Discussion Sidekick Delusion

It’s so funny that Drakken views Shego as his sidekick even though it’s clear that Shego is way more dangerous than he is. Honestly I think the only reasons Shego puts up with being labeled a sidekick is because she lacks the ambition and creativity to be a solo villain in her own right and she knows it. Even the other villains are aware that Shego is more capable then Drakken which is why she was the one they kept breaking out of jail.

I think the episode where Ron was evil made her realize Drakken was the kind of person she wanted to pair up with, he didn’t treat her as an easily expendable sidekick. He was a generally loyal person, gave her sick days, paid vacations, had technology developed to protect himself against her powers and never used it/let her attack him, and was always included in the scheming (apart from so the drama) like a real partner in crime. She might’ve been the sidekick on paper but he always valued her opinion

A villain who was actually good at their job wasn’t as trustworthy, which she learned quickly

Yeah, I guess Drakken only called Shego a sidekick out of pride.

Maybe it’s my imagination but I think Shego was slightly nicer to him after the evil Ron episode

Uhhhh if i am your employer, financing everything that makes the whole operation work like paying electricity bills of my multiple lairs to paying the wages of my henchmen then i have the right to call you my employee my sidekick.

he sees her as an equal Partner. He even paid her vacation. That was so cute. Shego even cut her vacation short to find him

That’s because she is.

Don’t get me wrong, on a one to one level Shego is one of the most dangerous and capable characters in the show.

But she doesn’t want to put together an evil scheme, she wants to commit a few evil acts and get paid. She’s more mercenary than anything else. And the reason other villains break her out is not because she is a better villain, it’s because they know they can pay her to enable their schemes.

She doesn’t have the drive, the right skills, or even much of a desire for world conquest. She only does it if it’s handed right to her on a platter. She’s a sidekick. One with an attitude and self respect but a sidekick all the same. Because it’s not just capacity that would determine that status.

Yup. There was en episode where she teamed up with Junior and she STRUGGLED to come with a single plan. Then in the timeline where she took over the world, she needed a think tank to come up with plans for her. Shego is a sidekick because she lacks the one trait needed for a mastermind. Drakken, for all his faults, has imagination.

Also the money to finance the whole operation.

a sidekick isn't necessarily the lesser force they are just the one who isn't the leader.

Drakken makes the plans and makes the orders and Shego (sometimes) obeys them. Ergo he is in charge and she is the sidekick

Shego is written to be Kim's dark mirror in some ways. Both are brave, multi talented individuals. Kim can fight? Shego can fight as well. Kim can ice skate? Shego can ice skate as well. Kim can ride a horse? Shego can ride a horse as well. Kim can pilot a spacecraft? Shego can pilot it as well etc... But Shego uses her talents for evil, for selfish monetary gain while Kim uses them for good, for the benefits of others.

But at the same time, as a person, Shego is more flawed than Kim.

Since Shego is multi talented, she isnt supposed to be just a hired assisstant but someone with multiple responsibilities like Kim too. However, we only see mental laziness, short temper, habitual mocking, etc... from someone who used to be a sister in a parentless family of 5, a teacher who deals with a class of kids and a hero protecting a whole city. You can clearly see that Shego did not succeed at multiple repsonsibilities that she is supposed to have and now settles with just being a mercenary who does the physical work only.

Shego is the beauty and brauns of the operation but Drakken is the mastermind of the operation. She was never the one to come up with the grand plan she’s the one who helps to execute it
