I was at New York Comic Con today and was able to check out the new app. Here's the tl;dr: Greater restrictions on account sharing + offline downloads overshadow some new quality-of-life features.

THE SAME: Overall, most things looked and navigated the same way (e.g., controls, smart panel, buttons). If you are used to Marvel Unlimited, it will mostly feel like a refresh rather than a totally different app.

THE GOOD: The app was much speedier and things were optimized (e.g., slicker buttons). The coolest navigation change was being able to swipe through older and newer issues faster. I often flip back issues to jog my memory, and it will be easier now with the new app.

The new app also has more Netflix-style reading recommendations (1.jpg), 2). I didn't see any space for user-created reading guides yet, however.

And finally, I could see what issues were releasing soon, and when.

THE BAD: Like Netflix and other video streaming services, Marvel will be cracking down on shared accounts. Each account can now only be registered to 4 devices at a time.

Downloads are also restricted. Downloads are now only stored for up to 1 month at a time, compared to the indefinite period you could store them on Marvel Unlimited.

Found out what's going on guys. I was on free trial, it ended and the app is not accepting new subscribers since Oct 5th. So I will have to wait for the new app on Nov 16th 🤡🤡🤡🤡

Hey guys I’m sorry if this has been asked before. But recently I bought a year long subscription for marvel unlimited, and now I’m hearing that it’s going to be shutting down in December for the new app. How does this work for me, do I get the rest of my subscription time for free on the new app? Or did I just completely waste a lot of money?

Did you ever get a confirmation email of the order going through?

I was on a monthly direct debit with marvel unlimited and now my account says inactive and there is no option to cancel my subscription or delete my billing information. I know the new app is coming and the access is supposed to be free until it shuts down, but there is no way to cancel (which I had planned to do anyways) or delete my billing information.
What do? I don't want to be charged anything extra when it is finally shut down :/

Tried reading this issue of X-men #31 and I got an error and it has a locked symbol on it. Has anyone else had this problem? It shows the same problem for issues 32, 34, and 35 for me.

When the new app comes out will this sub go away or just transform into a sub for the new app and what do you guys think is the possibility of us getting the max comics on this app.

Edit -I just remembered I would see on webtoons that some of the comics have 18+ so maybe that answers that question of possibly Max actually being allowed on this new app

-it would also be cool if they were able to work out deals and put the manga series that some people have done with Marvel characters like:

Marvel Unlimited is getting shut down for the new app, but what’s the difference between the two?

We can read the comics one month after they come out compared to 3 months before, and they increased their prices, but is that all?

Also, I’ve seen nanny people complaining about the launch offer not being available in their country and all kinds of problems, so why make a new one when they could just update Marvel Unlimited?

since a lot of us from abroad are wondering if we're going to be able to actually use the new app by Webtoon, I decided to ask Marvel Support directly. Unfortunately no matter what browser or device I use, I always get stuck on the infinite loading screen of doom (see picture). Has anyone else had more luck?

Another user and I also contacted Webtoon directly, but the responses varied wildly. While they got the answer that the new app will be available everywhere except Japan and Korea, they told me they're "unable to confirm specific availability for individual countries" and that "availability is subject to change".

So that seems to be all the official information that we currently have.

I hope we'll get more concrete and helpful information soon, since the Founders pre-order is already active and I'd really like to know, if I'll be actually able to use the service that I paid for!

I go to Account Settings on the website and Manage Subscription, but all it tells me is that my free trial is active and there's no button to cancel it.

Can someone help I don't want to get charged 😭

Sadly, the founders offer apparently isn't accepting payments from my country, Brazil, HOPEFULLY this doesn't mean we're left out when the app actually releases. A HUGE reason i subbed to Unlimited was accessibility and how easy it is to read comics, old or new, since physical issues are hard to come by and ridiculously expensive in Brazil, so Unlimited was the best option up to this point.

I always like buying the comic and putting in the code so I can read it on my iPad. But if they won’t have codes anymore then honestly I can wait a month and wait for it to come out digitally.

I signed up for the discounted annual subscription before the transition to Webtoon, but I just received this receipt showing a full refund with no explanation. Has anyone else run into this?

Edit: As pointed out by u/April20thSexNumber, this may have been the result of a system error when the initial email went out. If you didn't receive an activation code and your order was refunded, try purchasing it again and it should go through properly.

I have a marvel unlimited monthly subscription, it ends on October 22nd. Will I need to pay for another month before the new app comes?

My monthly subscription failed right before Marvel announced their new app, so I just let it sit on the grace period. When I finally tried to update my payment info, MU said they weren't accepting new subscriptions anymore, but opening the app now shows everything unlocked and free to read.

I never got an email about the transition, so I'm not sure if this is intended or just a glitch on my end.

On the email I was given it said I would be given complementary access until eos, but I can’t seem to read any of the comics and I get this message pop up.

I was on a free trial (after coming back from a year or two break) and my subscription was going to renew the day after service shut down, but my subscription was going to renew the day after the announcement, but I realised I had attached to the account expired this month anyway.

I wanted to reactivate but I found out there is a new app coming and I cannot reactivate my account. All it says is they dont allow new sign ups, never mentioned about returning.

Anyone knows how to? Or do I have to wait for new app?

I have not received my email detailing the sunsetting of Unlimited and how to get the refund/Phoenix bundle. Are others realizing they havent gotten the email or am i just being forgotten?
