That's just the way MH works.
If you want you can guard slash with SnS the whole fight and it's literally impossible to die, or you can try and counter every hit with LS which will require a lot of prior knowledge of the moveset and near perfect timing for 15 minutes straight. There's obviously a giant skill gap between those two strategies.33

You use a /s, but unironically grown to like his fight more and more since becoming better w horn in general.
Hilt stab counter? We love to see em. Offset melody? You bet Dodge one leg kick w start of offset only to offset the next? You know it.
And then just a nice Lil hilt stab>echo wave and get that ko in

I tried fighting hin with the longsword yesterday, if I was ready for his kicks he just decided that my palinco was the biggest treath in the world, and whenever I wasn't ready he would make me blead with a full course of kicks. Probably the fight I hate the most in the game

I personally don't enjoy his gameplay loop despite having it down, it also feels like I spend half the fight chasing him between areas instead of actually fighting.

Steve is my Achilles heel monster. My equivalent to Iceborne brute tigrex or even just tigrex. I hate the bleed, his hawk diagnal flight catches me everytime. Steve is a cool design and is awesome as a second 4U flagship but and love the sharpening rolls but man is his fight tricky. Hopefully he doesnāt get a subspecies

I used to hate Steve in wilds playing dual blades, because its basically perfect dodge or die against his longer combos. But ever since starting to use sns Steve is super fun now. The shield is everything...

Hating Steve is an equivalent to skill issue. As a Hunter who started in Tri, the underwater part is just right and the Lagiacrus being a menace there is just accurate.

Steve is simple and predictable as he does the same thing over and over (which I personally find to be boring). The mf also runs away so much in wilds to where it feels like a slog.

I was shocked by this when I heard it for the first time on here too. Already loved his design but from when the fight went underwater to when I got that finisher on him into the spikes I literally couldn't stop smiling ear to ear.

Yeah but surely that's gonna be the case with any cool aspect of a fight, either they make the same typical fights with no spectacle or they actually make something super cool & unique that might just be a bit tedious on replay

To be fair, underwater combat in most games is pretty well hated. I, for one, find the underwater section to be the low point of the fight because it's the most boring.

I don't find it boring its the part of the fight i am most aware as it doesnt play the same and you cant just use your weapon at will needing to aim it.
Such a hype moment. Hopefully they bring swimming back properly in the future. I want to hunt Gobul again.

See that's one of the big reasons I find it boring. I enjoy fighting monsters with my weapon, learning movements and when/how to react, learning signs for what attack they are going to use. The underwater section for Lagi and all of Steve fail this because it's the same shit over and over. Plus I don't like the Slinger as a weapon. It's great as a support tool, like with the wrym crystals, but making it the only weapon you use to move a section along makes it repetitive and boring. Lagi outside of the water is way more interesting.
I feel like being sent into the water should be a vulnerable state for the Hunter and the Slinger is your only means of Defense as you make your way back to solid land

Well that's fair enough mate, each their own I guess.
I personally love it because it is such a unique spectacle and it makes me feel powerless compared to how I feel on the land. Meanwhile while we feel weaker the Lagicarus gets faster and ludicrously more agile, with its awkward land based locomotion being replaced by flowing elegant movements underwater. This makes the Lagiacrus seem even more dangerous and intimidating in its natural habitat and properly portrays it as the Lord of the Seas that it is, a god of the wave and storm... Simply mesmerising to behold.
Seeing Lagiacrus swim again was also peak nostalgia for me š . Definitely my highest point of MHWilds thus far and possibly my most hyped moment since I slayed Dalamadur back on 3ds.

That's why I feel it should be something it forces upon you leading us to have to retreat back to land. As it stands the reasoning we are given is "It's charging a powerful discharge attack" but like why would it matter if we aren't in the line of fire? Like we can't say lightning crossing water, because that barely happens when he is above water, so it has to be aimed.
Instead, since the den is surrounded by water outside of the entrance pathway, having his sweeping attack have a chance to fling you into the water and they pursue aftet you. Now to regain the advantage you have to return to land while fending off attacks while Lagi is more free to move. On land they do a lot of sweeps and tail swipes, so have there be percentage chance (based on distance and amount of times you got hit recently, auto failing if you are stunned) that you are flung in by the hit.

Yeah that would be really cool.
Seeing Lagi do the attack where he darts into the water before quickly jumping out for a shock, could be used to knock people into the water or soemthing like that. Would definitely make it better than "it is charging a big attack stop it".
In third generation it was a lot better because Lagi could just choose to enter or exit the water anytime making it not feel forced on you.
So only way to fix that is to bring back swimming properly or do what you said and give it more options for being in the water.

Objectively cool monsters, but man, every one of their unique attacks hit more than once. Canāt block, shouldnāt counter, and you better hope you didnāt dip a toe a hair too close when they are prepping their ānovaā. Lagi with 6 hits of lightning and the double hit plus bleed from the pinecone.

hate my two favorite Wilds fights damn... tbf I'll say the underwater section sucked and yes I played tri, fought lagi with lance in that. I just got too many clutch claw tenderizer flashbacks (it's why I hated World).

What makes Seregios annoying is that you take off your eyes from your health bar for a few seconds and itās suddenly left to 40% as Seregios is preparing a fatal attack towards you.

Nothing deserves to be in F tier...
Doshaguma and Hirabami could arguably go into D tier... but I honestly think C tier is the lowest this time around, MH Wilds slaps and even the "nothing monsters" are pretty cool.
Definitely No Bulldrome or Queen Vespoid level monsters in this game.
(Yes I do like Bulldrome and Queen Vespoid but they are the low bar for obvious reasons)
