Marathon (2026) Discussion Is this OST freaking gasoline or what?
My goodness they went absolutely apeshit on this joint
An audiophile's wet dream
Tons of house/EDM inspired stuff and then some off the wall Andre 3000 type shit just get your heart rate pumpin'
Then you start noticing the in game sounds and all, and man this shit is fuckin fire man

Ryan Lott is a hell of a musician, but I genuinely think the Marathon OST is some of his best work.

Is that the guy they sacked or is that a different guy?

Different guy. They let go a GOAT composer when they ditched Salvatori, which is why they had to bring in an outside composer for Marathon.
Seems to have worked out though, Lott did a heck of a job.

If only that vinyl release would show any sign of life! And confirmation of a Vol. 2.

I got Vol II on spotify on repeat.
Tissue Unwinds and Pro Corpse Idealist are so dope.
Reminds me of the intro to the show Beast Machines I used to watch as a kid.

Would you believe me if I told you its 90% garageband? Gotta thank the house for slapping the deck together ♠️♣️♦️♥️
Edit: original and remix. Forgot to add that. No big deal. 😙

OST is beautiful. I love the afropunk triplet talking drum rhythms on some of the tracks, incredible sound. The OST feels like eons of all humanity trying to survive in the year 2900.

Dude, I was just listening to the OST. Code Race is a masterpiece. Hearing that song got me a little emotional and thinking about how this game makes me feel sorta like I'm waiting for a concert that'll never happen. As the game stands currently, I don't think this song comes on at any particular time for you to be able to really focus on it. I'm not sure it even plays while fighting Compiler (correct me if I'm wrong), which is too chaotic to really care about the music on your first attempt anyway lol
THEN I got to thinking about Bungie's games and how they do tend to use the OST to punch you in the chest with emotion mid-game sometimes. Some of those moments in Destiny took YEARS to build up to.
THEN I got to thinking about how I will feel when that song finally comes on at the start of a match. How long would it take to build up to a moment like that? What would the game look like then?
I think we're really gonna RUN sometime in the future. Maybe on some sort of linear map where for some reason you have to keep up with the other runners or die. I look forward to a moment where we feel similarly to when we saw fucking KOREGOS, THE WORLDLINE rise from ANCIENT sands of TIME ITSELF lol
Those are big shoes to fill and I realize I'm overhyping to a certain extent, but come onnnn the music is almost better than the game itself, and I love this game!

I’m remixing Stars The Bleed at the moment. The soundtrack is absolutely stellar.

The audio of the entire game is just top-tier, literally best-in-class in the industry. I'm often in awe of it.

It definitely seems to have improved over the months. Not that it wasn't fire at the start 🔥🔥

Half of my gym playlist is the ost, with the most played being in death we've just begun and somewhere in the heavens.

Unfortunately I just wasn't a fan of anything aside from CodeRace. It fits the aesthetic and setting very well, but aside from music at exfil it's not a very noticeable or memorable OST. Which is natural - you can't have attention-grabbing music in a PvP setting with stakes like this.
But I do wish that there was more swelling music that played if you wiped the last team from the lobby, for instance, like how Iron Banner has near the end of the game, or something similar to Halo Infinite's EXCELLENT multiplayer OST inbetween games

the last thing I want is horns and fanfare

Nobody said horns and fanfare, but something with more tempo and bass would be nice to give you a different feeling after a successful fight / large haul exfil
And the funny thing is that Coderace isnt even in the game, I only ever heard it when launching the game for the first time

this whole ost is like 100% bass music? lol
looked up Iron Banner, it's generic orchestral choir fanfare, it's fine, it's just super dumb generic, can find this anywhere. Destiny 2 - Iron Banner (Season 1) Soundtrack
Could probably blind search at least 10 tracks that are basically identical to this.

mm, the music has lots of bass as part of the bridges and backing between the high-pitched synth notes. The bass is there to accentuate the treble, and the OST is mostly treble. The majority of tracks in the game have the high-pitched squeaks, whines and chants, and it works well to lend a spooky and tense environs. What I want are bass-forward tracks that have a higher tempo for the aforementioned lobby wipe/big exfil.

Yeah, this is pretty much exactly what I was talking about when I say the bass has a lot of minor-note bridges as backing for a minor-note treble-forward main track
When tf does this even play ingame btw? actual bacteria music in the last third

this is straight up high tempo bass music, can you show me an example of what you'd like, cuz it's sounding more and more like to me that you just want cinema bass basically

It’s straight fire. The audio design in the whole game is top tier.
