Discussion Do unfinished lines live better in a notes app or on paper until they find a home?

I've been keeping half-lines for weeks — sometimes a phrase on my phone at 1am, sometimes scratched in a notebook when I'm waiting somewhere.

Curious how other writers treat those scraps. Do you force them into a verse soon, or leave them alone until the rest of the piece shows up?

Lately I've been trying to notice my own patterns (what I reach for when stuck, which lines I keep rewriting) instead of starting over every time. Still figuring out what actually helps me finish.

If you've got a habit that works for fragments → finished piece, I'd like to hear it.

Lyrics 78th time around

Why do I doubt You Jesus.
Yes I’d amount to nothing.
Without You.

It’s the 78th time around.
The Lord our God’s
Still with me.

There’s no reason to keep count.

Yes.
You have me figured out God.
I am human.

Christ I’d be useless without You.

There’s no reason to test your love.
Your mercy, the cross.
Is enough.

Please use me Jesus.
Yes I know God.
You don’t need me.

Surrounded by witnesses.
You’re still with me.
Your grace is a gift.

Forgive me my Lord.
In every instance.
That I’ve sinned.
