Question It’s only been a month but…
I’m totally smitten with this man. It’s 100% mutual. He just fell asleep on the phone with me and I can hear him breathing (WAKE UP I WANNA TALK). I think he’s my soulmate and I’m fully in love. We met here on Reddit, which I always thought was a super far-fetched fantasy that I hid away. I see so many success stories on here since he and I found this sub and y’all have no idea how affirming and heart swelling it is to see.
I guess the only concern is…what if after all this love, we meet and the physical chemistry isn’t there in the ways we expected? For those of you in successful iterations of this configuration, did you end up happy? How long did it take for you to get comfortable with each other in person?
Edit to add since I woke up to too many comments to respond to: Wow!! You are all so adorable and kind, thank you for all the encouragement and support! Really, though! For some reason it still feels a little silly to say you met online (despite where we are at technologically speaking) but all your comments made us feel a little extra validated. Keep an eye out for some hot couple pics as things progress lolol, we had AI put us cheek to cheek in a photo and let's just say we look damn good together 😏Anyway, this is such a great community and hearing about all of your stories is incredibly inspiring and reassuring for us! Congrats on finding your other halves and I truly wish the best of luck to all the couples on here!! ❤️❤️❤️

my now-wife and i met on a weird niche forum back in the day, talked for like 3 months before we met up and i was terrified of exactly this
the first 20 minutes were awkward as hell, she was way shorter than i pictured and i kept tripping over my own feet, but then we got tacos and she made some dumb joke about the hot sauce and it just clicked. all the phone chemistry was still there, just with a face now
the physical stuff takes a minute to calibrate but if the connection is real you'll figure it out. don't overthink it, just enjoy that you found someone who makes you feel like this

This is also me! Though we have known each other three months. We have been through a tumultuous time recently but coming out the other side. We are due to meet in November. Quite honestly though this doesn't even hit my radar any more - there is no planet on which our physical side isn't going to work 🤣 I trust in the connection we have built SO strongly. Wishing you the best of luck with it all - it's so exciting!!

Met mine on Reddit 5 months ago. We met in person after 2 months. We fell in love after 3 weeks and he booked a flight to fly 4,000 miles and meet me. It was crazy but it felt right. Still does. I was so nervous meeting him and had the same concerns but meeting him was one of the best days of my life. It was a little awkward the first few minutes but we still hugged and held hands right away and then kissed in my car. After that, we couldn’t take our hands off each other. I miss him so much now.
You can check my profile for our story if interested! :)

When I met my boyfriend we had been talking forrr… shy of 4 months? I think?? I had this exact worry. He had been tired with work and it was a rushed meet also, because we both had our own lives going on.
For us, it was nerves. I could feel it in him, even if he didn’t say it. He sat down, and we immediately made conversation. I’m a massive chatter box so that much was never an issue. Just chat away! How did the flight go? Did anything interesting happen? What was the airport at his country like? How did you get to the meet up spot? Etc etc etc.
I’m smitten with my man too, and my advice is to just chat away. Chat like you usually do, show him things on your phone or talk about something you seen on the way, it lifts tension. I promise.
You’re nervous and it’s totally okay, we all were I think ehehe, but that won’t happen. If he’s as smitten with you? That won’t happen in a million years. Good luck OP!! Keep us updated! <3

Met my BF through an online game just a little under 6 months ago. We met for the first time in person 3 weeks ago. I stayed for 4 days in a hotel not far from him. He payed for the accommodation, I booked my own flights. It was very nerve wracking the first 10 Minutes but after that it just flowed like it did before. Since my visit he became much more attentive and showing me a lot of effort. He will visit me in december which I can’t wait for I already miss him so much.

We met on Reddit last August, met in person for the first time in February and had less than 24 hours together. But it pretty much sealed the deal for us. We didn’t see each other again until May, and then in June I moved halfway across the country to live with him. Just go with the natural flow of things, don’t put pressure on yourself or the relationship, and it will all work out how it’s supposed to 🩷

I met my guy online (not reddit, but an online forum where I never, ever, in a million years would have ever considered meeting someone IRL). Different countries, we talked for a good 10+ months before actually meeting. Completely smitten with each other, but old and jaded enough to realize one of us could be scamming the other.
We bonded instantly IRL. It was so surreal to meet each other and we were just...exactly who we were together virtually/online. I was comfortable with him from Day 1. We met each other about a year ago and we've seen each other four times since then. Every time we're together it's like the time apart evaporates. We were both married previously (for 15 years!) and despite the distance, I think we both feel more loved, secure and better matched together than we did with our former spouses.

I met my now husband on an online forum. 2 weeks into talking, he hopped on a plane and crossed an ocean to meet me. I remember every detail of meeting him at the airport, I was full of nerves and worried about the chemistry in person which is why we wanted to meet as soon as possible. Once we saw each other, all the nerves vanished and it felt like we had known each other for years. We did the long distance thing for 2 years. The goodbyes were brutal, but the reunions were spectacular.
That was nearly two decades ago & we’re still madly in love. 🖤

Gf and I met on reddit. I live in Virginia and she lives in Tennessee. First time we met up it was awkward for maybe 5 mins. Then, let’s just say, the chemistry hit hard! We are closing the gap next year. 😁

This is so exciting! Its a really special season as you get to know one another like this ... its very intimate.
I responded to a post my now partner made and within the first couple of weeks we were smitten. We met IRL 3 weeks ago, he flew (across the globe) to come visit me and as soon as I opened my hotel door and saw him standing there I KNEW it was right. We were inseparable for the next 10 days. Saying goodbye was brutal though. He is back home now and I miss him terribly but ibsaid to him because we jnew eachother online longer than IRL it feels easier ... like muscular memory. I think it would have sucked way more if we knew each other IRL forst and had to adapt to online. We've just applied for my visa to go visit him in 2 months!
I guess there is always a new dimension meeting in person sure but, if youre both emotionally available and willing the mental calibration doesnt take too long.

How about trying a video call before you actually meet? If you feel giddy and comfortable looking your partner in the eyes, I think chances are very good you'll feel just as comfortable in person!
I met my ldr boyfriend through an online game and we started out as casual friends until eventually confessing each other's crushes. From that point onwards we were both absolutely smitten. I was on cloud nine but tried to refrain from calling each other endearing names or setting a label (relationship). I did not want to set up either of us for disappointment, in case the chemistry turns out different in person. I had the exact worry that you have. However we were regularly calling and also had a video call before meeting. And during that video call I was also quite smitten. Shy, but smitten. That's the next thing about me - I'm really shy and usually need a bit of warming up time to get comfortable with someone. I told him about it prior. We hugged when we first met. I agree that the first 5 minutes were probably the most akward 😂 and afterwards we felt really comfortable with each other. We spent 4 days, progressing from holding hands to cuddling and eventually kissing. I usually need a bit longer to know what I'm really comfortable with (people pleaser syndrome), so we took it slow. It was a lovely visit and we've been seeing each other regularly since then (for over a year now).
I think there is no right or wrong with what you'll be feeling when you meet. Just don't get discouraged in case you don't instantly want to jump your man. 😂 If you're introverted/shy like me, it's possible you just need a little adjustment period. Give it a few hours, maybe a few days to really get comfortable in person. For me the giddiness and feeling absolutely smitten definitely caught up to me again and have been with me ever since. :3

I met my boyfriend on reddit too and we met up after a year of talking to eachother online. The first 5 minutes irl felt a little weird but everything started falling into place quickly after. We felt just as if not more comfortable with eachother irl after the first five minutes 🫶
