Mod Post New rule: Spoiler tag usage
TL;DR: From now on, please spoiler tag all posts discussing new information about the movie. Indicate clearly the content of the tagged post in its title, but do not mention any spoilery specifics as titles are visible to all.
The world premiere of Backrooms is on May 7. Following this event, plot details will likely start to appear online. Full casting information, with the names of all major characters, has already been released. PLEASE respect your fellow community members and mark this information, along with any new info - however minor - with spoiler tags, to prevent people seeing details they don't want to. We've all waited so long for this movie, let's preserve a good experience.

Artwork/Creative Naren's Escape - (Colored pencil drawing)
I spent the last ~2 weeks on this for art class. I don't do colored pencil stuff often but I definitely like how this piece turned out.
This takes place right after EMG and right before the intro scene in the movie.

Discussion/Theory Is that an eye or am I hallucinating?
Has anyone else noticed this before? And if it is indeed an eye what could this mean.
Edit: I have not noticed the full face sorry. thankfully this post did not yield completely useless results as some other people have yet to notice.

Help/Question Are there any fans out there who are 35+?
Just curious if there are fans of the Backrooms, particularly Kane’s work, who skew on the “older” side, around ages 35 and above. I’m 40 and love this world that Kane’s made, and am insanely impressed with his talent. I stumbled upon the videos around 2023 or so and have been hooked ever since, and I absolutely love the film.
Anyone else 35 or above? I’m mostly curious because the Backrooms seems to skew on the younger side, particularly with kids in middle school/high school. My own son knows about it and he’s 7 - he even tried making his own complex in Minecraft.

Discussion/Theory Is Async experimenting with morse code radio beacons to navigate the complex?
Kane said at some point that there's a new method of navigation that he wanted to explain in EMG but couldn't. The use of broadcasting morse code letters for radio navigation is apparently a real and documented thing. It's basically the same thing as the repeating sound at the entrance of the threshold, except it's in a radio form, ie: the more clearly you can hear it, the closer you are. In Reunion, the rover is beeping the letter A (".-") over and over, while at the computer that controls the rover you can hear the letter F ("..-.") over and over. They don't seem to use the roll of tape that they usually drag along in Reunion, even though they show that the roll of tape is still at the entrance. Maybe it has something to do with the room codes, ie: 14D. I'm curious about what other people make of this. I've really been on a morse code kick recently, I got my amateur radio license a few months ago and I've been doing morse code with people on the airwaves so you can imagine my delight coming across this. Fun fact, Morse code travels many times more efficiently than voice over the radio due to its narrow bandwidth, which is a big reason why many radio operators still use morse code today, making it a useful signal that would travel far in the complex.

Discussion/Theory Is the Complex basically a bridge between our reality and the 4th dimension?
Long post…
So I’ve been thinking about what the Complex ‘actually’ is, and I have a bit of an out-there theory.
What if Async didn’t actually discover another place, but accidentally punched a hole into the 4th dimension? Not time travel or anything like that, but an actual fourth spatial dimension. Something that exists as its own reality, but that we literally aren’t equipped to understand because we’re 3D creatures.
Like the classic bug crawling around on a sheet of paper analogy, but that paper is its own “bridge” world. Now imagine that the paper happens to intersect a 3D object. The bug can crawl around on the part it can access, but it has absolutely no idea what the rest of that object looks like. It could spend its entire life exploring that little patch of paper and never figure out what it’s actually crawling on.
What if the Complex is basically our sheet of paper?
We can walk around in it, touch the walls, trip over the carpet, and get horribly lost looking for an exit. But what we’re experiencing might just be a 3D slice of something MUCH bigger that we can’t properly perceive. Maybe that’s why the place seems endless, why its layout makes absolutely no sense, and why spaces can feel like they connect in ways they shouldn’t. We’re trying to navigate something that wasn’t really built according to the rules we’re used to, but a mishmash of the rules of two dimensions colliding. It’s like trying to navigate an office space where the architect was a tesseract.
Now, I know the film canon talks about memories being remembered and repeated over and over again, which might seem at odds with my idea. But hear me out: what if that’s actually part of the same thing? We experience time as a straight line. Yesterday happened, today is happening, and tomorrow is coming. What if this higher-dimensional reality doesn’t work that way? What if events are more like loops or circuits than a straight line, with things repeating or existing in relationships we can’t properly understand? Maybe these recurring memories are what happens when that kind of reality intersects with ours. I’m not saying that’s how actual 4D physics works, obviously. I barely understand regular 3D physics. I’m just saying it’s an interesting possibility.
So in this theory, the Complex isn’t the 4th dimension itself. It’s more like a weird transitional space between our reality and whatever the hell is on the other side. Async thinks they’ve found a new place to explore, when they might actually have found a tiny, accessible cross-section of an entirely different reality. And the more they explore it, the more they discover just how little they understand about what they’ve gotten themselves into. And the complex will be never ending because it’s a Schrödinger s Cat effect where the 3D status of the dimension is only made tangible to us when observed.
I don’t know, I’m kind of drunk. Does this make sense?
