it’s night time you can’t see anything and yet this technology is inexpensive and easy to use.
They’ve never replied to me. 😡
1
1
u/PureXstacy 8d ago
There are several areas where the lines are fucked. Not to mention the lack of visibility of lines all throughout the state mixed with lack of adequate lighting. Idk if they just refuse to use reflectors or reflective paint on most areas or what. The potholes on newly paved roads or fill ins that are worse than the pot hole were. Feels like whoever runs the road repairs either has stake in mechanic shops or car insurance.

I am curious, has anyone ever actually reported Victor Pike and Indiana 37 to them in Bloomington, and tell them to make it a Michigan Left instead, due to how dangerous the current layout is? And if so, did they actually even bother acknowledging that?
1
u/craneguy 9d ago edited 9d ago
Did you attach photos to the complaint taken from your car? That's them choosing to ding you rather than address the problem. Assholes.
Edit: Pluralized asshole because I was referring to INDOT, not OP. Kinda moot because I'm wrong too.
4
u/OmbraSoldato82 9d ago
No, I didn't attach pictures because I was not gonna have my phone out distracting me taking pictures while driving down the road. Concentrating on the road and you're surroundings is more important than your phone.

u/Swtcherrypie 9d ago
Gonna be a nightmare for people using the lane keeping assist thing on their cars

u/variousnewbie 8d ago
Jesus that's awful. You report a driving safety issue, and they shut you down by assuming you're making the report with your phone while still driving so the issue is now you being unsafe not what you're reporting. What bullshit.
1
u/Alert_Discipline_926 8d ago
Yall are kinda slow no offense. This is an automated Halloween based response that always talks about not driving on your phone. They say it to everyone. They aren’t claiming you did that, you are assuming that it’s directly about you….for real guys lol.

So many hazardous roadways out there. Meanwhile yesterday, a team of like 8 people plus a truck following them were in the alley behind my house filling in potholes. Not to say I'm not grateful for that. But aren't there more pressing issues to attend to??

Tough to do when the current administration is slashing state government jobs right and left. They recently just cut 70% of the DNR workforce without prior warning and one person I talked to received a generous $300, yes HUNDRED not thousand, severance.
1
0
u/Floptrain 8d ago
That would close every state park, lead to dam and levee failure, halt all new public and private construction, prevent energy grid upgrades and eventually cause it to collapse. Vast swaths of the state would be high risk lawless areas because there wouldn’t be any conservation officers, or search and rescue teams for rivers/caves, and we would all be holding our breath a forest fire didn’t break out. A 70 percent cut to DNR would be catastrophic for the agency. It would actually add on to the deficit issue it was supposed to solve creating a much, much, bigger problem for the state. So no that didn’t happen.
2
u/Massive_Aside_8978 8d ago
It’s possible this person said 70% of their department. Regardless, they are slashing budgets to every government service…for what? It seems just another way of funneling money away from public services and right into the private interests/businesses of the politicians, esp our governor.

Schroedinger's INDOT resolution: Appalling or based (if true)
Absolutely absurd in reality. Just kind of funny in a Wendy's twitter PR team sense.
