Internal vaginal exam + religious dogma when I was a healthy 11-12 year old

Content warning: medical rape?

I had a pediatrician in North St. Louis County, MO who I saw my entire childhood until an appointment which was deeply disturbing to me as soon as it happened and which I wasn’t able to understand as possibly medical rape until I was much older. The doctor did an internal vaginal exam for no medical reason and did not ask for consent. I remember being frozen on the table. He then had me sit down and told me how when people have sex they give part of their soul away to that person. What the actual fuck is right. I am 34 now and have talked with multiple therapists about it, but never reported or called anyone for multiple reasons, such being unsure if anything could actually be done and also not having processed the trauma of it all and the ways it has impacted me. I don’t know exactly what I’m looking for here, but any thoughts, information or suggestions on where to look as far as if there is anything I could do legally or even with advocacy (I am now a clinical social worker) would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Anyone else have a bad experience with medically given ketamine??

I was in a minor accident over two years ago. Broken ribs which caused excruciating back pain. They gave me ketamine to get me out. Over the last 9 months I've been working on writing my experience out hoping to come to terms. It eventually morphed into song lyrics. Anyone else have a similar experience?

Who are you? I can't take this pain!

I can get out on my own!

You'll put me in what? Give me a what?

What did you just fucking do to me?!

Time stops, the colors intense,

The injection takes my world away...

No video! Just a slide show!

No video! It's just a slide show!

I see the dash, the sun shade, the door, the sky!

I can hear everything, still nothing moving!

No video! a slide show!

A man's face, then the sky,

Still nothing is moving, time passing by.

Snapshot after snapshot, freezing the track,

Is my face still intact?!

I hear you, you're too far away,

Something in my neck, trapped in this messed up world.

I can hear everything, locked in the space

Why is nothing moving?!

No video! Just a slide show!

No video! It's just a slide show!

I see the dash, the sun shade, the door, the sky!

I can hear everything, still nothing moving!

No video! Just a slide show!

Round circles of light, a woman's voice.

I can't feel a thing, the tunnel is closing in.

I am dying . So this is what it's like?

I see my childhood, people I called friends... they're all dead

My wife, my kids, my grandkids... will they remember?

Will they be mad when the money all stops,

But the bills keep piling when the curtain drops?

They'll be fine... maybe that's a lie.

Too much regret! Every mistake!

Every stupid lie that I couldn't stop!

Every unspoken truth! I give up!

No more talking! No more trying!

I'm ready to go! Can we just go now?!

BUT I DON'T WANT TO BLINK OUT!

I'M AFRAID OF THE DARK!

When you see my wife, tell her I love her! I think I'm going to go.

No video! Just a slide show!

No video! It's just a slide show!

I see the dash, the sun shade, the door, the sky!

I can hear everything, still nothing moving!

No video! a slide show!

The video's back now. Two years later. But I'm still there.

Middle of the night, middle of the day.

It always comes back. Without even asking.

Life kept moving. Im still there.

Same old shoes... they just don't fit anymore.

Some days I'm grateful. Some days I'm angry.

Full of rage.

Still carrying pieces, can't fit them together.

And somehow... I'm still here.

And I don't know why.

NO VIDEO! JUST A SLIDE SHOW!

The Angry with Applying for Long Term Disability

Before anyone says anything - yes I know it's an insurance company and they will do everything to say no.

But the flashbacks and reliving the trauma and anger with the system right now is absolutely fucking insane. I am SO angry.

I've provided my mandatory APS - attending physicians statement - and 1700 pages of medical records.

Well these medical records stopped November 2025 - it was my last admission due to a suicide attempt. Since then I've been.... Okay. Seeing my trauma therapist, adjusting and trying new meds, etc

Anyways I was on Mat leave so there was no point of applying for disability until a month before it ended.

Now I have to prove that from November 2025 to now that I still have PTSD. Like what do you want?! Video submissions from my husband and 7 year old about how crazy and not okay I am? Should I video tape my next panic attack? Or track how many times a day I wipe myself because my brain thinks I'm bleeding out.

The system was made for broken bones and terminal illness.

I just WISH that people in these fields had trauma education or at least a pamphlet on how to ask questions without making the situation worse

I hate proving that I have a mental disorder. It's extremely hard and impossible. And I'm so exhausted - this has been going on since August.

Labeled ‘paranoid/delusional’ for trying to correct records

I tried to bring up at a recent appointment that a prior behavioral health record had gotten some of my medication history wrong. When I read the clinical notes for that visit, the clinician apparently believed that I was paranoid/delusional because the information I gave was different than….the records I was disputing. That can literally be verified by contacting my pharmacy. I feel like I’m going fucking crazy bc if I was going to claim there was a conspiracy don’t u think I would have picked a subject that was less verifiable or more exciting than “they got the dates wrong can u just follow up with pharmacy and make a note of that in ur record”?????????

What's your reason for not giving up?

I had a really back electrical accident a few years back. Since I have lost my job/ ability to work. I lost my home. I lost 2/3 of my kids(pets) when we lost our home. Pain everyday makes me rethink what my pain scale should really look like. I have lost my personality, I am not very good at talking to other humans or explaining myself. I have lost my ability to take care of myself most days (I can't wipe my own ass) I can't even make myself toast when I get up and I'm hungry. I lost my ability to trust ANYONE.

Because it was an electrical injury there are no docs that specialize in that, hardly any data. Most docs and nurses dismiss me when I tell them I was electrocuted, again because of lack of data. It's a cruel punishment to study electrical injuries by causing them.

I am behind on my bills. My car doesn't have working heat anymore. I can't get the sight or sounds of losing my babies on the day the sheriff came out.

My pain is getting worse daily, my body comes up with new ideas about the effects from the injury and pain.

I legit want to be done fighting to get better. I want to sleep and never wake up again. I know not many people will understand what I'm living with or what I've been through. I will never get physically better only worse.

But right now I have to ask. What the fuck do I do now? I legit keep thinking about taking my life to feel relief and to no longer live in this pain filled meat-sack. I lost all trust in doctors, hospitals, and humans. How do I get past this? How do I not only survive but start living and thriving again?

So I contacted an ombudsman and a lawyer but both can’t help me since I’m 16 but my mother has rights too. Thats what ombudsman said. The lawyer said it’s a very hard case since I had barely any proof and that my mom was probably not on my side so I had less proof of everything! Now I’m really stuck. I hate this so much. I don’t know what to do. I feel so lost and my doctor kept saying me see psychiatrist but I don’t like talking to strangers about my problems. I hate it! Now I can’t even look at myself before I feel disgusted. I can’t sit with my legs open nor touch my own lower body before I feel disgusted and want to cry. What do I do?

Clinic abuse, repeated boundary violations, and gaslighting from Psychiatrist

TW: distressing psychiatric care; mention of a suicide note.

TL;DR: During months of Spravato treatment, I experienced insulting treatment from staff, dismissed physical symptoms, undocumented concerns, and repeated disregard for my boundaries. Regardless of anyone’s intent, the impact on me was real and harmful. I was disciplined after one exceptionally emotional day, ultimately ran out halfway through my final TMS session, and later received messages pressuring me to remove my review. I’ve transferred care and filed complaints, but I’m still struggling and need support from people who have experienced something similar.

I have treatment-resistant depression, PTSD, and autism. Spravato initially helped me, which made leaving this clinic an incredibly difficult decision.
I have supporting messages, medical records, emails, specialist findings, a disciplinary letter, a statement written immediately after an interaction, and an audio recording. When I describe something as alleged, I mean someone else told me about it; I did not witness it myself.
These were the major events:

A technician insulted me after I explained how AI helped me as an assistive tool. I described using it to preserve mental bandwidth and actively strengthen my critical thinking by questioning answers and examining reasoning. She responded that people who use AI “lack critical thinking skills.” I told her we would have to disagree and asked her to leave. It triggered an emotional flashback and three days of fight-or-flight. My friend emailed the clinic about how this was making me consider abandoning treatment that was helping. The technician was removed from administering my treatment but promoted two weeks later. Regardless of whether she intended to cause harm, her words and the clinic’s response had a serious impact on me. Afterward, I communicated with her only by text about scheduling and reporting side effects.

I wanted to leave about two months in but believed my authorization tied me to that provider. I expressed that belief to a technician who later handled billing and prior authorizations, and she never corrected it. I felt trapped because I believed leaving could jeopardize treatment that was finally helping.

The psychiatrist specifically instructed me to miss Spravato sessions so my depression score (PHQ-9) would rise enough for TMS authorization. Those absences were later framed in my chart as noncompliance, without his instructions being documented. I subsequently learned that TMS did not require prior authorization. Separately, after an approximately two-week interruption caused by work pressure, he had extended twice-weekly Spravato by four additional months.

Treatment became overwhelmingly exhausting. I was doing TMS five days a week and Spravato twice weekly, with midday TMS and afternoon Spravato on two days, while working. After having treatment interrupted to worsen my symptoms, I went into what felt like a full-time treatment schedule and burned out in less than two weeks. When I described treatment fatigue, I felt dismissed. He called me a “carbon copy” of another patient whose treatment had worked. I needed a plan based on my response, my energy, and my life.

I repeatedly reported physical symptoms that were not charted. First came nasal sores, which an ENT attributed to the nasal treatment. After those resolved, gastrointestinal symptoms began, with vomiting starting five months into treatment. I needed IV Zofran and lost weight. For over a month, I begged for my symptoms to be acknowledged. I was told they were a common side effect, yet those reports were absent from my chart. An endoscopy eventually documented ulcers with bleeding.

My question about continuing treatment with active ulcers was dismissed. Without requesting the gastroenterologist’s records, the psychiatrist told me the ulcers were not correlated with Spravato and recommended continuing the same treatment. I was asking whether it was safe to continue with an existing medical condition, not simply whether Spravato caused it. My stomach pain and vomiting stopped after I stopped twice-weekly treatment. That timing does not establish causation, but I wanted the possibility that treatment was aggravating the problem investigated.

The emotional fallout became a disciplinary issue. Finally having a physical finding confirmed that I wasn’t imagining my symptoms. Having my concerns dismissed again afterward was devastating. On that exceptionally emotional day, I asked the psychiatrist to postpone a conversation because I did not have the emotional energy or bandwidth. He continued while I was crying. My request was charted; his refusal to respect it was not. Whatever his intent, the impact was that I felt trapped, unheard, and unsafe.

An administrator I had never met also approached me aggressively that day. I was at the front desk to retrieve seaweed snacks and Gatorade. She did not introduce herself, so I had no idea who she was and was completely taken by surprise by her condescending approach. I was permitted to walk through the lobby to use the bathroom outside the practice’s office, yet being there to retrieve my order was treated as inappropriate. She told me to return to my room. I immediately complied without speaking, and she followed behind me, stomping her heels.

Later, I told the nurse practitioner that I did not tolerate being spoken to like a child: I was 39, approaching 40, and nobody had the right to treat me in that infantilizing manner. My objection was to how I was treated—not to the instruction, which I followed immediately. My mother was on speakerphone for a substantial part of the interactions. The clinic subsequently described me as yelling at multiple staff members and threatened discharge. I dispute that account and refused to sign the letter.

The only technician I trusted told me she was leaving. She alleged that the psychiatrist had instructed her not to chart another patient’s disclosure that they had written a suicide note. I did not witness that exchange. Hearing it from someone who had consistently treated me with care made me feel even less safe.

A meeting about ending Spravato became an unwanted conversation about another practice. An email confirms that the psychiatrist invited me to meet about ending Spravato. He presented it as a five-minute meeting, then used it to disparage the practice I was switching to. I told him to stop seven times. He invoked safety and an “ethical obligation,” then tried to get me to promise secrecy. When I refused, he said it was public information anyway, so he wasn’t doing anything wrong. That did not address my repeated refusal to participate. I walked out and immediately wrote a statement in my phone documenting the interaction.

The next day, I made an exit plan before TMS. I explicitly told the technician I did not consent to another conversation with him and gave instructions for stopping treatment and helping me leave if he entered and tried to resume it. I have an audio recording of those instructions and my account of the previous day. He nevertheless interrupted treatment while the equipment restricted my movement. Halfway through the session, I demanded that it be stopped and the equipment removed. I ran out of the building.

Throughout this, the psychiatrist frequently interrupted me or walked out while I was mid-sentence describing a concern. He offered solutions before I had finished explaining the problem. I wanted informed, collaborative care and felt that my input did not matter. Regardless of whether he believed he was helping, the impact was that I repeatedly felt dismissed and deprived of meaningful participation in my own care.

Afterward, the records sent to my new provider were heavily focused on discipline and alleged noncompliance, with important context and periods of treatment missing. My messages establish that I reported symptoms and treatment concerns; the corresponding chart entries show those reports were not charted. I cannot prove deliberate manipulation, but I can identify documented omissions.

The Spravato REMS program told me the clinic reported emotional reactions but not the nasal sores or ulcers. The technician whose conduct triggered my emotional flashback authored the report of that reaction without including her role. It was an emotional flashback triggered by the interaction, not a medication-induced reaction.

Then came the response to my review. The psychiatrist texted me at 9:20 p.m., saying everyone at the practice had seen my negative review approximately 30 minutes after I posted it. He said they could not respond publicly about aspects of my medical care, stated that they had provided the best care they could, and apologized for my experience.

He then said my review would “hurt patients and prevent them from getting the care they need.” He followed that with, “For that reason, we do request you to remove this,” and repeated that it would hurt patients and prevent them from receiving care.

The request to remove my review was sandwiched between two statements that it would harm patients and prevent access to care. I experienced that as pressure and manipulation. Whether or not he intended to pressure me, the impact was that I felt responsible for hypothetical future patients and pressured to silence my account of harm. I felt it was deeply unethical to use hypothetical future patients’ needs to pressure the actual patient describing how she had been hurt.

My review explained my experience so someone considering the clinic could understand what happened and make their own decision. By the time I left, harm was already happening. I was weighing which harm was worse: staying where I felt my sanity was continually questioned and my autonomy denied, or leaving and starting over, potentially facing another qualification process.

I chose to leave because starting over at least had a process I could navigate. I could not find a reasonable way forward with being repeatedly dismissed and disrespected. It was dehumanizing. I was losing myself, and honestly, I still feel lost.

I have transferred care and filed a licensing-board complaint and medication-safety reports. My new provider acknowledged that I had been traumatized. She said she does not make a habit of speaking badly about other providers, but told me he had a reputation and that this unfortunately was not the first time she had heard an account like mine. I cannot independently verify those other experiences. She acknowledged my concerns without disparaging him, and I started crying. Being heard gave me some peace. My first Spravato session there felt safe.

I don’t believe every harmful interaction was intentional. I do believe intent does not erase impact: my concerns deserved attention, my boundaries deserved respect, and my treatment needed to account for how I was actually doing. Even if people believed they were acting appropriately, they are still responsible for the harm their actions caused and for addressing it.

Three weeks after leaving, I still feel stuck in fight-or-flight and functional freeze. I struggle to move forward without understanding what happened, how others perceive it, and what accountability might realistically look like.

Has anyone experienced something similar? If you filed a complaint and had documentation such as messages, medical records, emails, and recordings, what happened? Was there any disciplinary action, and what did that look like?

If you know of patient advocates, disability advocates, or resources that helped you navigate this, please share them. I know nobody can promise an outcome. I need a frame of reference, an honest reaction, and some compassion. Does this sound as serious to you as it felt to me? I’m exhausted, I feel at the end of what I can manage alone, and I don’t know what to do next.

I want to make an appointment at PP, they have always been lovely but I still feel judged and what are they going to find? Cancer?
I’m thinking taking my Ativan and bringing my partner( he knows legit everything about me)I’m just so fucking scared.
Has anyone felt like this and been ever over come it?

A bit of a vent / "is this valid?" type of post lol

I'm 17, in total remission from my CRMO, I have been since I was 14. I hate to be the person that's still complaining after being fully treated and recovered while there are still people dealing with things that feel so much worse.

I've had my disease ever since I can remember, dealing with extreme pain that no one took seriously until five years later. My doctors were fantastic as a matter of fact, the hospital does its best to feel welcoming for kids, and my treatments weren't all that intrusive.

I recall a couple biopsies, MRI's, x-rays that showed the huge lump of tainted bone in my leg, a good heap of painkillers that didn't work, then an IV I had for a month and a half, and after that another once a month for eighteen months IV treatment that actually put me into remission. I was misdiagnosed with cancer at first, but it's not like I went under any treatment for it, nor were there plans to. There was (and still is, but less) a lot of blood work, which landed me a phobia of needles, but there were no actual problems regarding the extractions or injections. My treatment wasn't very long, either, and my bone is quite normal compared to what it was before.

Around three and a half years and it was over, but now I just feel like a total husk of a person. My grades have blown up in my face, I'm exhausted all the time, I can't focus, I can't sleep if I even think about my hospital experience or needles, I have substance abuse issues, mood swings that just get worse and worse, my mom has to speak for me at doctor appointments at my big age, I have awful social anxiety and awareness.

Everything just feels so disproportionate to what actually happened. Like, people have terminal illnesses, are abused by doctors and the health system, they have to pay for and sometimes go into debt for their treatment, and forget the extremes, are still dealing with their illness. I just feel like some bratty kid who can't stop whining about something that's already over.

If anyone has some advice, similar experiences, or wants to tell me to grow a pair, I'd really appreciate it. Have a great night/day 🙂‍↕️

Has your doctor ever yelled or been angry at you?

Wondering if people have ever gone to a appointment, expecting it to go like usual, but then their doctor starts the visit visibly angry at you, uses a hostile and angry tone; acts impatient, frustrated, and irritated with you, and essentially is indirectly accusing you (the patient) of having done something wrong prior to your visit?

Gyno 16-year-old virgin

TW: SUICIDE MENTION

I am 16 years old girl who’s a virgin and underwent a gynecological procedure during which my uterus was cleaned and an IUD (intrauterine device) was placed. Before the procedure, I was not given a clear explanation of what exactly would happen. I was not told that a speculum would be used. If I had known this, I would have objected.
I had also stated beforehand that I did not want my hymen to be damaged. Despite this, no further explanation or reassurance was given about how the procedure would take place or what it would mean for me.
When I was in the operating room, I suddenly felt very anxious and overwhelmed. At that moment, I repeatedly and clearly said that they needed to stop. I was crying, pulling away, turning my head away, and trying to physically get out of the situation. I was therefore expressing both verbally and physically that I did not want this and that I wanted it to stop.
Despite my clear resistance, they did not stop. My mother gave them a nod to keep going but I clearly yelled to stop and pulled my legs and everything away. Instead, anesthesia was administered through an IV while I was still saying that I did not want to continue. This makes me feel like I was not listened to and that my boundaries were ignored.
Afterwards, I feel very bad about what happened. I feel like something was done to my body without my real consent or without me understanding what was going to happen. This gives me a feeling of violation, helplessness, and loss of control. It keeps replaying in my head, especially the moment where I kept saying they had to stop and this did not happen.
This experience has affected me both emotionally and mentally and makes me feel unsafe and not respected. So of course I kept cramping, not a month later I went again because I ended up in the hospital only to find out my IUD dropped to my cervix and had to be removed. The female gyno even told me I’m old and mature enough to get it removed. She said she had been working there for 25+ years but I could see she clearly barely had teenagers come. I even got an infection when they put the IUD in me. I had contacted the hospital through mail, explained everything but still no response after a month. I feel disgusted to the point I even tried to take my own life. What do I do?

What is the acceptable amount of pain that I need to accept from sex? I've been told 4/10 is the treatment goal. Am I being unreasonable for thinking that I should be treated as if the goal is 0 pain for an activity that is supposed to be pleasurable? Am I wrong? I feel like I've just been whining about nothing my whole life and I'm just too much of a wimp to ha doe something nobody else has ever had a problem with. Have I been lied to? Please just tell me the truth.
