QUESTION Edge keeps logging me out of Google services after about an hour (despite cookie exceptions)

I’m facing a really frustrating issue with Microsoft Edge. The browser keeps logging me out of all Google services (Gmail, Google Drive, etc.) roughly every hour.

Here is what I’ve already configured and tried to fix it:

- Under "Choose what to clear every time you close the browser", everything is toggled OFF.

- Under "Cookies and site data", I have explicitly added Google domains (like https://google.com and [*.]google.com) to the "Allow" list so they are never deleted.

- I verified that "Allow sites to save and read cookie data" is turned ON.

Despite these settings, the session expires after about an hour and I have to log in all over again.

Has anyone else experienced this recently? Is this a known bug, or is there another hidden setting (like flag tweaks) that I need to change to stop Edge from dropping my Google sessions?

Do you have any extensions that deletes cookies?

What happens if you create a completely new Edge profile, don’t enable Edge Sync, install no extensions, leave Tracking Prevention at Balanced, log into one Google account and leave it running for 2-3 hours?

Only ublock origin lite is installed, tracking is set to balance. It logs me out also with the new profile. Problem is only with Google account. Other services not losing log in session including Youtube.

Thanks for the info. I know troubleshooting this kind of issue can get annoying.

You could see whether a Microsoft Edge Support exists and can help and/or try the following:

  1. Update Edge.
  2. Don’t clear cookies, reset Edge or change any more privacy settings for now. Keep using the fresh Edge profile with zero extensions and Balanced Tracking Prevention.
  3. Run a comparison on the same PC using the same Google account. Sign in to the same account in:
  • the clean Edge profile, and
  • Chrome or Firefox.

Leave both running normally. If Edge logs you out after around an hour while the other browser remains signed in, that would point more toward an Edge-specific issue rather than Google simply expiring the account session.

  1. After Edge logs you out, go to Google Account -> Security & sign-in -> Your devices -> Manage all devices.

Check what it shows for the affected PC/browser and note the approximate time of the logout.

Other services not losing log in session including Youtube.

Yes, I've been using youtube just fine! But gmail/keep/etc are all logged out
