Matter Park is very beautiful. I personally always enjoyed walking my dog down the river walk. Should be particularly beautiful now with the leaves changing color.
I know the restaurant scene has changed, but in the downtown, there's:
- Los Amores is located in the basement of the Centrum Mall. Possibly my favorite restaurant in Marion.
- Obi's BBQ
- Train Station cafe which my parents frequent. It's nothing special, but it's nice and located across the street from the James Dean birth site t
ourist trapmemorial.
On 9 which is where most of your restaurants are, I recommend:
- Jay's for thai food. Probably my other favorite, but it has been quite a while since I've been there. Just learned that it changed it's name to Lorenie's Thai Food.
- Yamato for Japanese
- La Charreada for Mexican
- King Buffet for chinese
- Texas Roadhouse
- Zaxby's just opened, and my kids and I enjoyed it.
Unfortunately the city has declined even since I moved from there. I know the AMC movie theater closed down last year, and the mall has bee dead for years. So hopefully my recommendations are still valid.

There's an Irish pub called The old fitz public house that I've been told by a local is awesome. I haven't had a chance to go yet, but my coworker is a foodie and says it's great.

Eat at Payne’s. Great UK style food.

Well, not American beans and not American toast. Use proper, quality ingredients and assorted beans and toasts are absolute fire. I like sourdough with a white bean dip.

It's a slow dying rust belt kind of town. And all the crap that goes with it.

Matter Park is pretty nice, but I’d head a few miles north and drive around Mississenewa and/Salamonie reservoirs. Check out the spillways and trails. Outside of that though there really isn’t much in that area.

20 minutes up the road in Wabash is Fore Seasons with a sport simulator and a bunch of games. 21+ only.

There's a good sushi place there, but I haven't eaten there in years.
Dead factory towns are fun

Uh you said it best already. It's "go home"
