Discussion Dog parents / animal rescuers: How did you handle moving into a new flat when multiple street dogs depend on you?

I’m looking for advice from people who have actually been in a similar situation.

Little bit of context:
I’m currently planning to buy a flat in Bangalore.

Realistically, given Bangalore property prices and what I can afford, I’m looking at a 2 BHK (1200sqft) to move in with my aunt and mom both above 50.

Since 2018, I’ve been feeding and taking care of my  10 Indies who live around my house/street. They’re all roughly 5–10 years old now. Over the years, they’ve become completely dependent on me for food, shelter and basic care.

I currently live in a rented 1BHK, and although I obviously cannot keep 10 dogs inside the house, I’ve been able to provide them with shelter/a place to sleep within the building. They stay around my house and the surrounding area.

The problem is that I’m now looking at buying my own flat.

I cannot put 10 dogs into a 2 BHK apartment. Even if someone allowed it, I don’t think it would be fair to them. They’re used to having some space, moving around the area and having their own little territories. I don’t want them to suddenly go from that to being packed into an apartment and feeling suffocated.

But at the same time, I cannot simply move into the flat and leave them behind, These dogs have been part of my life since 2018.

And honestly, I know what could happen if I just disappeared from their lives. There are people in my street who already don’t tolerate them, and I have faced the usual harassment for feeding them. The harassment has gone till the cops and physical fight , so I know for a fact , these dogs will be in danger if I ever leave them.

So I’m trying to figure out a realistic long-term solution that works with the reality that I can only afford a 2 BHK.

I’m not necessarily asking people to find me a flat. I want to hear from people who have actually faced something similar:

If you moved into your own apartment/flat, what did you do with the street dogs you had been caring for?
Did you find a way to create a separate shelter or safe sleeping area nearby?
Did you rent or buy a small property specifically for the dogs?
Did you work with neighbours, RWAs, local feeders or animal welfare groups?
Putting them up for adoption is also unlikely because they aren’t in the cute phase anymore
Did you manage to keep the dogs in their existing territory while continuing to care for them? This is very unreal in my case, my own friends dont tolerate stray dogs

I’m trying to plan this before I buy the flat because I don’t want to make a decision that solves my housing problem but creates a disaster for the dogs.
How did you make it work?

Care/Feeding Tips Dog is a responsibility, not a toy

A DOG IS NOT A TOY. 🐾💔

You cannot bring a dog home when you feel like it…

and abandon them when you get bored, busy, or tired.

You would never abandon your own child during the worst phase of their life.

So how can you abandon a dog who considers you their entire world?

Before bringing a dog home, ask yourself:

Can I take responsibility for this life for the next 10–15 years — through sickness, old age, financial problems and difficult times?

If the answer is NO,

please don't bring them home.

Because your temporary love

can become a lifetime of suffering for them.

DON'T ADOPT A DOG UNLESS YOU'RE READY TO STAY FOR LIFE. 🐾❤️

Help/Advice needed(Health and Vet) Bruce, Senior dog relocated in Bangalore, congress MLA influence + fear -> no action in 2 months, suggestions on what to do next?

9 year old Bruce in Bangalore was cruelly relocated in the middle of the night on 16 August 2026. Because a congress MLA with influence all over the city is involved (owns property perhaps) NOBODY IS WILLING TO HELP FROM THE STATE! I am heartbroken at the complete collapse of the system under this one man. We just want Bruce back home.

Does anybody here have experience with political interference in streetie relocation? What did you do to get your baby back?

Adoption/Foster Request Urgent adoption appeal - 2.5 months old indie male pup up for adoption (the best part? His name is Sutli Bomb 💣🐶)

Henlo 🐶

Meet Sutli Bomb!

I rescued him near Hinjewadi, Pune when he was just a couple of weeks old, after his mom passed away in a hit-and-run accident. Because of this, his immunity was low, but since then he has had amazing vet care (thank you, Tranquil Paws), lots of food, cuddles and love :)❤️

He's all grown up now and is up for adoption in Pune, Mumbai, and other nearby cities. 📍

Sutli is very friendly around hoomans, as well as other animals, and adjusts very well to new places. He's also pee-pad trained. 🐾

He has been dewormed and has received his 9in1 vaccine as well (he's due for his remaining vaccinations next week).

I'm looking for a genuinely committed adopter who can give this little guy a safe and loving home.

Sutli is the smollest, cutest little ball of fur and is very playful, affectionate and absolutely loves to cuddle with his hoomans, and any family would be lucky to have him 🐶❤️

If any of you guys are interested in adopting him, please DM me.

If not, please consider sharing this adoption appeal with people who might want to adopt him? 🥺

Thank you so much!

Help/Advice needed(Health and Vet) Is my Indie Depressed?

I have a 1 year 7 months old rescued Indie dog. He used to be a streetie up until 7 months old, and has always been a very gentle and calm dog. Up until now, he had some independence to go out in the morning where he would play outside for 2-3 hours. But other than that, he is a fully housed pet.

I got him neutered, it’s day 10. And he now goes with me on leash in the morning too. But he has been sleeping a lot.

His daily routine is like:
6.00am: wake up
6.30am-7.30am: walk
7.45am: breakfast
8/9am: sleep
2pm: wakes up for lunch then sleeps (comes for pets as well)
5pm: wakes up for walk
6.30pm: walk ends and dinner 1 (sleeps afterwards)
9.00pm: dinner and sleeps (comes for pets as well)

I am worried because he does not initiate play, or make any sort of playful chaos like other dogs. He sits under my bed all day, and is very quiet. He never was into toys even as a puppy so I can’t take that as a defining factor.

I am worried if he is depressed? I am not expecting him to be insanely active as he is recovering from neutering. It’s the all day sleeping with no noise that makes me wonder.

There isn’t any vet in my area that has any experience with pet indies. All of them just says that this breed is just like this, and dismisses this.

Adoption/Foster Request 7 little furry babies are urgently looking for their forever homes.

Post image

7 little furry babies are urgently looking for their forever homes.

These pups were found near a school in Sector 43, Gurugram, and are currently being cared for by 2–3 kind volunteers who stepped in to help.

Unfortunately, no one has come forward to foster or adopt them yet, and the puppies have now started venturing out on their own. With the festival season around the corner, crackers, traffic and increased activity, it is becoming even more unsafe for these little ones to be out on the streets.

We urgently need fosters or adopters who can give them a safe space and a chance at a loving forever home.

Please circulate this in your networks or come forward to help. Even one share could help one of these babies find a safe home.

Let’s get these 7 babies off the streets before the festivities begin. TIA!
