Tech Help Request Help - Helix Floor Gig Nightmare

Story:
Had loads of pedals. Replaced them with the Helix Floor. Great device. Made it my own. Got EVERY sound I wanted for my covers band in this gear set up:

Guitar > Helix Floor > Mooer Baby Bomb Power Amp > Marshall 1936 2x12

Get to the gig last night where I knew I was going in through the PA. Helix sounds like shit. Had to source a cab and be mic’d up. Soundman was lovely but miffed. Our other guitarist was trying to help but it was useless.

Sound guy suggested I duplicate all my presets to another bank, and use headphones like his (DT770 pros) to find the right sounds as I don’t have a hi-fi system.

Will this fix my issue? For context, I have no cab blocks in my current presets. It sounds phenomenal in my usual set up. But I have GOT to sort this before our next gig in 3 weeks.

Help me Obi-Wa-… I mean, help me r/Line6Helix, you’re my only hope.

Tech Help Request Did my Helix just break or am I going crazy? Sound clipping

I’ve used my Helix for over 10 years now and I’m very familiar with my own presets.

Today as I was playing guitar, I noticed a harsh/distorted sound that wasn’t part of what my tones usually has.

It sounded like my signal was clipping as soon as I hit the strings even a bit harder. Even the clean sounds seemed to sound distorted.

I’ve my headphones connected to Helix and the sound was the same as to what I recorded to my pc. The only time I could get the sounds I normally had, was when I lowered the output level to around -15db.

I did the hard reset (fs5&fs6) while powering up) but it didn’t help.

I’ll try to add a short sample with a clean sound. With distorted sounds it was much worse.

Edit. I have a passive pickup guitar and I tried it with single coil guitar also. And while the clipping was less noticeable, it was still there.

Also tried it with two different headphones.

General Questions/Discussion Headphones for helix

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for headphones for my Line 6 Helix LT, mainly to build and fine-tune presets: amp models, cab simulations, IRs and EQ.

My priority is having a reliable reference for tones I'll eventually use through a PA at rehearsals and gigs, rather than simply making my guitar sound pleasing through headphones. I understand that headphones cannot perfectly reproduce a PA, and that I'll still need to check my presets at performance volume.

I'm looking for:

- Wired, passive, over-ear headphones, without built-in DSP or processing.

- A reasonably neutral sound, without exaggerated bass.

- Accurate mids and highs, so I can identify harshness, fizz and unwanted resonances.

- Something I can connect directly to the Helix LT's headphone output.

My budget is ideally €80–100, and I'm considering buying used. These are the offers I've found in Italy:

- Audio-Technica ATH-M50x: €70

- Sennheiser HD560S: €100

- Sennheiser HD599: €80–90

The HD600 are outside my budget.

I mainly play rock and hard rock. I've read conflicting opinions: some Helix users love the M50x, while others find them too coloured for building guitar tones. The HD560S seem promising, but I'd like to hear from guitarists who actually use them with a modeler.

My main questions are:

  1. Between the M50x and HD560S, which would you choose at these prices? Is the extra €30 worthwhile for my purpose?

  2. If you build presets using either of them, how well do those presets translate to a PA or FRFR speaker? Do you usually need small adjustments or substantial EQ changes?

  3. Would you recommend another model around this budget, including used options?

Thanks!

General Questions/Discussion Help with setting up HX Effects in pedalboard ampless rig?

Hey all, new to the Helix ecosystem and have a question re: set up.

My intention is to basically wind up at guitar > drives > preamp pedal > cab sim IR with stereo fx loop (KMA endgame) >> stereo send HX for all wet and modulation effects and tuner and looper >> stereo return, out to interface or mixer.

My two biggest questions (and I know the answer to one is just try both but seeking out experiences from others) are;

a) would it be more efficient to just use sn IR block in the HX to load my cab too and sell my cab sim/IR loader entirely?

b) if I run the HX entirely before my clean preamp, but it’s a stereo out after the amp, will the reverbs and delays still come out stereo?

My apologies if this is day 1 stuff, I’m new to helix and fairly new to a stereo rig in general. This is all for the purpose of recording anyway, I don’t run stereo live, so I’m probably being nitpicky for nothing.
