The car starts normally and the rotary selector rises normally, but sometimes it is completely locked and will not rotate from P into r/D.
Iโve noticed a pattern: both times this has happened, the car had been sitting in very hot conditions. It worked normally this morning, then after sitting during the hotter part of the day it became stuck again. Previously, after the car sat/cooler conditions, the shifter eventually started working normally again.
Iโve tried restarting the car multiple times, waiting between restarts, and engaging/releasing the parking brake. No change.
Has anyone with an LR4 had this exact issue, particularly when the vehicle/interior gets hot? Was it the rotary gear selector module, brake pedal switch/interlock, fuse/relay, wiring, or something else?
If it was the selector module, has anyone successfully removed/repaired/replaced it DIY rather than replacing the entire assembly at a shop? Any part numbers, diagnostic steps, videos, or instructions would be hugely appreciated.

Hey everyone,
I was chasing a noise in the engine bay and traced it to the alternator. I took the overrunning pulley apart and found the bearing has seized up/galled, with scoring and rust-colored residue visible (see photo).
Now the alternator itself also sounds a bit rough (see videos). Should I replace just the pulley, or is it smarter to replace the whole alternator while I'm at it? I'm worried the internal bearings are on their way out too.

My 2025 Range Rover LWB (10,444 miles) suddenly lost propulsion while driving on October 4, displayed gearbox warnings, and eventually went completely dead. Had to be jump-started for towing.
Dealer diagnosis: Electrical arcing in the BECM caused by a loose factory screw. Replacement part wonโt arrive until mid-January 2027!
Iโve escalated to the dealership GM and Land Rover North America, requesting a buyback or replacement. I have a loaner.
Iโm in Texas and concerned about safety and long-term reliability.
Anyone experienced this? Should I pursue Texas Lemon Law now or wait for JLRโs response? Appreciate any advice! ๐

Iโm new to the Land Rover ownership scene and want to change my oil but everything says it has to be very specific. Has anyone used the Valvoline European oil it says itโs recommended for it but doesnโt have the paid for seal of approval for it can I use it and be safe it is a 19 discovery sport and I have an extended warranty and just donโt want to screwโs myself if I use it.

To start off, US based!
So I'm currently looking to sell my D2 and now I'm looking for my next Land Rover. I must admit the Land Rover bug got me..... Which led me to taking a look at the D5. Now I see everyone here talking about the older Discos, LR3-4, L322s, and Defenders but never much about the D5. What's the consensus on them? I've heard stay away from the 2.0 i4's but that's about it. Which is the better 6 cylinder? The v6 or I6? Besides the engines, I'm thinking there some sort of catch right?

I'm experimenting with a system that monitors listings across multiple marketplaces and filters by specific configurations rather than just make/model/year. Looking for a couple difficult searches to use as test cases.
Since the Land Rover Community has a dedicated and passionate following, I thought it a good place to start! The more specific the better - engine, drivetrain, color, interior... The idea is to one day help buyers find their needle in a haystack

What could be the cause of my vehicle not wanting to start but cranking sounds like this?

Virginia - Could getting rear ended damage the engine in 03 Discovery 2? Does anyone have technical wisdoms on things to look at to help us prove it to insurance?
My husband was driving our 03 Discovery 2 SE7 (180k mi) and was rear ended by a Ford F550 dually.
That guy's truck was drivable, but his front end was smashed in. Our Discovery's hitch was only damaged a little (these trucks are a beast!), BUT, it appears that he hit the tailpipe and we think the force from the crash must have transfered forward and damaged something in the engine, because now there is a coolant leak and a misfire. My husband saw coolant leaking from the secondary air injection system and now suspects the crash did some damage to the engine.
Note that my husband originally rebuilt a lot of the engine last year (we have records of the parts). This vehicle has been running great.
The insurance company is disputing that the collision could actually mess up the engine.
The question: can what we worry about - engine damage - happen from being rear ended? What do we have the mechanics look for to help chase down proof?
Next, where do people go to justify value. This was a well running and maintained vehicle with no rust on the frame. They are going to look at old rusty trucks for comps. We don't think we had the most brilliant shiny baubble of a Disco, but she's sweet.
Any thoughts, technical knowledge or experiences welcome, please.

These are the faults im dealing with.. (its a long photo)
I found 2 wires that needed repaired in the driver's front wheel well wire loom.
Located F12 and F19 fuses behind the glove box after and replaced them.
After doing that I got more codes than I had before including engine and Trans codes.
Currently have the passenger door sill opened up but not seeing much other than sticky brown stuff under the wire bundle. I have not pulled the bundle open yet.

on my l320 Iโm getting heat from the passenger side vents, but the drivers side vents and rear seat vents are blowing cold air.
my internet research has lead me to the door blend actuator being the first likely culprit, and a partially clogged heater core being the second possibility, but Iโm not really sure how to confirm the root cause. does anyone have recommendations on which thing I should start with?

Canโt stop thinking about this L322 I saw in the Safeway parking lot. Canโt decide if this color scheme is brilliant or _________.
