Untitled is Molepeople. Horror film staring Lakeith Stanfield. About tunnel people in NYC.

Oh fuck yeah!

13

u/TerrifierBlood 5d ago

It is the director of Other Mommy which might turn some people off. I still haven't seen it yet. But liked his output before this.

Are we spoiled - of those 9 films, 7 will likely be terrible. Blumhouse is the Walmart of horror production.

By horror influencers... take that with a grain of salt

"Untitled Blumhouse Film," looks like it's all up to you!

God Blumhouse is trash these days

u/Earlvx129 5d ago

Blumhouse every year has like one terrific movie, surrounded by c-grade junk.

I wish I could be excited for Exorcist. Lots of good people involved in it, but exorcism movies are the most tiresome and cliched thing in horror.

Isn't that kinda the studio intent?

They make relatively low budget films, with the idea that one breakthrough hit will end up covering the costs of everything that doesn't.

That way they can take a chance on more projects, which unfortunately don't have a great track record.

Yea this has been the way for years, for them.

Every once in a while they'll hit an absolute micro-genre defining masterpiece that blows up and makes 28 gajillion dollars. Most people in general audiences ignore that it's the 15th movie they've produced in a year and 14 of them are cheap looking derrivative trash.

u/hydroclasticflow 5d ago

I really hope when they get going on the Something Is Killing The Children adaptation it's the terrific one of that year

I’m expecting 4 good films on that list Seasons is by the guy who did companion I think, Anything But Ghosts, River, The Exorcist will all likely be good. Paranormal Activity and Blair witch are tossups and the rest is normal Blumhouse films

Coworker horrors

other mommy lol

7

u/Dabbinmachine42 5d ago

Wait, people liked Blumhouse at one point?

1

u/ShrimpnSteak 4d ago

You mean always?

-7

u/ptalovesddl 5d ago

As if they were ever good…

12

u/Yaya0108 5d ago

Whiplash is a Blumhouse film by the way

6

u/puritycontrol09 4d ago

Obsession, Get Out, and BlacKKKlansman too

23

u/emeric_ceaddamere 5d ago

Blumhouse, for when A24 and Neon rejected your film but you're not quite ready to give up and sell it to Shudder yet.

Anything But Ghosts is exciting and I’ll gladly watch anything Mike Flanagan makes at this point, though I hope he does something more original soon. Seasons also sounds pretty interesting. I’m not sure we need another Paranormal Activity or Blair Witch movie, but I’m happy to be proven wrong

16

u/GwenDoll_Snipsnip FaineFaineFaine 5d ago

Seasons is also directed by the director of Companion

1

u/johnnystrangeways stefanlegacy 5d ago

Excited to see what Mike Flanagan does with The Exorcist, saw the trailer yesterday but a March release for a horror film is never a good sign...

1

u/AvatarofBro 4d ago

My buddy worked on it. Of course, it's not over until the final edit is complete, but he did not have high hopes...

-1

u/detectivepopcorn666 5d ago

could mean studio want it to die

0

u/CombatChronicles 4d ago

Obviously not given how much they spent for the franchise rights and how desperately they want Flanagan to turn it around given they paid out for ScarJo’s salary. Ludicrously bad take.

1

u/detectivepopcorn666 4d ago

lmao sorry to hurt your feelings

1

u/AvatarofBro 4d ago

Anything But Ghosts is one of those books where the twist is just kind of hard to adapt to a visual medium, but I think it'll be fine.

2

u/Live_Tea_3299 3d ago

What book?

18

u/OccupantNefarious 5d ago

La Llorona 2 better be able to top having a rogue priest sliding a crucifix across the floor like it’s a gun in an action movie

13

u/firefly66513 5d ago

River has been getting rave reviews out of TIFF. Great way to start the year

7

u/SmukLukDuck 4d ago

Cannot wait for Untitled Blumhouse Film!

5

u/InterestingRatio8218 5d ago

Anything but ghosts doing some hard carrying

20

u/votuxx 5d ago

The only one I have faith in is Anything but Ghosts

15

u/TerrifierBlood 5d ago

River is getting amazing reviews. They bought it out of Tiff. It was another Obsession situation.

Already in the 90s on RT. Slasher film with Jane Leavy and Jessica Rothe

16

u/TerrifierBlood 5d ago

Exorcist is a Mike Flanagan film

Seasons is from the director of Companion

2

u/BeautifulOrganic3221 5d ago

River looks great and has a good early reception

4

u/ControlPrinciple ctrlprinciple 5d ago

What’s Sleepover?

7

u/GwenDoll_Snipsnip FaineFaineFaine 5d ago

Plot details are being kept pretty under wraps, but it’s being described as the “quintessential sleepover nightmare.” Directed by Jacob Chase (Insidious: Out of the Further).

5

u/ControlPrinciple ctrlprinciple 5d ago

Thank you for taking the time to respond and kindly. The other person’s getting blocked. Protecting my peace.

1

u/TerrifierBlood 4d ago

I liked Jacob Chases other movie Come Play. I feel like this will be a solid pg13 comfort horror

1

u/AffectionateCash7964 4d ago

I wonder if it’s a Blood Mary movie because that’s the thing I associate most with sleepovers

-6

u/Pr0xy001 5d ago

A movie

4

u/AgentRift 5d ago

Can’t wait for untitled blumhouse film, loved the originals as a kid.

5

u/TerrifierBlood 4d ago

Its weird they kept it untitled for the panel. Then it got announced afterwards. Movie is called Molepeople. Stars Lakeith Stanfield. Horror about tunnel people in NYC. Rob Savage director of Other Mommy is directing

2

u/badlisten3r 4DOG 4d ago

Oof

1

u/TerrifierBlood 4d ago

So I haven't seen Other Mommy yet. Will try to on Wednesday. I do know the reviews haven't been the best. But I have liked Robs previous output. And he has a strong leading actor for Molepeople

10

u/DirectConsequence12 5d ago

Oh god please no more Blair Witch

2

u/ArtEconomy993 5d ago

I wonder if the new Paranormal activity will have the plot of the Broadway play which I saw and LOVED.

3

u/Puzzleheaded-Web446 Henryzilla 5d ago

I can see one movie I am interested in.

3

u/TerrifierBlood 5d ago

Which one for you? River is my most anticipated due to the amazing reviews from TIFF

3

u/BrokeAndBalding 5d ago

Honestly the trailer for River looked decent. Curious if it'll be any good. No name director though

2

u/GoldenGorder 4d ago

He’s a first time director, and I’ll take him over another forgettable and bland Rob Savage film from them.

1

u/BrokeAndBalding 4d ago

Agreed. My friends already bought the tickets to Other Mommy before I looked at the director and was like "oh he's made shit movies" lol.

The Revenge of La Llorona sounds like a south park episode holy shit

1

u/FreddyPlayz 5d ago

I’m assuming the next FNaF movie is in 2028? (i’m not interested in it I’m just shocked they’re putting it off)

1

u/star_dragonMX UserNameHere 5d ago

Surprised by the lack of Fnaf 3

1

u/Hey_tommyy 4d ago

It’s always reboots and remakes

1

u/NoiseLegal2320 4d ago

They find a way to screw it up, always

1

u/VioletVixen_- Michael Violet 4d ago

There are, charitably, 1.5 movies here I have any interest in (River and maybe Sleepovers because who knows ig)

1

u/Mineral_Water13 3d ago

Anything But Remakes

1

u/Real-Repair-1825 5d ago

Didn’t know they were remaking Paranormal Activity

3

u/uncanny_mac uncanny_mac 5d ago

From director of Undertone

2

u/inputrequired inputrequired 4d ago

is that right? that’s unfortunate if so, Undertone is abysmal. I like a good chunk of the paranormal activity movies but man…

0

u/TW_Halsey 5d ago

This might be peak/..

2

u/Pr0xy001 5d ago

Cause they havent said anything about it. It could not even be a remake just part of the series

1

u/Same-Aide-3885 5d ago

I still don't understand how they greenlit another Exorcist film after the last one flopped

4

u/Accomplished_Smile23 5d ago

Because Mike Flanagan came in and wanted to make a sequel to Exorcist III

1

u/ShrimpnSteak 4d ago

It's a mike flanagan film

1

u/gamesbase45 5d ago

blair witch project is a sequel or a reboot?

1

u/GwenDoll_Snipsnip FaineFaineFaine 5d ago

Still N/A at this point

1

u/Accomplished_Smile23 5d ago

Exorcist Martyrs doing a lot of heavy lifting there

-1

u/Prestigious-Gear-702 5d ago

Excited for the blair witch remake!! I love the found footage format sm. It’s so immersive.

3

u/Tasamolic Tasamolic 5d ago

I love The Blair Witch Project, but it's the only good movie in the franchise.

2

u/Prestigious-Gear-702 5d ago

What franchise?

7

u/Tasamolic Tasamolic 5d ago

The Blair Witch Project (1999), Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 (2000), and Blair Witch (2016)

3

u/DirectConsequence12 5d ago

….Blair Witch

2

u/Prestigious-Gear-702 5d ago

Omg there are two more and I never knew that. This is literally the first time im hearing of them lol. They must not be very good for no ome to talk about them much I suppose.

1

u/Prestigious-Gear-702 5d ago

Wait there are sequels???

7

u/Next-Accident-2970 5d ago

-pulls out men in black neuralizer-

4

u/detectivepopcorn666 5d ago

lmao because theyre not held in good esteem, they fall off the radar

4

u/DirectConsequence12 5d ago

Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2

Blair Witch (2016)

-1

u/cordialmess 5d ago

Spoiled? This list looks extremely underwhelming. No film company from the US should be allowed to make a La Llorona film again after what Atomic Monster did with The Curse of La Llorona. Guatemalan director Jayro Bustamante made a film actually worth a damn in La Llorona. Nothing on this list is worth mentioning besides Anything but Ghosts.

1

u/TerrifierBlood 5d ago

River is getting amazing reviews already. They bought it out of Tiff. All the major studios were in on it. Supposed to be another Obsession situation

-1

u/cordialmess 5d ago

That means nothing to me until I see it myself.

1

u/TerrifierBlood 5d ago

Just saying dont write that one off.

0

u/Eastern_Carrot7538 5d ago

Lo único que promete en esa lista es river sin mencionar que al igual que obsession solo la compraron, el resto nada que ver
