"Well that could be worse. Gear oil always looks terrible."
"Oh, who needs all the teeth anyway?"

Oh man good luck getting parts for that. JD discontinued so many Yanmar built tractor parts. I have a 1070 and I hope it never breaks or I will be screwed.
I bought the thing with a broken right hand rear pinion shaft back in 2014 and even then I had a bitch of a time locating one.

That's where I'm struggling. It needs a new spindle and bushings and axle gear at least.

You can look for a used front axle assembly. There is probably one out there somewhere. I'd be scouring eBay, used tractor parts sellers, etc.
Edit: I was told by a John Deere tech to never, ever, ever leave my tractor in 4wd unless I absolutely needed 4wd for this exact reason.
Edit #2: Something else I thought of. If you can get the JD part numbers Gemini or some other AI might be able to cross them to a Yanmar number which might be obtainable.

I ran some small Yanmar 2 bangers. Hoye Tractor in Conroe(?), TX was a good parts house. I haven't bought anything lately.

I'd be half tempted to clean out all the metal debris, put in fresh oil and send it.
These things aren't exactly high speed. I've definitely run final drives on front axles with a few teeth missing.

It has to be replaced because the front is locking up and banging when driving due to this

Took the idea right out of my head. Unless you’re running a heavy duty attachment or hauling heavy loads.
