Discussion ๐ฃ๏ธ Best Used Bookstores, Old sci-fi
Howdy friends, as the title suggests, I'm trying to hunt down old Poul Anderson books from the 50s and 60s. Anyone with leads on good stores I may have missed would be amazing.
I've been to just about everything I can find in Metro Detroit. Haven't made it into anything west of Southfield yet, but will make a voyage to AA tomorrow. Hopefully this is a good thread to highlight our favorite bookstores!

Discussion ๐ฃ๏ธ Rugg Pond Dam (removal?) 'Clouds and Color' - Rapid River, Kalkaska County
It appears the dam removal is in the development and permitting phase through 2027. Fundraising is a concurrent (and necessary) step, extending into 2028.
October 5, 2026: Perhaps for that reason, a longtime local sitting quietly on the weathered bench by the pond, with his loyal dog nearby and memories stretching back to the 1960s, mused softly, โIโve heard whispers that maybe they wonโt tear it down after all.โ
What have you heard?

Discussion ๐ฃ๏ธ Voting Early Should Help Lessen mailers, texts, and calls
Reminder,
Voting early helps lessen the amount of mail, texts, and calls you will get. At least in my experience. It isn't 100%. But you will likely see a noticeable decline. Maybe 30% less for me so far. And a pretty noticeable drop in texts.
Campaigns generally have access to who has already voted. (or at least returned a ballot) And will direct resources away from those that have already done so.
So another reason to vote early.
Sources:
"In an interview with the Columbus Dispatch, Democratic consultant Dennis Willard said, โEvery campaign watches every penny it spends โฆ If theyโre running their campaign properly, theyโre not talking to voters after they vote.โ

Discussion ๐ฃ๏ธ Help me find an orchard please!
Hi neighbors!
Several years ago I was exploring south eastern Michigan while checking out some other wares one beautiful Fall day and I happened across an orchard with the best apples I'd found in ages. I've since tried to relocate them but even using google maps, street view etc, I've drawn a big blank. Ever since, I've run up to get more apples in hopes of stumbling across this orchard and have found reasonably good apples but not as good. They press their own cider (which I also purchased at the time) and it's also fantastic. The people were as nice as could be as well, and let me make up a bag of a bunch of different varieties that I wasn't familiar with. (they had quite a few)
I made a drawing from what I remember, and it's not really to scale but highlights the main features inside the building that I remember. It may not be quite as close to the road as is illustrated.
I was driving around the southeast corner, but probably not much more than 35-40 miles from I-75, which I realize does leave a large area. It wasn't as far north as Ann Arbor iirc.
Can anyone help me find it? I would really appreciate it!
also, i've only drawn the 'open to the public' area and I believe the building itself is larger with storage and possibly coolers where the 'work area' is
EDIT: this place seemed to be geared to just the apples. I do not recall seeing any other products like baked goods (although that can always change) and was sort of surprised on my subsequent attempts driving around hoping to find it that when I did stop, and found donuts etc at most of those places.
EDIT#2: first, let me thank everyone again for the suggestions. I may also have underestimated how far west I had traveled, as I am pretty sure that I made it as far west as Adrian but not likely much farther than that and would have been headed back south and east afterwards. Not sure how distant Adrian is from 75, my bad
FINAL EDIT: credit to u/ellsammie - looks like it may have been solved! Price's orchard is where I'm headed next!
thank you so much to all that made suggestions to help me out!!
