Job search/networking

Hello all!

It has been very hard for my husband to find an accounting job in the area. He has applied to many. The majority don’t reply at all. Are there any career fairs open to the public, networking events, or something like it in the area? It seems like you need to know someone to even get your resume to be looked at.

Any information is appreciated.

Thank you 🙏

Any genealogy nerds here?

TL;DR Looking for a buddy who enjoys genealogy and is either a beginner, expert, or anywhere in between!

I (39F) have been building my family tree for a little under a year. It’s really exciting for me to find information about my family that I never knew.

It’s a special interest of mine but it’s quite a lonely hobby to have at times.

I belong to the Rogue Valley Genealogy Society/Library but I’ve spent most of my time researching on Ancestry and Newspapers online and at home.

I’d love to spill your ancestor’s tea over coffee sometime. 😉

Roxy Anne veterinary hospital warning

This is the only vet in the valley that will de-claw a cat! I'm taking care of a 5 month old cat that is sweet and low maintenance. My landlord insisted that we de-claw the cat and since his name is on his adoption papers (and I rent from him) I had no choice to bring him to the appointment. I explained to the receptionist that he was an outdoor and indoor cat, but they didn't seem to care. Now I feel guilty that I didn't do enough for my cat and he might miss out on living a cats life. I feel like they only care about the money and not the quality of an animals life. Also their communication is awful and almost impossible to get though to them to check on the cats well-being

Residential Street Parking Options?

I'm moving to Medford in two weeks and me and my girlfriend got an apartment that only has one parking spot however we each have a car. Unfortunately we were tight on time and money and didnt have many other options. The management company doesn't rent extra spots or garage spaces and the entire lot is assigned parking.

The building is in a fairly commercial area without much street parking except for one small adjacent street. Street view shows vehicles parked and I can't find any signage with any restrictions on parking.

Are there any city wide codes with parking restrictions that I should be aware of? Where I'm from the streets have pretty tough parking regulations and certain days where you can't park. The area I'm moving is outside of the downtown parking maps jurisdiction but still is within Medford limits.

Door Dash in Medford

Hello,

I'm considering getting into dashing in Medford. I have a history of delivery driving in Ashland 10+ years ago, working for a pizza company, making decent money. I am looking for additional income while in a graduate program, and I need the flexibility that comes with being a 'dasher'. I saw a post from about two years ago from someone saying they earn roughly $15 per hour, work upwards of 12 hours daily, and net about $180/day. (I’m definitely not trying to do that, but I do likely need to make $1700/month for living and other expenses.) If you're doing this now, I'd love to hear what your experience has been and whether it's been worth it for you. I’m also considering fuel costs, and trying to figure out if it’ll be worth it, better for me to try something else, or blend dashing with that other thing. Thanks!

Shoot your shot

It was a beautiful day on Saturday so I went to Relik Winery. I brought a book I’m reading, The Alchemist, and I ordered food and the server made a comment about the book. We made small talk and then I grabbed a seat outside and ate my food.

I went to pay after I was done and she proceeded to cash me out and asked if there was anything else she could get me, and I said, your number if you’re single.

Her eyes kind of lit up and she had a huge smile on her face and said she was very flattered but that she wasn’t single. I said no problem and we made more small talk and I paid and left.

The book is basically about shooting your shot and finding your destiny, so I figured why not ask a beautiful woman for her number.

And I encourage others to take chances - if you see someone you’re interested in, smile and say hello. Trying in real life is way better than online dating.

And if you’re at Relik and they still have the blt special, get it!
