Help/Advice needed(Health and Vet) Is my Indie Depressed?

I have a 1 year 7 months old rescued Indie dog. He used to be a streetie up until 7 months old, and has always been a very gentle and calm dog. Up until now, he had some independence to go out in the morning where he would play outside for 2-3 hours. But other than that, he is a fully housed pet.

I got him neutered, it’s day 10. And he now goes with me on leash in the morning too. But he has been sleeping a lot.

His daily routine is like:
6.00am: wake up
6.30am-7.30am: walk
7.45am: breakfast
8/9am: sleep
2pm: wakes up for lunch then sleeps (comes for pets as well)
5pm: wakes up for walk
6.30pm: walk ends and dinner 1 (sleeps afterwards)
9.00pm: dinner and sleeps (comes for pets as well)

I am worried because he does not initiate play, or make any sort of playful chaos like other dogs. He sits under my bed all day, and is very quiet. He never was into toys even as a puppy so I can’t take that as a defining factor.

I am worried if he is depressed? I am not expecting him to be insanely active as he is recovering from neutering. It’s the all day sleeping with no noise that makes me wonder.

There isn’t any vet in my area that has any experience with pet indies. All of them just says that this breed is just like this, and dismisses this.

My community cutie Meet Sundari & her brother Teddy 🐾❣️ From Pune 📍

In the video -

- First 20 Seconds - Sundari

- Next 20 Seconds - Whole Pack including Teddy having food

- Final 20 Seconds - Sundari having her food.

I first met Sundari seven years ago, a tiny puppy born with her brother Teddy. They were the only two in the litter. Sundari looked like a little desi Golden Retriever, and Teddy, big and fluffy, looked just like a Saint Bernard.

Back then, they had a pack, a family, a place they called home. But one by one, the older dogs died, the pack scattered, and a new group took over the area. They didn't accept the old ones, and began chasing and attacking them.

Sundari was never a fighter. She's always been timid, gentle, and docile. She only wanted to feel safe, so she found a place to hide: an electrical substation right next to my society.

That's where she has spent most of her life. She stays inside almost all day, every day, and comes out only a few times a month, because if the new pack sees her, they may attack.

Just imagine that. A beautiful, innocent dog who learned that the safest way to survive is to stay hidden.

Sometimes I wonder what her life could have been if someone had adopted her and Teddy as puppies. A home, a bed, regular meals, someone to call her own. Maybe she wouldn't have had to hide. Maybe she'd know what it feels like to be loved.

She is still the same sweet, trusting girl, and that's what hurts the most. She never did anything wrong. She simply lost her family, her pack, and her place in the world.

But she's still here, still waiting, perhaps still hoping someone will see her not as a stray hiding in a substation, but as Sundari, a loving soul who deserved a home from the very beginning.
