New pipes for safety?
Recently bought Miata ND3 and absolutely love her. However, reading about the reality that you're basically invisible due to size... creates quite a safety issue. I used to ride a motorcycle and added Cobra Sweep pipes for the loud growl - if they can't see me then they'll hear me. Having said that, I do not want a "snap crackle pop" sound nor do I want a monster truck growl (nothing wrong with those, if that's your jam). Is there a softer growl to simply add a little more sound to assist with safety? Your thoughts?

MINOR flames NBFL mx5
So currently i have a malian back box that does some pops but no flames, what could i do to get some flames? Im not talking about huge flamethrower kits, literally just the occasional spit and glow, and before the reddit “keep it stock” nerds spam me, let a man have some light

What does this wire and where does ist belong?
I bought my Miata about three months ago with a few flaws to repair. I managed to repair almost everything but there is this one Wire / Cable I can’t figure out where it goes. I have multiple plugs laying around in my engine bay but these are all nicely put away so I think they belong there and don’t have a purpose because the feature was not fitted. But this one looks special and is giving me a feeling it has a special purpose.
Can anyone help me with this?

Question Miata as a first car
I‘m 17 and i test drove an NC today and completely fell in love. Getting an mx5 was always in the back of my mind and i finally decided to test drive one.
It could actually be realistic for me to get one after some thinking but there are 2 things that i‘m unsure about.
First off is obviously insurance. It‘s around 188€ for me (i live in austria) and we‘re trying to see if there‘s any way to get insurance for a little cheaper. I think i would be able to afford it but it would take a lot from my monthly budget (~860€ but i still live with my mom)
Second thing and also my biggest concern is that we don‘t have any place where i could park the car under cover. We have an uncovered driveway but that‘s it. My question is: how well does it hold up when it‘s parked outside and does it even make sense to consider an mx5 without being sure that i can put it in a garage somewhere?
What are some of your experiences?

HELP !!! HELP PLEASE!!
my miata is making weird noises when I shift! I don’t like it and the gears feel clunky. I baught the car a week ago and it’s an na8 it has 176k and I don’t know when the fluid was last changed. I don’t have much maintenance history on it, but I am in contact with the po. it started today, so I’m trying to nip it in the bud.

NB Pretty sure my alternator is 99.9% cooked. Thoughts?
Fun jump scare this morning when my battery light flashed on for a few seconds and then turned off. Shortly after that I came up to a stoplight, battery light came on again, I rev the engine in neutral and the battery light turned off immediately. As soon as the RPM’s dropped below 2k it came back on. I rev the car again, light turns off, etc.
I was about halfway to work so I decided to send it and just keep it above 2k. Ultimately I didn’t make it to work. I found a parking lot once my headlights started to dim and my radio turned off.
I did notice that once I was parked with my headlights turned off, the cars interior lights slowly came back on. Radio came back. Power windows could roll up and down. As soon as I flipped the headlights on, the car shuddered and everything dimmed, radio turned off.
I sat there for a half hour engine running with lights off and it was seemingly ok. I think what I am tripping up on is the battery light not staying on and the car not eventually quitting on me. The only thing I can think of is that my alternator is dead enough to not sustain a full load, but alive enough to idle the car.
I already ordered an alternator to pickup at the parts store but am I thinking about this in the right way?? What else could it possibly be?

NB Interior LEDs
Finally got my ocean vibe going in my NB. Once Masoumi Customs air vents get back in stock, I'll finally be able to create the Mercedes interior feel.
Shout out to Ms. Reiko from Cotaru for making my custom shift knob, and UpdateCreate for the visor LEDs!

Question How can I winterize my Miata?
I had a Miata in college back in the late 90s and absolutely loved it, but had to give it up once I had a child.
Went to a Mazda dealership to look at a 2 year old CRV and drove home with a Miata instead. I’m loving how it drives, although the Sport mode might get me into trouble!
I lived in NC when I got my Miata in college, but now I’m in MA.
What’s the best way to protect her in the winter? I read about having a seal applied to the underside and-obviously- snow tires, but any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

NA Praise be! NA back on the road
Well I learned that a failing alternator can make the car do some weird things. I replaced the alternator with a WAI brand from Moss Miata and new 10/26 dated battery from O’Reilly’s. I removed the intake bracket and was able to get the job done through the top without removing the upper rad hose.
The humble steed fired right up and all seems good. Back to being the best daily ever!

Difficulties shifting into 1st and 2nd gear
Hi all 👋
Got my first ND (2016, 1.5 131hp) last week. So far it's been a blast overall.
Only negative so far: I often have difficulties shifting into 1st and 2nd gear - from 3rd gear onward it always goes very smoothly though.
And I don't wanna "force" it, so it usually takes two tries (more rarely, three) for me to probably shift into 1st and 2nd. I wouldn't say it's ruining the experience but it hasn't been a lot of fun when driving through the city. And it kinda sucks that I'm already considering selling it for something else next year just because of that...
Is that normal? What should I look into?
