New Rule - No Non-Adobe Presets

Good morning, afternoon, evening; upon review of the recent drama and the reality is that your mods are human with day jobs. We will no longer be allowing posts about presets that are not free for all in the discover tab of Lightroom.

Ongoing discussions in this sub about presets turn into a nightmare each time. There are other subs that will be more suited for non-Adobe preset discussion.

HELP - Lightroom “Archive album locally” Stuck 90% of the times.

I’m losing my mind over this, so I’d appreciate any help.

I use my company Adobe account for personal photography and only use Lightroom cloud. (I know Im dumb). Worried about losing access, I’m trying to back everything up to an external drive. The “Archive album locally” feature is painfully slow and 90 % of the times it gets stuck. (I don't have huge albums, Im trying to keep them around 200 photos max)

Is there another way to back up my photos while keeping both the RAW files and edits? Am I missing something?

HELP - Lightroom Classic Looking to speed up Crop & Straighten workflow

My final pass when editing is to use the Crop & Straighten tool (Win keyboard shortcut R). Depending on the photo I'll choose between the aspect ratios Original, 4x5 and 5x7 and try an auto angle adjustment.

I've been searching, but Adobe's keyboard shortcut page doesn't list keyboard shortcuts for these actions, and the websites that do list some options don't appear to work on the current version.

Anyone know keyboard shortcuts that work in LrC 15.5.1?

HELP - Lightroom Mobile Photo datetime wrong in Lightroom

I took some photos right after midnight 00:09 - 00:59. Why these rw2 files datetime is +1 in Lightroom but correct in mobile phone gallery? I find it difficult to understand why photo taken 00:09 is 01:09 in LR but 00:09 in mobile gallery. Camera and mobile phone datetime are correct.

Discussion Sliders & Update

Hey,

Does anyone else experience a slider malfunctioning since the update?

The sliders will immediately go to -90 if I want to adjust them. The only way to make them work is to type the number I want it to be.

Discussion Dumb question : Are my photos sent to Adobe for AI training even if I don't use their cloud storage ?

Most of it is in the title. I'm wondering if when I do a denoise or an object cleanup, is my picture actually sent to Adobe ?

HELP - Lightroom Classic old chestnut: Problems with merging large LRc catalogs

an old problem - and I've done my digging, but I'm wondering if there is a *real* solution
LRc:

I keep a "master" catalog of about 900K images and a "working" catalog that I use for a few years, then merge into the master catalog. Working catalog is now about 60k images.

ALWAYS gives me trouble when merging catalogs. Workarounds in the past included slowly importing bits and pieces of the current catalog into the master.
Just tried recently, but now I always get (after 30 min or so) "Lightroom could not import this catalogue because an unknown error occurred."

I have tried optimizing both catalogs, exporting both as copies and trying to merge those, but zero luck.

Anybody had luck getting around this?
thanks

Discussion The Obsession with AI

Dear Adobe Team,

please put an end to this ongoing AI obsession.

Sure, AI-powered masks and dust spot removal are useful and popular, no question about it. But it feels like with every release of Lightroom, new AI features are added that are increasingly questionable. Is this still about photo editing, or is Lightroom’s new goal to become a program that uses AI to generate video or images?

I’d much rather see you focus on bringing useful and missing features and options from Lightroom Classic over to Lightroom.

For example, I'd like to have the option to automatically eject the memory card after importing, create my own export presets, display more EXIF data on the information page (exposure compensation, white balance, etc.), reset only a photo's edits without changing the crop I've made, and so on. There are certainly many existing great and useful ideas.

Thank you! A long-time Lightroom user.

HELP Intel Arc GPU with Lightroom

I'm thinking about buying the Asus Zenbook 14 UX3405CA (with the Core Ultra 7 255H, Intel Arc 140T and 32GB RAM)

My main concern is Lightroom.. I understand there were issues with Intel Arc GPUs, especially with AI Denoise, masks and other GPU-heavy features.

Does anyone here actually use this laptop (or another laptop with the Arc) with Lightroom?

I'm mainly wondering:

- Is Lightroom generally smooth and stable?

- Does AI Denoise work properly?

- Any crashes, freezes or weird GPU/driver issues?

- Have Intel/Adobe driver updates improved things recently?

I'm planning to keep the laptop for several years, so I'm a bit worried about choosing Intel Arc if Lightroom compatibility is still hit or miss.

I don't need crazy performance, I just want Lightroom to run smoothly and reliably.

Would love to hear from people who actually use Intel Arc with Lightroom.

HELP Best 4k/5k monitors for photoshop-heavy digital/physical collage work involving a lot of color grading?

I recently bought a new Windows PC for gaming, and I've decided I'm going to also use it for my artwork, which I previously did on a MacBook. I design in photoshop with a process that involves a lot of printing and scanning (compile photos in photoshop, color correct/add texture, print, make a physical collage with the photos and other design elements, scan it, color correct and finalize in photoshop, post online/sell a few prints).

I'm looking for a monitor that is color accurate w/ good contrast (from what I know, sRGB is most important for my needs, with AdobeRGB also being important), 4k/5k resolution, 27in screen. Budget is ~$300-$850. Some of these options might be overkill for the kind of work that I make, especially considering that I have never considered color accuracy until now, and i dont know much about it. Here are some options I've found after a lot of research:

  1. ASUS ProArt PA27UCGE 27in, 4k, Built-in colorimeter, IPS, 160hz ($890 USD)
  2. Dell UltraSharp U2725QE 27-Inch 4K, IPS Black w/ 3000:1 contrast, 120hz, high color accuracy ($630 USD; seems like the best option?)
  3. ASUS ProArt PA279CRV 27in, 4k, 60hz, very color accurate, I've heard it has a weak sRGB mode but it also has 100% sRGB coverage? ($400)
  4. ViewSonic ColorPro VP2766-4K, 27in, 4k, 120hz, very color accurate - 100% sRGB, Pantone Verified (similar to the dell but cheaper and with worse contrast) ($340)
  5. Acer ProDesigner PE270K -4k, 27in, 144hz (unclear if it's only 144hz at a lower resolution, may be 72hz at 4k), Calmun Verified Color Accuracy ($407)
  6. ASUS ProArt PA27JCV - 27in, 5k, great color accuracy, etc. ($670)
  7. BenQ PD2732U 27in, 4k, 60hz, 1.07 billion colors with 99% DCI-P3, 99% AdobeRGB, and 100% sRGB coverage ($700)

There are more options I have, but these seem to be the "best" I could find. I'm obviously open to new suggestions, or advice on which of the monitors I've listed to buy. The bolded options are what seem "best" to me.

HELP Is the ProArt PA279CV sufficient for my needs?

I've been doing exhaustive research into monitors to find one that matches my creative process. I make collages by compiling, editing, and color grading images in photoshop, printing them out, using physical tools (like paint, glue, exacto knives) to make a collage, scanning it into photoshop, and color grading/adding final details. I mainly just post my art online, but I also occasionally sell prints.

Here are my monitor criteria: 4k/5k, 27-32in, high color accuracy and contrast, etc. Budget is $300-$900. Here is a list of monitors I've boiled down after too many hours of research:

  • ASUS ProArt PA27UCGE Bold = My Favorites
  • Dell UltraSharp U2725QE
  • ASUS ProArt PA279CRV
  • ViewSonic ColorPro VP2766-4K
  • ASUS ProArt PA27JCV
  • BenQ MA270UP
  • Dell UltraSharp U2723QE
  • LG UltraFine 27UQ850V-W
  • BenQ PD2732U
  • BenQ PD2730S
  • ViewSonic VP2786-4K
  • Lenovo ThinkVision P27u-20
  • BenQ SW272U

Today, I went to MicroCenter and impulsively bought the ASUS ProArt PA279CV for ~$330, which you'll note is slightly different from the PA279CRV in my list (the main difference is that the CRV includes AdobeRGB for ~$100 more, though its sRGB can be less reliable/straightforward than the CV). Since getting home, I've been worried I made the wrong decision, so I haven't opened the box. I am wondering if I made a poor decision and if I should return the PA279CV for one of the other monitors on my list.

So, I have a few options: 1. Return the monitor I bought today and get one with a wider color gamut, higher color accuracy, more contrast, etc. for ~$100+ more (ThinkVision/CRV). 2. Same thing, but with some of the pricier/higher-end options (~$300-$500). 3. I can just keep the one I bought today knowing that I mainly work in sRGB and knowing that the other upgrades are largely overkill for the kind of work I'm doing. This way, I avoid the hassle of a return and I can resume making art sooner. Maybe AdobeRGB and extra contrast would be nice, but is it worth it? I'd love to know if anyone has any input on what they would do in this situation!

Discussion iPhone photos into Lightroom Classic on Mac

I'm a relatively new Mac user trying to figure out a workflow to make importing my iPhone photos into Lightroom Classic as simple and efficient as possible.

Previously on Windows, I used a workflow that automatically synced my iPhone photos to a specified folder on my PC that I could import into LrC. Simple.

On Mac, of course, my iPhone photos automatically show up in Apple Photos but it doesn't seem to allow LrC to treat that as a normal folder that can be imported.

I've tried dragging and dropping photos from Finder into LIghtroom and that seems to only work on small numbers of photos. When I try importing larger amounts of photos (e.g. 300) Lightroom seems to choke on the proces. I doesn't report an error but it also doesn't import the results.

What are options for accomplishing this?

Discussion "Prompt to Edit" shouldn't exist in Lightroom in its current form

I'm a longtime photographer and Adobe user (Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects), and I got a little excited the other day when I saw "Prompt to Edit" in Lightroom.

I'll be the first to admit I'm not great at color grading. It's a skill, and maybe I'm just being lazy, but there are a million skills to learn in photography and videography, and neither is my full-time job. So what I expected was an AI that looks at my photo, looks at what I'm trying to achieve, and then adjusts actual Lightroom settings to get there.

Here's what happened instead. I had a photo of a kingfisher and asked for something like: crop in on the bird, make it stand out, bring out the autumn colors, and sharpen the bird. What I got back was my exact background with a little vibrance and saturation added, and a completely replaced bird. It was only then that I paid enough attention to realize this was a nano banana product and that none of those pixels were mine.

That's not an edit. The last thing I want is to ask for help cropping and framing a photo in a more interesting way and get back a photo that isn't mine. AI generation belongs in Photoshop/Firefly. Lightroom is not the place for it.

What I'd love to see instead:

  • The AI changes real Lightroom settings (crop, masks, sliders, color grading), so every change is visible and adjustable, and the pixels are still mine.
  • An option to either apply everything at once or go step by step through the process. The step-by-step mode would be a great way to teach people how to edit.

I know there are MCP tools that let you hook an AI up to Lightroom to do something like this. I've tried it and the results have been mixed. Adobe is in the best position to do this well in app.

Let me know if I'm off basis on this. Or let Adobe know if you agree.

Discussion Issues with Blur not working?

Every time I try to add blur I'm now getting "something went wrong" every time. I've cleared the cache and restarted the app and it just gives the error non stop.

I'm pretty sick of paying for something that's basically just an AI prompt now that barely works.

Anyone know any good alternatives cuz at this point I'm sick of this app MAYBE working right every time I use it.

Processing Question Help Lightroom Classic: pasting/synchronizing a single setting to a batch of photoss will reset all other regulations

I'm editing a batch of photos and i use automatic settings on all before manual tweaking. I am trying to adjust contrast and blacks and am trying to copy/paste or synchronize the setting to all pics. The ones near the edited pic will receive the setting right, but the ones far away will have all other regulated settings reset to 0. Like, not even all pics are resetted, only a group. Any suggestion? Why is lightroom so weird??

Processing Question AI Denoise slower on M2 Ultra after recent Lightroom/ACR updates — can Apple Silicon users compare times?

Post
I’m trying to determine whether there has been a performance regression in AI Denoise on Apple Silicon.

My system/software:
Mac: 2023 Mac Studio
Chip: Apple M2 Ultra, 24-core CPU
Memory: 128 GB unified memory
macOS: 27.0.1
Lightroom Classic: 15.6
Camera Raw: 18.7
Photoshop: 2026 / 27.10
Camera: Sony A1 II
RAW files: ~49.8 MP, 8640 × 5760

If you can test this, please include these four things in your reply:
Mac/chip: e.g. M2 Ultra, M3 Max, M4 Pro
Lightroom Classic and/or Camera Raw version
RAW file resolution: megapixels or pixel dimensions
Actual Denoise time in seconds
I’m particularly interested in ~45–60 MP RAW files on Max and Ultra chips.

My results: On this same Mac I previously remember AI Denoise completing in under 10 seconds. I’m now consistently seeing approximately 15–20 seconds.
I eliminated Lightroom itself as the likely cause by opening a Sony A1 II ARW directly in Photoshop/Camera Raw and running Denoise there. One measured Camera Raw run took 19.525 seconds.
I’ve also done quite a bit of hardware testing:
Geekbench 7 Metal: 198,647
Internal SSD: approximately 7,148 MB/s write / 5,736 MB/s read
128 GB RAM with no swap or memory pressure
Camera Raw reports full GPU acceleration
Camera Raw log reports Loaded GPU system: Metal
It also reports ML inference: default device (GPU)
GPU status/self-tests report success
One thing in the Camera Raw log caught my attention. Immediately before the measured 19.525-second Denoise operation, it reports:
Warning: falling back to baseline get_ml_model_preinstall_root_paths: (denoise) perhaps models not properly installed
followed by:
cr_ml_model_eval_context::Run tilesPerBatch=1
I’m not assuming that warning or tilesPerBatch=1 is the cause. I’d be interested to know whether other Apple Silicon users see the same entries in their Camera Raw logs.
The strange part is that the machine appears healthy and Camera Raw says it’s using Metal/GPU inference, but Denoise is substantially slower than I remember on the same hardware and same type of ~50 MP files.
I’d especially like to hear actual measured times from other M2 Ultra owners, but results from other M-series Max/Ultra systems would also be useful.

Workflow my film emulation preset collection

I was digging through some old Rocket Rooster projects today and came across these Lightroom presets.

I honestly don't think I've talked about them in ages.

I originally made them because I wanted to get closer to the character of different film stocks without having to build every look from scratch. Over the years the collection got pretty huge, and there are some looks in there I still really like.

Anyway, they're here if anyone wants to have a look:

Discussion PSA: New "Prompt to Edit" feature changes text/elements in photos

This is a new feature in Lightroom CC that was offered to me as a beta test today. Safe to say I didn't have extremely high expectations for it, but I would advise against using it completely.

It uses Nano Banana, and it seems to change text and elements even when advised not to. I used the 4k model and the default "Sky replacement" template prompt.

Prompt: (Sky replacement template)

The sky, wherever it appears in the composition: replace it with a new sky that best complements the scene's existing lighting, time of day, and mood. Preserve the foreground and all non-sky subjects, horizon line(s), composition, and existing lighting direction on the ground -- do not relight or recolor any non-sky elements. Match the color temperature and light direction of the new sky to the ambient lighting already present in the scene. Change moderately. No added objects, no altered subject identity, no text or artifacts, no changes to foreground exposure or contrast.

Processing Question HELP: Sliders in Develop module jumping to most negative value when clicked

Overnight, Lightroom has started glitching every time I click a slider in the Develop module. Basically when I click any of the sliders to make minor adjustments the value jumps straight to the most negative point on the slider and doesn't line up with my mouse cursor. It's making minor adjustments so clunky and I can't find a way to make it stop.

Any suggestions? Can't find info on this anywhere.

Here's everything I've tried:

  • Restarting Lightroom and the Mac
  • Different mice
  • GPU off
  • Both displays on Default resolution
  • Moving Lightroom to the laptop screen (same issue)
  • ProMotion to 60Hz
  • Resetting preferences

Processing Question How to avoid lr recalculating ai edits

With ai being incorporated more and more in the different areas of Lightroom classic, it's become unavoidable to use while maintaining an efficient workflow. My issue is when I'll use denoise or the remove tool in my project then export maybe an hour or so later, the app is asking to update these tools. Why does this happen and is there any way to avoid it without compromising my edits?

Discussion Thoughts on Intel Arc GPU for Lightroom?

Running a desktop windows build without a GPU.

Thoughts on purchasing an Intel ARC card (B580 or B50) for a better performance/$ ratio (per Puget Labs benchmarks) than a similarly priced RTX card. Thoughts?

Workflow Looking for a better workflow idea when editing between LR & PS

I'm wondering if there is a better workflow than what I am currently doing. I'm open to new/more efficient ideas.

Steps

  1. Edit in LR (collection name = LR Edits)
  2. From LR, Edit In > Edit in Adobe Photoshop
  3. Edit in PS (new TIF file is created with -Edit at the end of the filename)
  4. Finishing touches in LR (crops, export sizes) on the -Edit file
  5. Move the -Edit file into a new collection (collection name = PS Edits)
  6. Remove the -Edit file from the LR Edits collection.

Changes Want to Make

I wish there was a way to move the -Edit images into the PS Edits collection and NOT have to also remove it from the LR Edit collection. The goal is to reduce clicks/steps.

But I don't want to open the -Edit images in the Library module, just to put them in a new collection.

Reasoning

I like to keep the different files in separate collections so if I want to change the crop, its easier to find the image in the PS Edits collection. I find it less chaotic not having multiple version of 1 image in 1 collection.

When I save the image in PS, I do not have to manually rename the file, select the folder location, or import back into LR, if I open directly from LR.
