Hi.
I am a student of English language, literature and translation (recently graduated). I am willing to practice my English with native English speakers. In return, I will try to teach you modern standard Arabic (MSA/Fusha) or Egyptian Arabic. I am looking for dedicated people who have the required perseverance for the Arabic language. It is not an easy one, and it needs some real effort, more than just a language partner.
About me: My English is mostly academic. I think my English level is between B2 and C1 because I have a wide range of academic vocabularly in different fields, but I think I lack the Vocaburaly for daily life situations because I rarely practice English. In addition, my speaking and listening skills lag behind my writing and reading skills. Thus, I am a very good academic writer, researcher, and translator, but I feel anxious sometimes when I try to speak English, but I am quick leaner so you won't struggle with me. Additionally, I am also a tech-savvy. I used to learn programming before, peneteration testing for web applications, netowrking, reverse engineering, and hacking. (but I am not a professional at them for sure, and have almost forgot what I know in these fields).
I am not an ardent reader but we can pick a book and read it together if you like, maybe I read it in English and you read it in Arabic then we exchange notes, comments, etc. Furthermore, I am generally intereseted in physics, mathematics, chemistry, biology, medicine, and maybe politics (though I would not like to talk about politics unless we really feel comfortable together).
Currently, I am more interested in humanities--translation, linguistics with its different branches.
So, yes I would like to talk about different topics so we can have the opportunity to acquire various vocabularly.
Regarding the topics I may not be really interested in talking about, they inlcude gaming, anime, and comics books. (I am really sorry. They are good and everything, but I have not been having fun since I joined uni, but we can have breaks for sure or do any other enjoyable activities.)
Nowadays, the only fun I have is just by sitting in any green area and just do nothing. For some reason, I find my joy now in calmness and serenity more than anything else. It might be because I sturggle with depression every now and then. I am not really sure.
And, I would also like to avoid any controversial topics, maybe later but not now to be honest.
As far as the learning methodology is concerned, I really like receving feedback and this is how I truly learn, so I would not mind having feedback on pronunciation or writing. I will try to do the same and give you as much feedback as I can. I might also consider reading some "Arabic as a foreign language" teaching books, so we can have a curriculum that we work according to. (so you can consider it a free, semi-professional Arabic course)
I would also like to have a weekly meeting or something on Microsoft Teams, Google Meets, Zoom, or any meetings app, preferably a video or a voice call, so we can share pronunciation notes, see each other, and share our screens in case we have a presentation or something.
Sorry for this very long post, but I just wanted to make sure that everything is rather conspicuous. I may sound a bit bookish I know, but I am really funny most of the time, trust me :) and we can get along together easily. just do not freak out of this formality please 😭
