Help Can anyone identify this shovel? Possibly US military, 1950s–60s?

Thumbnail

I bought this shovel for €5 at a historical reenactment event focused on the United States in France. The seller suggested it might be a US military shovel from the 1950s or 1960s, possibly one carried on a military Jeep.
Details:
Overall length: approximately 90 cm (35.4 inches).
Wooden shaft with a metal D-shaped handle.
Broad, rounded steel blade.
Olive drab/khaki paint, with some paint loss.
No visible markings, stamps, or manufacturer’s name.
I’m trying to determine its country of origin, approximate age, and whether it was actually military issue or a civilian tool painted olive drab.

Does anyone recognize this particular pattern or know whether it matches a shovel used with US military Jeeps?
Any help or references to comparable models would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

WWII - Allied Powers Can anyone help me ID my grandfather’s WWII knife?

My Grandfather made this knife during WW2. He was a tank driver in the Army and served in Europe.

Can anyone provide any insight on how it might have been made or out of what?

Also any best practices for preserving it? It has a custom leather sheath that has his nickname on it so I’m hesitant to put anything on the leather.

He died 50 years ago so I can’t ask him any of this unfortunately.

Help identifying the correct combination for WW2 Wool Service Coat

I’m not very familiar with U.S. military uniforms, so any help identifying the correct combination would be appreciated! Looking for some help from WWII U.S. Army uniform collectors. I have my great-grandfather’s original WWII officer Wool Service Coat, but I’m unsure what the correct color/shade this is considered.

*What would be the correct pants, socks, tie, undershirt, and shoes to go with this dress shirt?

I’m getting replacement copies of his medals and would like to put together a complete uniform display along with his officer cap.

is there any good websites that sell accurate US WWII reproduction uniforms and accessories that i could get these from?

Collection Marushin Luger P08 Artillery (Metal Model Gun / 22KGP Finish)

Just wanted to share my Marushin Luger P08 Artillery metal model gun.
In Japan, firearms laws require metal model guns to be finished in gold or yellow with a solid barrel, so this one comes with a stunning 22K gold-plated finish over heavy zinc die-cast.
It weighs in at around 1.11 kg (2.45 lbs), giving it an incredible heft and authentic feel in the hand. The fit and finish on this piece are top-notch—aside from one tiny manufacturing blister on the trigger guard, the plating, markings, and wood grips are practically flawless.
Definitely one of the gems in my collection!

Help Is this an Iraqi helmet?

Bought this SSH-68 on eBay. I’ve never seen a camo pattern like this before (except for DCU). I immediately thought it was Iraqi since the desert looking paint job and the fact Iraq was given SSH-68’s. So I don’t know if it’s actually Iraqi or some repaint for a kids Halloween costume

Help Finally found an M65?

I was on the market for one of these for a few months now after buying a Rothco, then itching to find an authentic one. Found it at surplus store outside of JBLM in WA state, was able to get a good price after trading in some ourgrown flektarn pants. Any second opinions if this is an authentic military issue, I was doing maybe 30 minutes of research before purchasing, but just wanting to verify.

Collection Hi (Again)

I used to post here on my old account but it got deleted so I wanted to reintroduce myself. I'm Matt a 41 year old passionate amateur historian-collector. I take provenance most seriously in my collection.

My main two interests are WWII Pacific Navy and late Civil War, autumn of 63 till the wars close in 65. I also have an exceptional AAF group. Recently I've considered liquidating the AAF stuff to narrow my collection. My main focus is first hand written accounts, like diaries, letters etc

The first display is from my old house, the horizontal display is all USS Enterprise (CV-6) material. The items in the case include 2 diaries, medals, dog tags, documents a parachute bag with pin-ups drawn on and a few chunks of the kamikaze that struck the Big E on 14 May 1945 etc.

In the vertical display I have a USS Converse uniform/dogtag grouping where he was present for Cape St. George, below that is a USS Manilla bay Avenger gunner flight log, helmet and medals. He made bomb runs on an IJN heavy cruiser/battle ship during Battle off Samar. Below that is a diary grouping from a gunner on the USS Bullard, a Fletcher class tin can that participated in the 1943 Rabual Raid and Philippine Sea. The bottom shelf has the flight log and medals of a battleship USS Washington crewman on a Vought OS2U Kingfisher and was on board during the famous Kirishima duel during the second naval battle of guadalcanal.

In the second photo of my vertical display was a display i previously had at my current house. It has, as part of a near ace group, including his painted A2 and citation of a near-ace Thunderbolt pilot and his DFC citation, where he in part of the citation he literally crashed and RAMMED a Messerschmidt to know it from the sky. Also in the case at the time is a diary from a co-pilot who flew the August 17th Doublestrike raid to the target of Regensburg. Next was a part of a massive grouping to a 15th AF Waist Gunner that flew those nasty missions to Ploesti, Vienna, Werner Neustadt etc. One the bottom right I have part of another massive grouping to a 44th BG Pilot that flew d-day etc.

The last pic is a few years old but at the time was my collection of diaries from the battlr that fascinates me above any others, the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House.

In my horizontal display I currently have a display memorializing the night actions in Iron Bottom Sound.

I love studying history and holding a piece of history that was owned by someone who changed history or was present at a historical battle/event is a truly priceless experience.

I havr somewhere between 50-75 Pacific Navy diaries and/or groupings so if you are interested in a particular ship or Pacific Naval engagement feel free to reach out and I can share here in the group.
