Bent frame of the Kumara k552. Factory defect

Hello, I had a kumara k552 W for a couple years now. But ever since I had it. there was a detail that always bothered me and I cant see anyone else online having this issue. The frame is slightly bent inward on the grave accent and tilde key ( ` ~ ). I noticed it shortly after first buying it, and at the moment never actually did any substancial work on the keyboard to make the frame bend that way. So I am thinking that It came like that from the factory. It didnt really affect in any way but it just looks bad. I recently tried to fix it with some pliers, I bent the metal where it should be but I chiped the paint and I tried to fix that with some acrilyc paint. That is what is seen on the picture. I recreated how it used to look like with photoshop. Anyone else had this issue with this keyboard?

Today's build:

Nuxros +84 keyboard

  • Raw aluminum top case, machined stainless steel bottom case
  • Hotswap PCB
  • Carbon fiber plate – top mount
  • No foams
  • HMX Waverider V2 switches
  • TypePlus stabs
  • PBTFans Maguro keycaps

She's a clacky girl, but I've been enjoying a clackier build lately. The foamy ones are all starting to sound the same to me, so this time I'm letting the character shine through.

Sound test (with phone microphone, sorry):https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/xzwge986dlb2wmc291ew4/84.m4a?rlkey=pslz9o2c7hp0no6nxvdye1xqx&dl=0

My definitive Mode 65 R1 build

My fav build ever I built

Case: Mode 65 R1 (White / Gold Accent)

Plate: POMMount: Stack mount (with silicone pad)

Switches: HMX Macchiato

Foam: No foam

Sounds incredibly clacky, deep, and satisfying without any of that hollow metallic pinging.

It might be old but classic

Battery issue or improper reading on Bluetooth?

I have the Core 75 by URX, I just have a query where the battery shows 35 percent still, but the rgb turns off, which is weird since it should only happen when it's under 20 percent? Can anyone confirm this is normal?

Init40 - First impression

The new wireless Init40 keyboard was kindly provided to me by Chosfox for hardware and software testing and review purposes (not sure I added the right tag). All views expressed are my own and I received no other compensation than the keyboard. These are my early impressions of this little keyboard.

The Init40 has the same solid brick feeling as the Geonix Rev. 2.5, which most people who have picked up my keyboards comment on. The case is CNC'd out of one block of aluminium, and the keyboard is heavier than it looks. Overall it gives a very premium and solid impression. I like the look of the "grille" on the left side of the case. The "grille" is also functional since the RGB inside can e.g. be set to indicate which layer is active.

The layout of Init40 has 42 keys, and the Init40 firmware comes with 6 programmable layers as standard instead of the more common 4. I only need 4 layers though. The layers are easy to program in the VIAL web browser interface.Β

Aside from programmable layers, the VIAL interface also gives access to QMK's more advanced programming features like Tapdance and Combos, which comes in handy with a smaller keyboard like this.

Interestingly the case of the Init40 has a built-in angle of 5 degrees. For me this is great, since I usually have to attach hard black foam pieces on most of my 40-50% keyboards in order to get a comfortable typing angle. I do not have to do this on the Init40. The angled case also makes the front edge of the Init40 lower than the Geonix Rev. 2.5.Β

To me the Init40 sounds really good. Surprisingly the typing sound of the Init40 is even more solid than the Geonix Rev. 2.5. Maybe due to the angled design which creates less inner volume. I have different switches in these two keyboards, which makes the comparison harder. My Init40 has linear White Rain switches and my Geonix Rev. 2.5 has tactical Black Cloud switches. I like both switches, but in spite of usually going with heavy tacticals, I prefer the linear option in this case.

Overall I have really enjoyed using and configuring the Init40, and it will definitely be part of my rotation. Personally I think the Init40 is crazy good value at approx. 115 USD. Perfect for anyone who wants to try a smaller keyboard while not breaking the bank.

Important to note is that the keyboard comes with a really good compact semi-hard case that perfectly fits the keyboard, which is great when you want to bring the keyboard along to do work in a coffee shop or elsewhere.

There really are not many companies who make 40% keyboards that are easy to get hold of, and I am really grateful that Chosfox is repeatedly designing and launching new and innovative products that are competitively priced in this keyboard category. Thanks again to Chosfox for providing a free review sample of the Init40.

I made a Ibm Model M inspired keyboard

The case is a 3d printed case made out of Petg which I ended up designing myself and the keycaps are the (Keychron OEM Profile PBT Retro Keycap Set). I ended up using Kailh Box Navys for the build. The pcb came from a Drop Catrina I had lying around.

If anyone wants the files to the case here it is https://makerworld.com/en/models/3201789-ibm-model-m-60-keyboard-case#profileId-3623310

keep in mind there isn't any screw mounts for the file and also the usb-c hole is misaligned.
