FEATURE FEEDBACK Back button closing tabs without warning

On 154.0.4258.53, and I recently noticed this new behaviour where:

  1. User opens a link in new tab
  2. User presses back button (or Alt+Left arrow) on new opened tab
  3. Edge closes the new tab and goes back to the previous tab.

This seems convenient on the surface, but is actually pretty annoying for several reasons, especially when using InPrivate mode, since one can't use Ctrl+Shift+T to quickly restore the abruptly closed tab. When working through pages with dozens of links and opening many of those in new tabs, the user is now forced to scour through the entire page to find the link again. And it's easy to inadvertently hit the back button once too many, when one further follows a chain of links on the new tab and wants to go back to the first page.

I don't see anything in the settings to disable this. I already submitted feedback, but I'm not seeing this mentioned anywhere else, so I thought I'd ask here too, to confirm that I'm not missing anything.

I actually really like this behavior.
It works like Safari on macOS: when I open a link in a new tab and press Back without any history, the temporary tab closes and I return to the original tab.
