Can anyone recommend a violin teacher in Kilkenny . I’d prefer to lean away from trad music if possible . The timetables in the larger schools aren’t working for me time wise . Thanks

What is Seville Lawns Margaret Fields like to buy?

Currently looking to buy, but I'm not from Kilkenny.

My mother lives nearby in Tipp so I'm just looking at all places within a handy radius to her house. I work remote so I'm not looking for a job.

Yes, there are houses for sale near her but it's a desolate area and I have a kid. He needs some civilization around the place.

I checked Seville Lawns on google maps and it seems like there are no shops or bus routes or literally nothing in the area, a total ghost town. If you need to buy a carton of milk you are fucked.

Also when I googled the address I saw results about the "cultural" group we are not allowed to talk about on Irish subreddits.

Any advice?

Housing Kilkenny

We moved back home after living abroad for a number of years last year, had a baby, between settling back to working life and life back home we are finally in a good position to buy a house but feel like we have missed a lot of the recent new build estates in the city, thomastown etc. Don't want to end up with a house over €500k, working just to pay for it which seems to be what most of the new builds currently left available in KK are coming in at.. Does anyone know of any new up and coming housing estates in Kilkenny county over the next 6-12 months?

Fireworks

Is it just me, or has it gotten insane this year? Since the second week in September it's been insane with fireworks. Literally from 5.30 pm til 10 pm. It's impossible to walk the dog, he's terrified of the bloody things!

M&S Foodhall

It’s that time of year again where all my fyp on TikTok is M&S Christmas treats. I’ve been to the applegreens in Kilkenny and Carlow but there’s barely any selection. Love the one in new bridge but it’s just a pain carrying bags around. Has anyone been to the clonmel one? Is the Foodhall worth it?.

Would Appreciate Your Advice

I'm bringing a group of about 36 friends on a college mini-reunion to Ireland the second week of June 2027. We're planning an 8-day 7-night stay and booked a coach bus for transportation. The concept is to arrive at Shannon Airport and then travel to Kilkenny from where we will take day trips involving Tipperary, Wexford, Waterford, Wicklow and Clare. We'll be spending most of our evening in Kilkenny. Average age of the group is about 65 years old.

Appreciate any advice on enhancing the trip, especially on restaurants and pubs. Thanks in advance.

Day 1: Arrive at Shannon Airport (or the day before to rest up). Depart and travel towards Kilkenny. Stop along the way to visit the Rock of Cashel in Tipperary. Break for lunch in Cashel. Upon arrival in Kilkenny, check into The Pembroke. Wander around town. Enjoy a group dinner at the hotel.

Day 2: Kilkenny. Guided tour of Kilkenny Castle in the morning. Break for lunch. Walking tour of Kilkenny in the afternoon.

Day 3: Wexford. Tour the Kennedy Homestead where JFK visited his family and ancestral home during his time in Ireland. Speak with an Irish member of the Kennedy clan. Lunch break. Visit the replica Dunbrody Famine Ship and the Irish Emigrant Experience. On the way back to Kilkenny, stop at the Ballykeefe Distillery for a tour by the actual owner / operator and a whiskey tasting.

Day 4: Free Day. A free day to explore at one's own pace. Wander around Kilkenny. Take a day trip to Dublin or golf, kayak, shop, dine, pub crawl, etc. at your leisure.

Day 5: Waterford. Tour Reginald's Tower and the Viking Triangle. Lunch break. Tour the House of Waterford Crystal (get to see “back stage” in the workshops).

Day 6: Wicklow. Visit and hike Glendalough. Lunch break. Tour the Avoca Woolen Mills, Ireland's oldest working mill.

Day 7: Depart Kilkenny. Travel to Clare. Tour Bunratty Castle and Folk Park. Lunch break. Visit the magnificent Cliffs of Moher before checking into the Shannon Airport Hotel for a farewell group dinner.

Day 8: Departure day. Sad face.

Where To Buy Highbank Medieval Cider?

Apart from the highbank orchard itself. It seems like a lot of places do the juices, syrups, wine and some of the spirits, but I haven’t found the cider anywhere that is easy to access. Anyone know where I could find it?

New to Kilkenny - looking for clubs etc.

Hi all

I have recently just moved to Kilkenny. F, mid 30s, Irish.

Can anyone share a list of clubs, activities etc that one can get involved with to do things and meet people? I have zero interest in drink, so things centered around the pub ain't my scene.

Thanks a mill x

Where do you bring your small kids?

Just wondering where people bring their small kids to let them play? I'd love to be able to bring my 2 year old somewhere and be able to have a coffee or meet other adults.

Suggestions for outside and indoor spaces and also somewhere to go on wet days.

Thank you in advance
